OneMan answered Tuesday December 16 2003, 6:48 pm: The wings "and stuff" aren't sufficient enough to create the necessary "lift" to get the overweight, non-aerodynamically designed carcassess off of the ground. Bottom line, they weight to damned much for their wings. Just like ostriches "and stuff". [ OneMan's advice column | Ask OneMan A Question ]
zoe. answered Thursday December 11 2003, 10:54 pm: they dont want to fly. its always cold where penguins live, and if they flew, the wind resistance against their wings would make them colder.
and their fat. but sshh, theyre sensitive about that. [ zoe.'s advice column | Ask zoe. A Question ]
metawidget answered Thursday December 11 2003, 9:05 pm: Their wings are short and stubby... good for water but not enough lift for air. Just like we people can kind of "fly" in water but not in air. The trade-off is good for penguins though: normal birds can dive a bit but they can't really swim with their wings. [ metawidget's advice column | Ask metawidget A Question ]
XCrUnChALiCiOuSX answered Thursday December 11 2003, 8:59 pm: Because the yare gay...No, I think it is because they are too fat, or maybe they get so cold that their wings freeze and they can only waddle..Im not that smart, but they are guesses! ScaperJess answered Thursday December 11 2003, 8:03 pm: Penguins don't need to fly, they live where there’s lots of cold and ice... there wings have adapted to be more useful to them... they use there wings to swim under water and propel themselves down ice banks rather than fly. Since there food is under water it makes more since to have a sort of flipper rather than wings to fly... [ ScaperJess's advice column | Ask ScaperJess A Question ]
shay*shay answered Thursday December 11 2003, 6:56 pm: Okay penguins cannot fly because they do not have the many abilitys that birds have. (As I explaned in my last answer). They are too heavy. Mostley the only thing birds and penguins are alike about is their wings. Penguins do not have feathers to catch air eather so they cant fly.
