I recommend a cat. They are easy to take care of. Pretty much all you need to do is make sure they have food and water and you can play with them once in a while but cats generally are independent so they will do things on their own. Of course, if you want to make your cat a completely inside cat then you'll have to get a litter box but cats do well being indoors and outdoors. I hope this helps and good luck!

I recommend just leaving out the food and fill the bowl when it gets empty, however, if your cat is overweight then you should only feed twice a day and give about a third of a cup each time. I hope this helps!

Q: My husband and I are adopting a cat today from the Humane Society. The cat is 4 years old, and has not been declawed. I feel it would be inhumane to do declaw her, but I am worried about her scratching my furniture, and me as well. Does anyone have any alternitives to declawing, or how to prevent her from scratching the furniture.
And any other tips for a new cat owner would be appriciated.

Well, I recommend getting a scratching post so that way your cat can scratch on that. That's what we had to do for our cat and when you see her scratching on something that she shouldn't be then scold her and show her the correct thing to scratch. Also, it might help to just get her nails cut. Just get nail clippers at a local pet store. I hope this helps and good luck with your new kitty.

Q: does anyone on here have a shar-pei? if so, does yours smell really bad? mine does and i was wondering if its just the breed, like odor gets up under the wrinkles or something, or if its just rolling around in something really nasty

My grandparents have always had shar-pei's and they are really bad smelling dogs so the answer to your question is it's the breed of dog. They definitely don't smell very good. I hope this helps!

Q: I have two horses that are the BEST of friends. You can't take one out of the pen without the other. They are stuck like glue, but one is 42 years old! really he is! and the other is at least 30. When one passes away, do you think we should put the other one down? I mean they are both already really old and I know that one would be in MISERY without the other. Just getting an idea if the event might arise.

Well, I think when one of the horses dies you should just really watch the others behavior. It might take a while for the other horse to adjust but he might be fine but if he doesn't adjust at all then I think it would be best to put him down. I know that's a hard thing to do but it will be best for the other horse. I hope this helps!

No, you don't need to clean your hamster. Hamsters, actually, know how to clean themselves so you don't need to worry about it. I hope this helps!

Q: my foster kitten is a biter! ahh!! he does not know what to do with himself if he is not biting something..including me! What can i do to stop him from doing this?

This is very typical in kittens so really there isn't a whole lot you can do for this. If it really bugs you that much, though, if you have a Petco or some pet store near you then there is this stuff for no biting (which usually is used for dogs) but it has a bitter taste to it and you can spray it wherever. It might work but just give the kitten some attention too. I hope this helps and good luck!
