What is the best place to find puppies for adoption? We want our puppies to have the best chance of being adopted and not put down so we don't want to take them to a shelter but we don't know where else to take them and we can't keep them! Help! (link)
Search for local rescue groups and no kill shelters! Every area has some. Often they do weekend adoptions at local pet stores, and will have lots of info for you.

You can also try a website like Petfinder! They have private adoptions in addition to shelter listings, and quite a few people look through it.

an elizabethan collar.. where could i buy one of those? :] (link)
http://www.petplace.com/cats/elizabethan-collars-for-cats-e-collars/page1.aspx

This website has instructions for making a temporary one until you can get a real one.

Anyway, you can find them at most pet supply stores. Just ask for an Elizabethan collar or an E-collar.

okay well my cats around 6/7 years old.
i think around a year ago we started get stray cats, so my family would catch them, fix them so they wouldn't have babies, then release them. anyways, my cat, would always sit by the window, watching them. when we feed her in the morning she runs straight back to the window, she doesn't even bother to eat much anymore. shes gotten very bad skin now, and constantly over licks herself. her skin would start breaking out from stress of other cats. [shes an indoor cat] we went to the vet to see about it, awhile ago and they gave us medicine but we couldn't give it to her correctly because we had to basically squirt it in her mouth and she refused it. we dont have the money to see the vet anymore, my dad lost his job and were having a hard time. i dont know what to do, my cats like killing herself =/ & i cant get her away from the window, she usually scratches me. (link)
First of all, get an elizabethan collar if you can, so that she won't lick herself raw anymore. You will have to bathe her though, as she won't be able to bathe herself.

You may not like it, but you will probably have to forcibly give your cat her medicine. Wrap her in a towel so that she cannot struggle and hurt herself, then use a syringe to squirt it into her mouth, near the back of her tongue.

If your cat stays by the window too much, as Amarand said, you may need to keep her in a windowless room until she gets better.

Also, try giving her wet food, slightly warmed up so that it smells more appetizing. Mix a little garlic into it if you can; it's a natural antibiotic and pets love the taste.

Hope it helps, and I wish you and your kitty the best of luck.

possibly the best subject ever for a question.

My sister shaved our dog today as he's a labradoodle and has a fairly thick coat, that was just getting unbearable for him in the heat. However, my sister being the person that she is, didn't read any of the instructions, and did it while no one was home. Now my poor puppy is stuck with a bad case of razor burn. He's been scratching at it, and I was wondering if there was anything I could use to help soothe his skin. I've looked at the pet store and most of the skin care seems centred around fleas, so is there anything I can make at home, or a people lotion that is gentle enough to use on him? (link)
Aloe works wonders. And if your dog licks it off, it shouldn't hurt him.

Oatmeal baths are great.

You could try baby lotion. It is very gentle.

Go to a large store like Petsmart or Petco, and ask them there. They'll have special lotions there, if you want to use them.

I really want to get a kitten, but my mom keeps saying no. My dad says its fine, as long as my mom says yes. The kitten is free, but it still needs shots and stuff. My dad would take care of the fees, but my mom still says no. How do I convince my mom that a kitten is in fact a good idea? What should I say to her to make her say yes? (link)
Prove you can handle the kitty.

Try volunteering at the local shelter, or petsitting for your friends/neighbors. Learn about basic cat care, and show how you could do it. Discuss how you'd fit the cat into your life, when you'd feed it, clean its litter box, etc.

If you can show your mom that one, you really want a cat, not just a kitten, and two, that you have seriously thought about what is involved, she will probably say yes.

Another issue might be cat hair. Get a short haired kitten, a few lint rollers, and promise to vaccuum the furniture.

I would love to make the task of cleaning the cat's litter box easier, but I'm not sure how.

I am confused about all of the choices there are for self-cleaning litter boxes. And some are very expensive.

Does anybody have any experience with automatic litter boxes? Like LitterMaid, and those kinds? Are some better than others? (link)
I don't have one, but my teacher does, and she loves it.

But if you don't feel like buying one yet, try using the liners. You can find them almost anywhere, and cleanup is much faster.

well my cat is scared of me everytime i come near him he'll hiss at me.i don't know what to do someone please help...
will give 5 stars... (link)
Did you do anything to hurt or frighten him recently? He may be worried.

Try to bribe him with tidbits of food. Just let him eat them. After a while, try offering your hand to him. If he sniffs at it, or rubs on it, try petting him. If he backs away, leave him alone and try again later.

If this is unusual behavior, he may be hurt. watch him, to see if he acts oddly. If so, consider talking to a vet.

how can i talk my parents into getting me a horse. guys that work with my dad have horses is there anyway that they can help.

plezz help!

note:i have two guinie pigs and my mom knows that i can handle responsobility.please side with me(not my parents)

thankyou

(link)
First: A horse is expensive. Figure out how it is going to be paid for, and discuss this with parents.

Two: Where will horsey stay? Will you be able to visit it daily? Look into boarding and barns. Your dad's coworkers could recommend some.

Three: What is the horse for? Is it just to ride around? Is it a show horse? What horse you get depends on this. Figure out, then look into horses in the area.

I recommend maybe trying to work at a barn for a while. Then you could learn more about horses, and possibly find one that is for sale.

how old do kittens have to be to get fixed?
if i dont get my kitten fixed will she go through heat or will anything happen besides she can get pregnant?
what are some signs of heat?
will rate 5's for good answers! (link)
I believe they must be 12 weeks.

They'll probably start being in heat around 6 months, if I recal. She'll be really annoying, meowing a lot and trying to get out. After a while, it will fade.

I do recommend getting kitty fixed though. There are enough kitties in the world already. Plus having kittens is hard on a cat.

I just got a new dog and it is about 2 and i wanted to train it cuz its kinda hard with its jumping and stuff to be on my family all the time can anybody give me some free dog training tips sites plz and thanx (link)
If your dog jumps, step backwards, so it falls, then tell it no.

Or lift your knee, so it can't jump onto you, and say no.

A squirt gun, or noisy thing also helps. Basically make it unpleasant for doggy to jump.

It was my week to feed the dog and I totally forgot because I got so caught up on going to a a carnival thing where "famous" people were going. I kept getting out of the house with my friends looking for good clothes and stuff like that, you know getting ready. So I TOTALLY forgot about the dog and left the poor thing with no food. I know it was my fault but I didnt want to get grounded from going so I blamed it on my brother. I told my mom that we switched weeks and we didnt. My brother will not talk to me because hes grounded for the rest of the month since the dog is sick. And it really sucks because its summer! Well I want to tell my mom that it was really my week but I dont know if I should. I am driving myself INSANE over this. Please helppp!!

Tell her!

And maybe invest in a dish for your dog that automatically dispenses food. As the dog eats, it puts more food.

into letting me get dog? (link)
Volunteer at a shelter, or sit for a friends dog. Show you can handle one.

Then, decide on the breed. Get your mom actively involed in the process. Animal Planet has an excellent breed selector to help find the perfect breed. (http://animal.discovery.com/guides/dogs/selector/selector.jsp)

Hope it helps!

i really want a dog. but we're renting a house and the rules are you can only have one pet. and we already have a cat. i really want a dog but i love my cat and i dont want to give him up. what should i do? (link)
Possibly get an outside dog?

Work at a pet store or volunteer at an animal shelter. That way you can spend time with dogs.

Im looking for a dog, and i dont like small dogs. My mom however, if like pretty afraid of big dogs, a neat freak, and cant stand dominent dogs. I really wanted a Lab or a Pit bull, but my mom says that labs are way too active for her, and pitbulls of course were always out of the question. I also really like huskies. i was wondering, do you know if they are like hyperactive and likely to jump on you like labs? i have a large back yard, and a big house.
THANX SO MUCH. i rate high. (link)
Huskies are very active.

I'd recommend perhaps a collie or a golden retriever. Or perhaps a mid-sized dog.

Do some research on breeds. Animal Planet has a great thing on their website to help find the perfect dog breed for you.

Hi i need to teach a dog not to dig. Does anyone here have any suggestions? Please help. I rate 5's 4 good answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (link)
One thing to do is put chicken wire under the soil.

Another thing to try is to give your dog a private digging area. Tell him to dig there, and hopefully, he wont dig anywhere else.

You can also apply pet repellants to the area he digs. Check the pet store.

Or put something sticky. They don't like the feeling of that.

Hope those ideas help. ^^

ok...so i've been wanting to get this puppy for SOO LONG! i'm fed up with my mom saying no and yelling at me for it. How are some ways i could get my mom to let me get this dog? I know how to take care of it because i take better care of my cousins dog than he does...but my mom doesnt let me do anything. i do everything for her. i take care of my cat, sister, i clean the house. i let her go out on weekends with her boyfriend while i have to stay home and watch my sister. i compromise with her. i do everything for her and she cant even let me get this dog! how could i get her to get it? (link)
Talk to your mom about it. Do some research into breeds, and find one that would be the least hassle. Try petsitting for a while, so your mom can see you can handle a pet. Or volunteer at a shelter, so that you can spend time with dogs, and again, show your mom that you care and are responsible.
