Ok, I am a freshmen, and some of my friends have started drinking and doing just really stupid stuff in high school. how can i tell her that she is being SO dumb! we both LOVE sports, and they are like our lives, and i REALLY dont want to see something happen to her! And, if she does get caught with an underage, whats the worse that can happen? Thanks SO much!

Good for you :) well first, just going off by what happened at my school a couple years ago, is nothing honestly.. The girls that were caught had to do service. The guy was a great baseball player and had a scholarship for it, but lost it bc the college didn't want to support that kind of behavior. But with our actual high school, nothing was done. Sorry not much help!
I play softball all the time. ive been told i play too much. since its winter now i go inside so i can still play. anyway
a couple of weeks ago my knee was acting up so my parents took me to the doctor to see if anything was wrong. my doctor (who happens to be the most paranoid person i know) told us to go the hospital. when we got there they did tons of work on my knee and i got an MRI. 4 hours after we got there we found out i had torn my ACL. we've obviously seen more then one doctor about it and two out of the three said that i probably wont be able to play again. they told me that i could swim. i mean swimming isnt bad .... but i love softball ..... any suggestions about dealing with this loss...or any other sports i can do in place of my quote on quote "softball addiction" ?
thanks
I'm sorry it must not have sent my whole thing, but I tore mine when I was 15, and I love basketball. The next 6-8 months are going to be hell, and you'll feel like giving up, but just keep pushing hard. If this is your senior year in softball, you will not be playing, I'm sorry. But if it isn't and you still have years left in you, then just work hard in therapy, and when its time next year, kick ass! Swimming is REALLY good for your knee, esp. after surgery. good luck & if you have anymore questions feel free to ask!!
okay so tomorrow i have volleyball tryouts. i'm in 8th grade currently and took this volleyball class thing with the jv coach for a week in 7th grade. well i took it for 2 days because the second day i broke my wrist. i only noticed it at home. i know your wondering how do you break your wrist in volleyball? well i have no idea. but anyways that was in april and now its almost september. im all healed and ok to play. but i havent played since april. i mean yeah tonigh i'm definitley going to practice. and i mean i'm definitley not the worst at it. volleyball is not a big sport at my school, they only established a middle school volleyball team this year and i dont know anyone who is going to the tryouts. so i guess what i'm asking is:
what should i do to get ready for tryouts??
any advice on what to do during tryouts?
** please only answer this if you play volleyball or if you arent on a team but you know a lot about it
thank you sooooooo much! =]
Practice falling down, like when your going to get a low spike, and not landing on your wrist. Thats probably how you did it the first time. Practice your approach to spiking, and do some push ups to get some arm strength for serving. I hope I helped!! && Good Luck!!
Hey okay i almost have my back-hand spring, or according to thers i do i just won't do it. I don't know why i won't do it i won't to, but i freeze up any advice.. Alos a hurkey and side hurderler!!! i keep getting legs mixed up>>>.any advice would be greatly appreciated
The back hand spring will come. Once you do it by yourself, you'll have no problem after. Try having just one person spot you, then have them only put their hand behind you, not touching you. That is doing it by yourself. Then try moving to someone just standing there. Thats how I did it, and I got mine two weeks after starting gymnastics. If your scared, don't push it, that will just cause injury. Around my town we have different names for the hurks. Our side hurk is your side hurderler. This is your still facing to the front, your "right" leg will go up, your arms parallel to your right leg, and your left is bent. Bent as in if your sitting in a sit jump.
http://www.oakharborcheer.com/RightFrontHurdler.jpg
((her leg realllly gets up there, haha))
A hurkey is pretty much the same. Instand of bending down, you'll be straight up, your "right" arm parallel to your "right" leg. Your "left" arm will either be on your hip or straight in the air or out.

" " means either leg or arm. I hope I helped!! A little crazy, but I tried!
ok im on jv cheerleading at my high school. anyways, i just got my back handspring all by myself on the tumble track (the trampoline thing) at my tumbling classes. i am so excited! my tumbling coach kept telling me dont worry im spotting you. its weird but i cant ever tell when they touch my back, i just assume. but after i did it alone for awhile he was like i wasnt even spotting you. you did it by urself :D then i kept doing them over and over!! i am so happy, but now im thinking, well its going to be a lot harder to do it on the ground, right? i would really love to get it on the ground. is it going to be that much harder? and what tips would help me to transition from the tumble track to the ground without starting all over, and being able to get it quickly? thank you so much!
well, you have the motions down. It will be a lot harder, bc the trampoline was giving you bounce when pushing off. Stop doing them on the trampoline, bc these two twins in my grade were soooo use to doing them on the tumble track, they almost hit their head on the ground ever time they did it bc their arms werent strong enough, and may I add, they we;re SMALL. You need to stop doing it on the track, and start on the ground. Work on your arms, do push ups every day. Anything for get your arms stronger. I hope I helped
i am interviewing a basketball player and making an article about it. i'm 15/f along with most of the players if it helps. but what should i ask...the season is just starting and its a brand new school so its their first season ever...what should i ask?
thx
-How do you think this season will go
-Who do you think will be your strong points in the team
-What do you want most out of this season
-Who do you think will be your toughest game this year
-What do you think of the coaches
-Do you hope that this season will give this new school a great name for sports.
I hope I helped!! =D
15/f okayy well my gymnastics tryouts are on wednesday and i dont really have a floor routine so i need to make one up. does anyone know any good floor routine music? (something i can find online or limewire or itunes..not something i have to buy preferably). also if anyone does gymnastics and has ideas for floor routines or has a floor routine they found online or would explain to me that would be great! (i can make up my own tumbling passes i just need dance stuff) THANKS SO MUCH!
Im not in a gymnastics like yours, But I am a cheerleader! Haha, so try finding music to like newer songs. Like solja boy, and so on. And put the dance in it, then go off and do a tumbling pass. I think your not allowed to have words in your songs right? If so then just look up Solja boy music on limewire or whatever you have. This is somethign cute I saw today at my competion. do a back roll on the ground and go straight up to a handstand, come out of it then do backhand springs. Try doing a matrics thing, like Ciara does, we did that today and the crowd went crazy.
Try doing a bunch of jumps. Like 5 in a row or something. Im not sure if you really spend time doing that for gymnastics, but if so, then that would be awesome.
Sorry I didnt really give all that much. But I thought I gave some good things haha. Good luck!! =D
What do they usually have you do at tryouts for a freshman basketball team? (mens)
Please Answer =]
Thanks
At my school, the freshman try out for JV and varsity, but its all the same try out. They usually have you do drills, Like lay ups, shooting, dribbling, passing. Then they will probably let you play 5 on 5 for a half hour or more. Thats at my school, Im thinking its the same for every other school for the most part. Good Luck! && dont be scared! =D
Okay so my basketball season is atarting and i need some advice on conditioning and eating right i want to be in top shape and stay that way. What are some ideas i should do to work on my basketball skills and condition. And What should i eat and not eat??
Just dont over eat. Start running, even after practice...
Ok, so this year on our cheerleading squad isn't going as well as we planned. we have had 2 girls quit on us already. today i just found out another one quit for no reason. i have NO idea why she quit!! well our first competiton is this sunday and we need help FAST. Does anyone know any stunts we could do WITHOUT a backspotter that would look cool?? please help!! thanks so much!!!!!
Unless you guys are really good at stunting, there really isnt one you can do without one. But if you guys are really good at it. You can do an elevater up to shoulder height. Not all the way, its so far. And instead of a basket toss, you can just reach up with the one hand and have her jump down like that to get out of it. Uhmm. Should stands need three people, but then the back spotter could leave after she gets up. And have the other girl (that would help gold her if you were both holding her) be the back spot. Now this is only if you guys are really good at it. If you guys are "okay" please dont even try it. Maybe practice it. But im sure you guys wont be ready bc you only have 5 days of practice to get use to all the speed and the rush you guys will feel at the competion.
Here is something that looks pretty simple.
http://www.cheertechnique.co.uk/images/coach_stunt.jpg
Now how the girl in the middle is hold both, maybe have the other girl that would be doing the tigh stand be back spot since there would be an extra.
Something that looks hard, but Im sure isnt.
http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/ywca/photos/wpe23.jpg
instead of hold in the girl up, have her do a split have her feet on each girls shoulder. My team never tryed this. But Im thinking you wont need a back person. Maybe to get her up, but then leave.
http://www.securesearch.org/sports_video/cheerleading/images/cheerpics7.gif
Like that, but those two girls are in the air, I know it. But have them standing on the Ground.
I hope I helped..
Good luck & be safe! =D
What is the best way not to let your period from leaking during ball? I don't wear tampons.. I useally wear the underarmor shorts underneath my shorts to prevent it but it makes me run like a chicken..lol.. what should i do? we wear a light color shorts btw
Get a longer pad. And its good that you wear those underarmor shorts, that way the pad doesnt move around. I wear two sets of panties when I have a pad lol
okay so i play volleyball and i love it. but i hate the little shorts u have to wear cause i hate my legs. and like im embarresed to where the shorts like to the point where when i do wear them i want to start crying. sometimes i will. and like i dont know what to do about it cause i hate feeling like that. help?
I know you cant wear longer shorts or sweatpants. So maybe try to work out your legs to make them look better!.. try sitting against the wall for 10 mins. everyday. To get more toned legs.. I Hope I Helped
I believe it's possible for me to get a right & left leg split by the end of summer (note my exlusion of the straddle split..hahaha) So..um..how should I go about it? I know I have to practice..but like..how often should I do it/do I hold or bounce/etcetc..
(ps gymnastics tryouts are on august 31!)ty in advance
get as far down as possible without hurting yourself. Sit there for a few then bounce. Or have your mom/dad hold your hands above you and make you bounce. I did that and I got mine in about a week a week and a half. If your REALLY flexable it will come easy. I hope I Helped
I want to try out for the JV cheerleading team at my school. What do I need to know how to do to make the team? What should I practice doing? I'm trying to get in shape for it right now. I'm 5'5 and 140 pounds, and I plan on loosing more, but how much more would be good? What should I absolutely not do if I want to be a good cheerleader? Thank you so much!
I'm 5'5 and 140lbs. But Im Not Fat, I have a good body. So if your like me, and your not fat, you really dont need to lose any more weight. JV needs to know all the same the varsity does. So make sure your motions are sharpe, and stif. At my school we toss people in the air. You'll probably be a base, thats what I am. Make sure your strong! Make sure you do atleast every jump 10-20 times everyday. If you REALLY want your jumps better, Sit on the ground and open your legs. Place your hands infront of yourself close to your body. And left your right leg and move it backwords. Do this 10 times, Then the left leg. Then you can repet, but its hard the first couple times. This will help your toetouches soo much. They will help you get your legs more opened.
I know for some schools, you have to have a backhand spring. So maybe start taking gymnastics and work your butt off. If you dont need one then still try to get into gymnastics. I hope I heled
i am new to my high schools cheerleading squad. most of the girls are really good at their round offs, i can do mine but it sucks. i can get my feet together to land at the same time, but my problem is that when i land my feet down, my arm is still on the ground, just like they are after doing a cartwheel. what i need to learn to do is when i land to pull my body up so im not bent over still like kind of so i can fly backwards, and also how to pull my hands off the ground before i actually land, because when i try to pull my hands away i lose my balance or get scared that i will fall on my head. sorry if this is confusing, but any tips?! thanks so much!
Okay.. let me try to explain this.. haha
Alright question one. Before you go on your hands, are you flipping yourself facing the way your coming?
Two. Are you running hard enough? Running hard will just make you land on your feet.
Three. You might not be strong enough. You need to PUSH off the ground once your hands hit. They should only be on the ground for like not even a second. If thats it, Start lifting. Thats what youll have to do. Or just do them A LOT.
Have a girl that is good at them, tell you what your doing. Do it, then have her correct you. Shell probably say you need to get stronger.
I Hope I Helped and when you like leep or whatever to go down on your hands you like twist yourself to where when you put your hands down, your fingers should be ALMOST pointing to the way you came. Look at steps a b c and d

When your coach puts you last in the order what does it say about you? like does it mean your fast, good hitter, good bunter, etc. someone said its just like another lead off batter. Can someone tell me some stuff about it? thankss.
I agree. Like if the people before you kinda suck, then you go in, and the other team is like wow shes about to suck, and their not ready for what you got! And BAM Your awesome!! Hope I helped
i need this ASAP!! its due on monday.. a basketball project.. can anyone tell me (please) the techniques of basketball and how they work example : dribbling offense defense rebound, etc) and then how it wrks for example: dribbling. You have to .. bla bla bla// somethinhg like that coz i know nothing bout basketball and i really need helkp coz i wont be able to do this project over the weekend because i have to go to church the whole weekend so can you please tell me the basic techniques of basketball, something that i can undersatnd and please dont use big words coz i dont know thos words lol... thanks oh and if youre a too generous person can you also tell me the basic rules of basketball coz i also need it but techniques is numero uno ok? thanks so much
dribbling- you have to be slighly bent over, keep the ball at waist high, always look up..
shooting-keep your shooting elbow in,(shoot with one hand, not two) when releasing the ball, take your shooting arm straight up but when the ball releases, flick your fingers down.
to play defense- stay low, bend your knee and arch your back not to much but just enough. slid your feet, dont hop. keep your arms out. one higher then the other. you cant really touch the oppiste team, maybe a touch here and there, but you cant run them over, you grab anything.
if your person doesnt have the ball, then you can hold on to their jersey, not alot, but just so they know your there. and when they start to move, let go.
rebounding(this might not be good, im not a post) but dont go to far under the basket. maybe a foot and a half away from it. dont jump to soon or to late, when it first starts to come down is when you want to jump.
passing the ball.
there are two ways to do this.
bounce pass, you want to pass the ball with bounce. if someone is running infront of you, pass the ball to where the WILL be. not where they are at when you pass it.
chest pass- this is a strong hard pass- to do this start from your chest and aim it at your friends chest, if they are running, again, throw the ball to where they will be and not where their at now.
rules..
no double dribbling-meaning your dribbling, and you touch it with both hands at the same time, and start dribbling again.
no carrying the ball- meaning pretty much holding the ball and running with it.
no fighting
only 5 players playing at a time for a team
if you foul someone, they get a free throw.
freethrow- a free shot with noone around them, they stand infront of the basket, 10 feet away (theres a line where thats at) and gets two chances, unless they get fouled and make the basket, then they only get one.
your not allowed to push someone, that will get you kicked out of the game.
there is a half court mark. once you have the ball and pass that line, where you basket is, you can NOT go back over it with the ball, thats called over and back.
there is out of bounds making the shape of the court.
---your really lucky i did this. like the person said, we're not here to do your homework, but im in a gooood mood, and loooove basketball, so did this. any more help IM me xo sam e kay 09
hope i helped
ok so this year i am doing track and my friends talked me into it...i know i have "junk in the trunk" and my uniform doesn't fit so well tommorow i have a track meet and i dont want to look retarded in front of any1 plus i need to find sum spare shoes to run in b4 tomm. is there anything you can do to your clothes that will make them a little bit bigger for the next day!!! PLEASE HELP!!! -Delesha
put them on now. and like move your legs around. to make them loose.
Okay heres the deal. i can do a front handspring and a round off and a back bend. and on the trampoline i can also do in addition to that a front tuck and front flip. i cant do a back handspring but i can do a back bend. does anyone have any advice on how to do this without going to a class? p.s. i'm also going to get gymnastics mats and the trampoline has a net around it. i am 14
doing the back handspring on the trampoline is a bad idea. cause then youll get use to doing it with extra bounce, and when you do it on the ground, you wont go high enough and youll fall on your face. so have a friend that knows how to do one, and has been doing it for awhile, spot you. maybe have two friends?.. but make sure at elast one fot hem knows how to spot. you need to bulid up your arms. so try holding handstands for as long as possible on a wall..
the things you need to actually learn how to do a backhandspring right, is a correct back walk over.. to do that, you have one leg out front and go back, flip over. it helps build up your arms, and the better you get at that, the faster you can go over, and that will help with the speed for a back handspring. hope i helped! and please be safe..
