i am new to my high schools cheerleading squad. most of the girls are really good at their round offs, i can do mine but it sucks. i can get my feet together to land at the same time, but my problem is that when i land my feet down, my arm is still on the ground, just like they are after doing a cartwheel. what i need to learn to do is when i land to pull my body up so im not bent over still like kind of so i can fly backwards, and also how to pull my hands off the ground before i actually land, because when i try to pull my hands away i lose my balance or get scared that i will fall on my head. sorry if this is confusing, but any tips?! thanks so much!

What I do is lay a mat down folded up hard one, and put your hands on it when your going over, make sure your popping off your hand through your sholders. Make sure your arms are tight, and to be able to keep your legs together, put something in them like a bean bag a small pretty flatt one and make the goal to be to be able to keep it in there the whole time. One of the people below me said to see if you are running enough. That is another big mistake really the only time you run in round offs is when you are connecting them to make a tumbling pass. If you have a good solid round off you should be able to do one without running at all. Another thing is after you are comming out of your round off try re-bounding it which it jumping up with the extra power, try and keep your arms tight and in-line with your shoulders and keep your elbows straight. Sorry this is probally really long and confusing. But it is hard to explain while typing and not being able to show you. But if you need more help or anything or are confussed by what Im telling you then feel free to pm me. Good luck! [ turn-n-burn's advice column | Ask turn-n-burn A Question ]
CheerCrazyx0x answered Friday August 17 2007, 6:57 pm: Hey!.. ok well.. like the girl below me said strength is a major part of your problem... make sure you are doing excercises even at home to help...calve raises on your stairs.. crunches...lunges..etc.. also the key to having a powerful roundoff is the run into it.. take a deep breath before you go, then run fast and use your arms alot to gain momentum.. then swing your arms and in your round-off you don't want to be too hard on your wrists.. so make it flow.. reach your arms straight out in front of you and keep them up by your ears.. stay tight.. and snap your legs down.. keeping your arms by your ears for rebound... make sure you stretch your round-off out because it will add alot more momentum... practice them ALOT..round-offs are extremly important when it comes to running tumbling..it's where you get all your power... don't think too much about it or else you will confuse yourself and freak yourself out.. just go with the flow and do what feels comfortable for you.. practice alot!!.. you'll get it in no time!! good luck [ CheerCrazyx0x's advice column | Ask CheerCrazyx0x A Question ]

Alright question one. Before you go on your hands, are you flipping yourself facing the way your coming?
Two. Are you running hard enough? Running hard will just make you land on your feet.
Three. You might not be strong enough. You need to PUSH off the ground once your hands hit. They should only be on the ground for like not even a second. If thats it, Start lifting. Thats what youll have to do. Or just do them A LOT.
Have a girl that is good at them, tell you what your doing. Do it, then have her correct you. Shell probably say you need to get stronger.
I Hope I Helped<3
No you dont really bend your arms, just a little, but you/noone can really tell. Also bc your suppose to do it fast, and then you really cant tell.
Like okay.. hmm.. your running ---> and when you like leep or whatever to go down on your hands you like twist yourself to where when you put your hands down, your fingers should be ALMOST pointing to the way you came. Look at steps a b c and d
