iv recently fell in love with taekwondo mma but my parents say its to expensive.. what is the average prices of taekwondo mma, or how can i get things to train cheaply. mine is $90 monthly and $40 every level up test and then i bought the uniform but i havent gotten all my sparring gear yet i still need $30 more worth of essential stuff. is that normal? what are some muscle drills that work faster n so on? anyyy help on that subject would be perfect thanks!

Many MMA gyms that are considered "legitimate" enough to use a belt system will cost you in that price range. The MMA gym I go to, however, teaches Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and boxing, but doesn't have a system of ranking. They just teach you at whatever level you're comfortable with and move along as you decide. This gym only costs me $45 a month. I won't be officially recognized for anything I learn, but I don't particularly care. I'm just doing it for the health benefits. If you don't care about having a belt or gi, you could do what I did and find some hole-in-the-wall gym with a small but close-knit group of students.

I bought my gear on clearance from mmawarehouse.com, and my bag gloves, handwraps and mouthpiece cost me all of $30.

I suggest attending any aerobic kickboxing classes you can find. That will kick your ass in the most positive way possible.

is there anybody whos in tae kwon do or martial arts that could tell me the order of belts.. i know its white orange yellow then green... and does white really count?

I believe it went like this, in the class I was in: White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, Black. Between each color belt, you would receive a belt of the same color with a stripe of the next on it. For example, after your blue belt, you would receive a blue belt with a red stripe.

Black belts have different degrees; first through ninth, I believe. I heard about a tenth that was just an honorary title, but I don't know if anyone has one anymore.

Don't take my word for it, though. I dropped out of Tae Kwon Do just before I qualified for my green belt. This is just from memory.

my dad is a basketball coach for a high school team. he is also my basketball coach. im 13/F. anyways, he is always forcing me into sports. i think i found a sport that i really love, but he wants me 2 be involved in atleast 2 at a time. thats not fair bcuz i want to practice volleyball and improve in it instead of basketball. ive tried to get out of it. even my mom is tryin to get my out of basketball but he just wont let me out. what do i do?

*deeply troubled*

You need to have a serious talk with your dad. He's thinking too much about his job, more than he's thinking about the toll it takes on you. I'm guessing you're still in middle school, so doing 2 sports at once isn't SO bad...but once you get to high school you can more or less forget about that. Explain to your dad that when you get to high school, 1 sport will be stressful enough. If you only take 1 now, and improve upon it, you'll be a lot better next year.

I am going to start fencing because our university has a fencing club and I have always been interested in sowrd play so it is a logical decision. At any rate, my question is this. Should I start with an epee, a foil, or a saber?

A foil is best as a start. It is solely a piercing weapon, and it is much easier to focus on one type of attack at a time than trying to learn a combination of piercing and slashing at the same time. Of course, if you'd rather learn slashing instead of piercing a foil would not be your weapon of choice.
