What are some signs of anorexia, or signs of going in the path of anorexia? also if your heading in the path to anorexia what are way you can stop yourself? thanks. ill rate 5s for good anwers (link)

some of the basic signs are
not eating or eating minimally
lack of energy/always tired
dizzyness, especially after working out
obsessing over weight and worrying about how certian foods will affect it
constantly counting calories
depression
easily upset
feelings of helplessness
loss of color in face
weight lost of 15% or more below the "normal weight"
bmi of under 18.5
loss of period
low blood pressure which can lead to heart attack
fear of weight gain
distorted self-image
the only way to stop it is to tell someone and hope they help. parents are the best because they care about you the most. friends can help, but not to the extent needed because they will be afraid of making you mad, whereas parents won't care if your mad at them as long as you're getting help. :)

Well I'm a 16 year old girl.
I usually have a huge appetite and I would eat enough for about two or three people my age but for the last month I have had no appetite at all. My friends think I'm going anorexic but I'm not. I want to eat like I used to but I'm never hungry. It has been 5 weeks since I lost my appaetite and I see no signs of it coming back soon. My friends and I are getting worried because I have now lost almost 7 pounds and I was originally at the healthy weight of 124. I don't know what to do. I talked to my counselor and she told me to go to the docotr but I just went to the docotr about three weeks ago because my throat was looking really bad and hurting. She also told me to eat healthy when I do eat and for the most part I do. When I eat I usually eat like a few bites of a sandwich or a small amount of pasta or a piece of fruit. I just don't know what to do. My friends think I might be developing an eating disorder but I don't think so. (link)

try to figure out why you've lost your appetite. like have you started taking a new medicine or stopped doing a sport or something? your not as hungry because your metabolism probably isn't running as fast as it used to. you could try taking green tea pills, drinking green tea or lemon juice to get your metabolism back up and then being able to eat as much as you used to and keep your friends from worrying. :)

k this summer i was slightly anorexic and now i keep getting really moody when i have to eat fattening food
also i get hungry at ten in the morning, 4 in the afternoon, and ten at night, even though i have to eat every mori=ning at 6:30, 11:50 for lunch, and 7 ish for dinner.
how can i fix this? i dont really eat that much at meals and then snack or go hungry between.

If you cant emotionally handle eating fatty foods, try to find healthy alternatives. like dried fruits with natural sugars instead of chocolate. etc.
and try eating at the times you have to, and not when your hungry and you may be able to alter your eating schedule.
if you start relapsing into anorexia, which is not hard to do, try talking to someone who can help. :)

I've tried eating fruits for a meal (Like apples), but minutes later, I'm hungry again! This doesn't make sense to me. Why does this happen?
Also, I don't like many veggies. Are there any vegetables that actually TASTE GOOD? I can't stand broccoli.
Last question! If you want to lose weight, is it REQUIRED to decrease the intake of carbs? I'm a very picky eater, and most of the food I eat has carbs. (link)

some fruits and vegetables are negative calories. meaning the calories in the apple or whatever are all burned off by the time you have digested.
try eating some veggies with something else. like celery or carrots and ranch dressing or broccoli or cauliflower with cheese sauce. or salad with different types of dressings and toppings like cheese or meats.
its not required to decrease the carbs to loose weight, you just need to eat healthy meals and not eat alot of sugars or fats. :)

okay i i dont really eat im kinda anorexic and now i havent been getting my period...is this bad? i am still a virgin so im not pregnant. I had it lightly like 3 months ago and its usually really heavy and now i just dont have it at all.. im really scared. i dont want to tell my mom because she doesnt know that i dont eat ((they dont really pay much attention to what i do)) but what in the world do i do!?! you are (believe it or not) too skinny. BE CAREFUL. if you don't get your period soon, you may not be able to have kids when you get older because it kills your eggs. you could also have a heart attack because your body will start to eat your muscles (including your heart) in order to get the nutrients it needs. tell your mom. you need to get help, maybe see a weight therapist or nutritionalist. anorexia is so dangerous, but i'm sure you already know that. please be careful. :)

Anorexia is when you starve yourself. its dangerous because of the weight loss involved. girl's who are underweight loose their period, and therefore might loose their ability to have kids later on in life, and if enough weight is lost, there is a great risk of heart-attacks because once there is no body-fat to eat, your body starts going after muscle and as your heart is a muscle, your body will start eating it to compensate for the lack of caloric intake. many other illnesses also go along with anorexia, including depression, anemia (lack of iron in red blood cells), dehydration, malnutrition, osteoporosis, and many others.
anorexia is also hard because it's so hard to recover from because its as much a mental disease as a physical one and so as long as one wants to loose weight, they will most likely not try to recover from anorexia. :)

hey all.. i have a quick question about anorexic girls. how come they eat so little and burn so many calories but their boobs dont get smaller? i'm on a diet now nad it's safe and healthy and i'm loosing about 1/2 a pound a week and it seems my boobs are getting smaller! any way i can prevent it? why doesn't it happen to them? fyi, it does happen to them. anytime you loose any ammount of weight, it comes off your boobs because they are mostly made up of fat. you may not notice it on them because they may have implants (some girls with eating disorders at my school do) but how would you be able to really tell if their boobs were getting smaller. im sure people don't notice that they're shrinking like you do, because they are yours. :)

ok i am starting to feel really, really guilty after i eat anything(even a salad or fruit).my freinds tell me i need to stop worrying and that i am stupid for feeling that. my freinds say i am gonna have a "disorder". thoughts?help?thanx.

that feeling of guilt after eating is a symptom of an eating disorder. you shouldnt feel guilty at all because your underweight. your bmi is 18.3 and anything before 18.5 is considered underweight. so dont worry! if you are afraid of developing an eating disorder then talk to a parent, or if you don't want them to know, talk to your doctor. eating disorders are bad and can mess with your life and ruin relationships. it you can head it off early, the better off you'll be. if u need someone to talk to feel free to visit my column. :)

Do you think if I cut out all sodas would I lose about 5-7 lbs in 2 weeks? I usually drink about 1-2 sodas a day, but I am not overweight or anything I am 5'5 and 110 lbs. I would just like to lose about 5 lbs or so. Also I hear people say to even cut diet soda out? I thought diet soda was okay to drink b/c it has no calories, how could I benefit from not drinking diet either? (link)

diet sodas cut calories, but they have an ingredient that make you retain sugars or something so it actually stimulates weight gain. its just diet soda because it has a sugar substitute instead of sugar. im not sure if you could loose 5-7 in 2 weeks, but you would def. loose weight by cutting out sodas and also alot of juices. stick to water, specially with lemon juice in it. (the lemon juice will speed up your metabolism) good luck. :)

What are some healthy snacks you can replace with junk food to not eat just a bunch of swets- but somethign actually nutricious! Lol please don't send me to a website to look b/c i hate it when they do that...

granola bars, dried fruits, honey bunches of oats cereals bars (the cranberry almond ones are my favorite), cereal, and then the obveous fruits and veggies :)

OK well i think i might be annorexic. I'm about 4'9 and only like 86 pounds. That never seems to be thing enough for me. I'm always trying to lose weight some how or another. Now i don't know what to do...i don't want to tell my mom b/c i'm not sure if i am or not and i don't want to worry her. I'm just scared that i'm getting myself into trouble with this stuff...does anyone have ne suggestions for me? I'm scared...i dont want to end up in the hospital b/c of this...thanks in advance! talk to your mom, and get her to take you to a dr. you need to get help asap...because this could ruin your life. if your not ready to go to anyone yet, just try eating small meals more frequently... like have a bowl of fruit, granola bars, just something...anorexia is really dangerous and one you are, its extremely hard to stop. get out while u can. :-)

Yeah...you may be in the beginning stages of anorexia, and the guilt thing goes along with that. and you may not actually be fat, but people have a tendency to be hard on themselves and be very critical of appearances, so while you may see youself as fat, others don't. My advice, try to eat something at each meal, even if it's not alot and if you can't do that eat one bigger meal a day, and then just snack on healthy stuff. don't eat too much or u will feel guilty and that could lead to bingeing. hope everything works out and u can im me at southernsweetyeh if you need more help!
