I'm trying to teach myself how to play guitar..Is it better to learn chords first or the notes? And does anybody know a good website that would be helpful? Thanks so much.. =] (link)

It would really help if you told us what sort of music your tryin to play :P
if its acoustic, try "Sitting waiting Wishing" by jack johnson just to start out with. its full of easy chords that just take a little time to nail propperly.
if its more rock influenced then try "seven nation army" by white stripes. that song will teach you power chords.
I taught my self to play guitar and am still playing 10 years on. i started out by tryin to make simple tunes on one string, then got adventurous and used 2 strings. then started to learn chords by learning my favorite songs. but for gods sake go for somthing slow and a little easy other wise youll just get bored of not being able to do it.

i want to start recording my music by myself. id use audacity for one guitar and a video for my voice and bass guitar. is there any way that i can record myself on film and match it up to the audio on audacity so that i can do both guitars and see me sing in sync?? (link)

i was gonna answer this a few days ago but i stopped because i didnt know what to tell you :S i came back and i see there are still no answer's...
so im gonna try really hard to give you some kind of technological inspiration.
I'v used aucdacity before and i can tell you what you are trying to achieve wont really get you the results your looking for... at least not easily.
(i have just tested this next one myself and it may just work for you)
Using my hacked version of SONY Vegas Video editing software you may use a webcam and its built in microphone(OR A DESKTOP MIC OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL MIC) you can record one piece then move that clip forward and start recording the next part as soon as the first part starts playing.
Helpfull tips are to use a metronome for the first part just so you can get the perfect timing. Im going to see about using my High Def camera as a webcam and use its microphone to record my youtube video's.
Hopefully iv been a bit of help. The version of sony vegas im using is Sony Vegas Platinum 9.0 you can find yoiutube videos telling you how to get this application for free using patches and/or other hacks. (it doesnt take long to do, half an hour tops) its a brilliant program though. Im probably going to go and actually buy it because its only about 40 quid i believe.

go nuts and use a can of house paint and glitter if you will but they charge so much for the changing of colours because it is extremely hard to get a factory quality finish on them without doing somthing that will make it looks disgusting. i would be happy with what you got buddy :s but other than decoration tips... ummm... maybe you could reserach into some kind of plastic base paint and then really really carefully paint them? but as i said before the factory finish and blah.

2 things about this tab, at the top of the page in the light blue box, it says Highlighted and a tick box next to it will be ticked
to the right of that it will say show chrod diagrams and tick that box on that one, where it says use capo on 1st fret it means you need a Capo which is a small arm that holds all the strings along what ever fret you place it on. or you could just tune up half a step but dont snap a string, it should be fine though.

iv tried both tabs and i would say the first one is much better to play.. but if you cant read tabs then practice with the second one or if the first is too hard, but i lik the first one the intro is near perfect and the verses and chorus sounds exact.
the second tab is probably the one your looking for, but that last chord (Bm) is a tricky one to pull off quickly. you need alot of hand strength through practice to nail that one and make th strings not buzz on the frets. try both of them and deffinatly learn to read tabulature.

Depends what sort of band your in.
theres a drummer on youtube called Machine Gun Smith, his last or first name is smith so he used his name to incorporate it into a stage name. he's also in a metal band and plays drums amazingly. but unless you tell us what your playing and (if you want to) tell us your name maybe we could do somthing like that and come up with a few for you, or starter ideas?

Just beacause you want to play your music and cant psyically do it while being away doing somthing your supposed to do doesnt mean you cant still be creative with it.
i say this because i'v been playing guitar for well over 8 years and im 17 (18 next month) and iv had a few off times where i dont get to play for long amounts of time. what i started doing during those times was thinking about playing my guitar and the different techniques while anylysing my playing style, say i do alot of palm mutes in my playing or somthing then i try to tihnk of an original tune in my head that involves that aspct of playing then i record my thoughts on paper with maybe a tab if its really clear, if not then i just sing the tune in to my mp3 player. remember, to get better at what you love doesnt allways mean practice of the practicall kind but of the analytical and thoughtfull type. what can you do? dreamy sounding chords? scales? it all depends on what you think your able to acheive.
a couple of weeks ago i was in school doing what i do best and laying back with a ton of work i needed to get done by the next day day dreaming about guitars and stuff when a couple of people were next to me talking about somthing or other one of them made a funny sound as the other poked them to wake them up, some how it reminded me a chord i could play so i wrote it down and now im in the process of finishing one of the best tunes i'v ever composed. listening to music is a great way to get inspired but try and step out of the normall stuf and listen to things you wouldnt normall listen to, maybe an underground artist who hasnt been massivaly noticed by the public.
i would start on youtube there allways alot of videos there, i have a video i found by accident one night thats a great song. it has a simple piano part but its very... effective and breath taking at the same time

Hey iv been doing what your trying for the past 9 years, download a FREE program called Audacity its a mutli track recording program so you can record what ever tune you like through it then play it back while recording the next part to it.

Iv never had a desire to look for one but i am very into music so i'v had a good look for say 30 mins shamefully iv only found this pathetic list of 1. seems Ipod's and mp3's have taken over from huge chunkey old school ghetto blasters which is a shame because they have a real character about them.

Its not illegal to have the program but it is illegal to download music and movies from it, use it wisely. by the way just download limewire pro off of lime wire thats what i did when i had it. but i buy my music now

I just listend to the song you mean (just wanna say its freekin awesome!) but i think it has ALOT of racial and controverstial content in those first few sentances, so the person either couldnt hear what the hell they said or that he wont translate because its too offending and it goes against his moral's.

but the intro part is an Acoustic Gutiar
at around 27 seconds into the video the bass guitar and Drum's come in
then at around 40 seconds the Synthesisers start (I'ts an electronic keyboard) the effect the synth has is an Organ (like a church organ)
at 52 seconds the small sounds you can hear are Pan Flutes (it could possibly be the synth making that sound again though, by the way it sounds i would say it is)
then at 1.10 its the synthesisers again with a Reverb/Phaser effect but its not the organ sound though i have no idea what it is sorry :(
then again at 2.14 that is deffinatly a reverb effect (Reverb = Echo) and its the synth again but the instrument its immitating elludes me,
I'm no professional but i have a huge interest in music and the instruments used. hopefully i helped a little bit.

I play guitar and I have been trying to write lyrics lately. They all sound horrible though because they are so corny.
They also just sound like I've written a story. In most songs parts of them don't really make sence and they arent written like a story.
I've looked on heaps and heaps of lyric and song writing websites but none have been any help to me :S

hey im a guy 17, iv been playing guitar for well over 10 years and iv just started writing lyrics too, as you have a computer i found the easiest way to write songs is to not play them while thinking of things to write about, or thinking of words that ryhme to make your song. the best way i found for my self to write any lryics is to record them onto your pc and play them back.
all you need is a cheapo mic from Asda (WalMart if your american) mine cost 5 quid and its had really great quality since i bought it 4 years ago. with that microphone use the FREE Recording Program "Audacity" version 1.2 is the version i have, its extremely easy to use and edit.
the other way of writing lyrics is to take your time over it, seriously... iv rushed lyrics before and sang them back thinking what the bloody hell is this!! use bigger words every now and then to spice things up, other than stuff like Cat sat and Mat use stuff like "Recoiling emotion spreads the comotion, my mind isnt at peace with the choices that proceed to great my every distant fantasy which someday will end me"
that probably wasnt the best i could come up with but for a one liner off the top of my had i hope you get what i mean :D (by the way while writing that i was listening to one of my old recordings that i didnt quite finish)
