Answers That I've Given
Question:
So, I have a "Elliptical Cross-Trainer" at home, and I was thinking, if I use it every day, for 15-20 minutes, will that help me lose weight, or just build muscle?
Also, I'm going to stop snacking and eating fast food, and giving up energy drinks + sodas.
I've been drinking a litre of water a day for the past few weeks, will that help me lose weight as well?
Basically, I'm not obese, and my BMI is average, but I'm chubby, I only need to lose about 5-8Kgs.
Thanks :)
My Answer:
Just the fact that you're giving up fast food, snacks, energy drinks, and sodas alone is enough to, if not decrease your weight, at least stop you from gaining weights. Drinking a lot of water and exercising will only help you even more.
But the problem here is that your BMI is already at average.
If you are eating right and drink a lot of water, plus exercising everyday, your body will adjust itself to be fit. If you are overweight, you will lose weight. But if you are at the right weight or if you are underweight, then you will GAIN weight instead, because by exercising, you are gaining muscles.
So what exactly are you attempting to do here? Are you attempting to look fit or are you attempting to lose a certain a number of weight?
If you are attempting to be fit, then I recommend you to increase your exercise time to thirty minutes each day. Besides that, you also need to eat fruit, drink a lot of water, and eat until you are full at your three main meals--breakfast, lunch, and dinner (to prevent malnutrition).
If you are attempting to lose a certain number of weight, then I suggest you to keep doing what you're doing now, but decrease your exercise rate to THREE DAYS A WEEK and twenty minutes each time.

Also, just an off-topic note, I don't think that you need to lose weight at all. Typically, teenage girls (which includes you, because you are a sixteen-year-old girl) tend to be conscious about their weight.
I might be wrong with that generalization, but be careful with your decisions of losing weight or gaining weight. If you happen to overdone it, the consequences won't be small =)

Thank you so much, very helpful :)
No, I'm not obsessed and thinking when I'm fat when I'm not, but there's just the chub I would like to lose, mainly bra flab and stomach pouch.
But yeah, thanks!
