Q: i was on the depo shot for 6 months and gained 15 pounds. i am terrible at remembering the pill ( plus im concerned about the weight gain) and the nuva ring is really uncomfortable( and im concerned about the weight gain) if i use spermicide and a condom every time i have sex should i be okay? just trying to get unbiased opinions here.

condoms are 99.9% effective (when used properly) regaurdless if you are using any other type of birth control method. Spermicide is also a good "just incase" method. Just be careful with what kinds of spermicides you mix with certain kinds of condoms.
Here's another suggestion, try looking into an IUD like mirena. Its a little "T" shaped plastic or copper piece that doctor can insert in the cervix. It's a minor procedure, with no need for "down time". I'm pretty sure you can choose to be sedated for the procedure. Oh and there is some pain that goes a long with it for a day or so that just feels like menstrual cramps. The IUD is effective for 4 years and can be taken out sooner if you'd like.
