Q: I read that the pregnancy success rate is over 85%. Is it common for most couples to have difficulty getting pregnant, because I am. I should have been pregnant over 50 times by now, but I guess we might not be doing something right. Even when we have sex while I'm ovulating I still don't get pregnant. I don't think that I'm incapable of having children. The both of us are young, healthy and in great shape, but I don't know what the problem is. Could it be that he shoots blanks? How do you even know if a man is?
If you have had children or have shared my problem, please let me know what I can do to increase my chances, whether it is eating or doing certain things, anything. Thank you!

A lot of times it's hard to get pregnant when you're stressed out... Take a nice relaxing vacation and while there get at it. In vitro fertilization can be expensive (not that having a child isn't) and can lead to multiple babies. Did you recently go off birth control? It can take up to 6 months for your body to go back to normal after getting off birth control, thus making it harder to conceive. Here are some other tips
Start taking at least 0.4 mg of folic acid each day two to three months before you start trying to conceive.
After intercourse lay down for a while and relax, this can keep the sperm date last longer.
Try conceiving before bed because it can take many hours for the sperm to reach the egg, so if you're lying down it may make it easier.
Start having intercourse 5 days before your ovulation time about once every two days and through out the ovulation period.
Cut caffeine out of both of your diets.
Avoid vaginal sprays and scented tampons, lubricants, vegetable oils, and glycerin, saliva and douching because they all can kill off sperm.
Remember that it can take around 2 weeks for your levels to show that you're pregnant so if it has been a while and you take all of these things into mind and nothing happens then see a specialist.
