Q: I have a couple of questions regarding cartilage piercings.

#1- what is the best way to take care of the piercing for faster healing and no infections?

#2- I used a gun that I purchased sterilized at a store. When can I change the stud to something smaller?

#1. i just cleaned mine with alcohol for about 4 months, and quit when i knew it was completely healed. i knew it was completely healed when i had no redness, and it didn't hurt at all no matter how i twisted and turned it.

#2. the person who did mine said about 12 weeks, but I didn't want want to do it untill I first changed mine at about 5 months, but I think it would have been fine in as little as two, as long as it heals perfectly and never gets infected, (which adds time you need to wait before changing it.)

from what I read alcohol dries it out.
