Q: i am going to be a freshman and i really want to make the varsity squad for cheerleading. i have had my full since 6th grade and its goten better since. i have troubles with standing tucks. my sister is on varstiy and is always "i can't beleive you cant do a standing but you can do a full"! and it really bothers me, because i dont know how i can get it better. i do it sometimes and my form is fine. I just need basics (i already know how to pull up and tuck) and things that can give me confidence.

if you cant answer its fine, i just noticed your cheerleading screen name
Nope, I can answer it.
There's a website full with pictures and directions how to accomplish [hopefully] what you're looking for. The reason I'm not sure with this, is because, yes, I was a cheerleader, but not one of them who had gymnastics involved.

If this isn't it, I can defiitely help you on how to gain confidence.

First off, you have to believe in yourself. Very typical, but also true. If you have your mind set on negative thoughts, well then, there's no way your going to be able to do it.

If someone like your sister wants to make rude comments like that, obviously she isn't being very supportive. Block out people and things that will bring you down. Just think, and you could even say this, is that, 'hey, i'm working and trying my hardest, ad i'm going to continue the best I can. I'm practicing and improving.'
Practice makes perfect, right?

If there's anyone that could possibly help you, if the instructions didn't, try to gain help, and maybe someone on a higher level could give you tips. Your sister may even be a possible choice.

I understand it's really hard to make Varsity your freshman year, but that doesn't mean you can't do it. You never know (if you're trying out) what the judges are looking for exactly. But don't be totally bummed out if you just make JV, because it's not like you gave up.

If you can't get your standing tuck down in time, make sure you tell them that. It's okay, maybe it's just a weak point for now.

Just PRACTICE PRACTICE PTACTICE!!
And also, just be careful, because the last thing you need is to end up in a body cast in the hospital.

Heyyyy, I'm jess. I love to help other people, no matter what. I've been through enough bs to know when to just stop and walk away. I don't judge; feel free to ask me anything. I have quite the temper. But, what makes me a good advice-giver is that for the most part, I'm genuinely empathetic and willing to help.
(:

I've had a lot of experiences with piercings, bullying, family problems, and even sexual issues (no std's)- but with the emotional part of it. I love music, so I give good, basic advice about that, too. Also, I deal with severe anxiety and depression, and have been in treatment numerous times. On top of that, I have OCD (Obsessive Complulsive Disorder), and because I've been around people addicted to drugs, or cutting, I can help! Just give me the chance.
