Stressing can cause depression.
Talk to someone close to you.
Go out and enjoy the things around you.
Eat a well balanced diet.
Get a good night's sleep.
Ask someone to make a list of your best qualities.
Read a book you enjoy.
Read a book to children.
Write poems.
Do origami.
Play an instument, get those feelings out!
Play a sport you enjoy.
Listen to well-meant advice.
Fly a kite.
Do voluntary work. It is great to know you are doing something to help others.
Seek medical advice if you have persistent depression. A doctor may prescribe an anti-depressant if appropriate.
Try and understand why you are feeling depressed.
Talking it through with someone can help to put it into perspective and help you to see a way through.
Take a walk in the park or do something else you enjoy.
Go to a friend's place and hang out; they will help you because you're a friend, an important person.
Listen to your favorite music.
Enjoy the sunshine. (Use sunblock!)
Tips
Don't be afraid to get better.
Don't be too hasty - everyone has good and bad days.
Remember there are many other people suffering from depression.
Share your troubles with someone, it will help to reduce the burden.
Tell your friends, significant other, family member, teacher, classmate, co-worker or a good neighbour.
Let other people help you.
Don't take too long to get professional help if you think you need it. If not for you, do it for your loved ones who are probably also suffering seeing you this unhappy.
Keep a warm surounding such as a well lighted room or open window curtains/blinds during the day.
Warnings
If you suffer from clinical depression you should seek help.
Don't do anything foolish or illegal.
Don't shut people out - they want to help you.
Try and remember how many wonderful things there are to be happy about in life. Never forget your happiest moments and how they made you feel.
We all have these moments. Good luck.

Heyyyy, I'm jess. I love to help other people, no matter what. I've been through enough bs to know when to just stop and walk away. I don't judge; feel free to ask me anything. I have quite the temper. But, what makes me a good advice-giver is that for the most part, I'm genuinely empathetic and willing to help.
(:
I've had a lot of experiences with piercings, bullying, family problems, and even sexual issues (no std's)- but with the emotional part of it. I love music, so I give good, basic advice about that, too. Also, I deal with severe anxiety and depression, and have been in treatment numerous times. On top of that, I have OCD (Obsessive Complulsive Disorder), and because I've been around people addicted to drugs, or cutting, I can help! Just give me the chance.
