Q: ok well im 14 and i have been a cutter since i was 12. im also anorexic. i have been since i was like 10. i also have trouble eating infront of people, when i have to eat. i just get nervous and very self concious when i eat around other people. even my parents. im 4'10" and i currently weigh 94 lb. i want to get over my cutting and eating disorder SO BAD! i have tryed forever but just run back to them. i think about suicide a lot, espically after this year. this year i lost a lot of friends. 2 died in a car accident on the same day and 4 killed themselves. it has affected me badly.
now i am addicted to cutting. i cant feel the pain anymore. no matter how much or how deep i cut. ive tryed the rubber band thing but it doesnt work. if you have any ideas on how to stop then please answer. i rate high.
First off, I'm not surprised that the rubber band thing failed. I'll explain below.
I believe that the second step to recovery (After admitting you have a problem, which you did), is to know exactly what is causing the problem. See, your body makes a substance a lot like heroin when it feels physical pain. You cut, it gets released in high doses. These high doses are addicting, and you begin to crave them. The rubber band fails because it is still asking for doses, and the only way to stop an addiction is to just stop.
That also explains anorexia, as hunger is a type of pain. That's the physical addiction, and you can get over that in 2 days. Same with the cutting. The mental one is what can take months to complete.
Now, what do you do? First thing I'd do, since you cannot tell your parents, is stop. Easier said than done. What you do is stop for 1 day, and only believe it is a one day thing. Hide any sharp object from yourself, and use alternatives. Such as if you feel anger, punch a pillow. If you feel sad, take a bath. If you want to see blood, draw on yourself with a red pen. The first day is always the hardest.
Then, after one day, reward yourself in a method such as buying a shirt you've wanted. Then, go online and find a support group for cutting. There is one at www.teenhelp.org, but that is mainly for problems. You can find sites specifically dedicated to supporting cutters through an internet search. DO NOT CUT ON DAY 2!
On day 3, I'd suggest you find someone you know and can trust, preferably an adult. This should not be someone who would tell your parents, and make them promise it before you talk to them. Let them know what is going on, and ask for their advise on what to do.
Reward yourself as I said before, even if it sounds stupid, for the first 5 days. Then, go every other day for 10 days. Every 3rd for 15, and you've made a month. Keep in contact with support. I'll be here to support you at all times, I can be contacted at sbloemeke2@yahoo.com

I apologise for not being truely able to help with anorexia, but I think that if you go to your parents and say "I feel thin. I want to put on some weight. Please, just make sure I eat a full meal at every meal", it should work. If you eat alone, you have to make sure of it.
The nervousness of eating in front of people is a fear. I don't know the name, but you fear eating in front of others. And the only way to overcome a fear is to accept it and face it. Accept that you have this fear, and force yourself to eat in front of others, even if it's the last thing you do. If you feel like turning back, think "This is for my own good".

Hope this helps!

THE PENGUIN RULES ALL! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! *Cough*
Hello! My name is Steven, and I am a mentor. Yes, that does mean that I help other people. I have helped over 1000 people to date, and have helped some individuals for over 1/2 a year. The miracle of my life occurred 17 years ago. I say miracle only because 1/4 babies survive to be born.
I am the first born of 2 children, and I am also the black sheep. I listen to Classical Music, so you can call me a weirdo. :P. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so take no offense if my answers never seem to end.
In school, I get As and Bs. More Bs really. I play trombone, and was the section leader of the trombones at my school. This year, I am the captain of the entire brass section. I am an Eagle Scout, so I guess that says I'm persistant? You make the call. I am a 3 time varsity letter winner, looking for a 4th next winter. I also participate in the musical, where I am a Bass 2. :)
I am straight, and have never had a relationship beyond a friend. However, I have survived the bumps in the road, and can advise you if you wish it. Though, it's not my strength.
I'm here for you, and only you. That means that my advise will not always confort you. Heck, it may even scare you. Yet, I want you to do what is best for your mind. Not what is typically seen as best for you, but what YOU see best for YOU. Heck, if you wanted what was seen as best for you, you would've asked your parents what you should do. They give you what's typically best.
Alright, before I start getting tendinitis from writing that over and over again, I'll just say what I mean. I mean that if you ask me about something, let's say walking 10 miles a day, and I think it's rediculous, yet you are asking for something to do, I am NOT going to say "10 miles is the type of a thing a anorexia athletica would do. Try 5." I'll give you something to do.
Oh, and I'm a L1 moderator, which means I rate questions.

Don't hesitate to IM me, I'm usually on. If I'm not, just drop one in the Inbox!

Oh, by the way, I am liberal in everything. That means that abortion is a woman's RIGHT, and gay marriage should be LEGAL.

Ask away!
