Umm...there's really not a whole lot you can do

Have your partner as well as yourself tested for STDs before having sex. If you're both clean, then you're probably fine. If you just REALLY won't get tested...theres not a whole lot you can do. Condoms don't protect from STDs, neither do other birth control devices, so just both you and your partner should get tested. ♥
