I hated Chemistry. SigFigs were really confusing. If you still want help, here's what I can remember.
-All numbers 1-9 are sigfigs. Example: 9461 has 4 sigfigs
-All zeros between sigfigs are sigfigs. Example: 1000606 has 7 sigfigs
-All zeros ending a number with a decimal are sigfigs. Example: 38.0 has 3 sigfigs
-Zeros ending a number without a decimal are NOT sigfigs. Example: 3800 has 2 sigfigs
Here are some more examples.
5013500.600 has 10 sigfigs
83030 has 4 sigfigs
1 has 1 sigfig
10 has 1 sigfig
100,000,000 has 1 sigfig
100,000,000.0 has 10 sigfigs
1.0 has 2 sigfigs
3.20 has 3 sigfigs

Hi, I'm going into 10th grade 16/m- and school hasn't even started yet...
Well.. the harrassment has been going on since 4th grade...
Basically all the popular people and the majority of my class think that I'm a fag (like gay).. but I'm not.. I have a girlfriend of 6 months.. and we're really happy together...
I don't even act gay at all.. everyone just thinks I am.. and I think it's because most of my friends are girls.. but I don't understand why that would make me gay- because wouldn't that mean that I like hanging out with girls because they are nice to me??
I just feel like no one cares about me and everyone is making fun of me
Another thing.. I am one of the smartest people in the class (4.0 average).. and I always do good on tests.. do people make fun of me because they are jealous that I get good grades and they don't.. I mean I don't go around bragging about my grades.. people ask me what I got.. and I just tell them in a modest way...
I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm a homo.. when I'm not...
oh.. and on myspace- I put up a picture that was the one everyone does (upside down peace sign with big sunglasses).. so then one of the people who makes fun of me posts a comment about it saying "wow ur a homo" so i posted a comment back saying "i was making fun of myspace.. lol".. so then he posts regular comments saying stuff like "i wasn't kidding about the pic comment" and "everyone thinks you're a fag" and "we hate you"...
So that just made me think of how much my class despises me- and I don't even say anything mean to them.. I try being nice.. but they just aren't.. the only ones who actually care about me are my close friends.. and that's only like 10 people max. outta the 250-300 in my class...
Am I just worried about nothing?
Am I really that much of a loser?
Please don't say "go talk to a counselor" because I tried that in middle school and the counselor was really stupid about it

Unfortunately, I know exactly what you've been through. I got lucky though: we moved to another state, where I met tons of new friends and no one calls me "gay" anymore.
I went 3 years taking all of that crap you're talking about. I'm a junior, by the way. You have so many choices in how to deal with these immature, insecure, rude, disrespectful people.
But first, let me assure you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Don't give in to what they say. Don't question what they say. If they call you gay, don't start wondering if you are because you and I both know you're not. Think about your situation like this. If you were in a grocery store and a group of people came up to you and began to insult you, what would you think? You would probably think that they were just insignificant, careless people. That's what they are. It's kind of a mystery to me why such hatred is accepted at school, but never in public or at work.
Anyways, here are your choices.
1) Avoid them. If you know they go down a certain hall or eat lunch at a certain table, do not pass them. Block them on myspace, xanga, AIM, etc.
2) Like someone else said, just roll your eyes or sigh when you pass them (it will possibly make you seem mature. It might just add to their sick pleasure, so be careful).
3) Confront them. If they say "You're gay", just say "Well, you're a bitch". NOTE: You should consider the consequences of this. It could do wonders for you, but it could also dig your hole deeper than it already is. If you decide to do this, look for their faults. Are they fat? Acne-infested? Stupid? Ugly? Bring that to their attention.
In my own experiences, #1 helped, #2 helped temporarily, and #3 was just fun. I thought of it as a game. When they would make fun of me, I got upset at first, but then I didn't get upset. I just did what I would do to my friends: make fun of them back (you know how friends say stuff like "you're mean" and then you'd say "well you're ugly" and just laugh about it? That's what I mean. I'd treat the situation like that)
I will most definitely pray for you. It's times like these that really make you feel depressed and make you want to cry. It saddens me to read your question because I relate to it almost exactly and there's nothing I can really do to help. May God bless you. Your luck will turn around. And remember. 3 years seems like a long time, but high school flies by. You won't ever see them again after 3 more years, so why respect their opinion?

I'm sorry that he's in your class. Try not to sit with him or be in a group project with him. You might want to talk to your teacher after class one day and just say "So-and-so and I aren't really good friends, so could you not pair us as partners or seat us near each other?" She should understand.

It sounds like your friends are making fun of you behind your back. This may not be true, but that is probably the reason. I'm sorry =( I've had friends like that. All you should do is ask "...What's so funny?" If their answer is logical and credible, then just say okay. If the answer is definitely a lie, then you should say "Look I know your lieing, and it really hurts my feelings".
From there, you should be able to determine if they are your real friends.
One question, though. Do they look at each other and laugh after everything you say, or only some things?

I'm starting High School this tuesday.
I'm not scared or excited like everyone else is.
My friends are all going to different schools.
And I have a problem with meeting new people.
I have trust issuses with everyone around me(including strangers), so I try not to get close to anybody.
Everyone judges me as mean because of that.
Because of my hair, kids think I'm emo. and I'm tired of only making friends with kids who listen to emo music.
so, what do I say or do?
I want to meet all different types of people.

Join clubs, play sports, get active. In classes, start small conversations with people. If it seems like someone would be a good friend, start asking them to do things with you. Some schools even have new students meetings for new students to meet people. You should look into that.
If there's a homeroom or study hall in your school, it would benefit you to meet all the people you can because most likely your homeroom won't ever change (at least at my school). Just ask people what classes they're taking, what sports they play, about the school, etc.
I've been in your situation twice. I know what it's like to be shy and not know anyone. Just trust that everything will go alright and you will meet people. Maybe not in one day, or even one week, but eventually you WILL find friends just like you. Believe it or not, I spent a year of middle school pretending to be friends with people who I had nothing in common with so that I wouldn't be alone. It wasn't until the year after that when I met my true friends.
I'm probably the shyest, most insecure person you could meet, and if I could make friends at a new school, anyone can. Even you. =)

Uhm I only know of one song, but it isn't really like that. It's by AFI and it's called "Miss Murder". I love the song, but there's a solo in it where there's just screaming for a minute which ruins the whole song.

What is the big deal with High Musical? I mean when it first came out(it's died out a lot)it was all the girls in my could talk about, it was on the radio all the time, they got singles, albums,and merchendise. I just don't see eye to eye with them...I hated it. I think the songs are repetitive and annoying, they acting is stupid, and above all, the lip sycning is HORRIBLE!!! Does anyone but me see this? I hated the movie, too. Everyone here was talking about it. I admit that 2 of the songs are on my iPod, but I also admit that I know the voices are fake [editted]. The lip singing was horrible. The main character spread his mouth too much and the blonde girl's voice sounded like a 10 year old's. So, I must agree with you.

Besides the obvious [pet-sitting, lawnmowing, yard work, washing cars, raking], there is nothing. No one will hire anyone who is 13 years old. Once you turn 16, more people will be willing to hire you/ask you for help.

Talk to him. Tell him that the sex was good, but that you aren't used to having conversations during sex. Give him pointers and guide him. Please, don't "fake" it. Sex should be enjoyed by both people. Let him know what you like and don't like/aren't used to.

alrighty so on monday me, my boyfriend, his sister and her husband are going to six flags. i havent been there since i was like 2. and looking at the website it looks like all there are is rollercoasters. ok so im scared of hights like no other. my bf said i didnt have to go on them but then i would look stupid just standing by myself for a few hours. and i would just not go but i have trust issues with my bf. what the helll should i dooo. i only have til tomorrow to figure out if i want to go or not.

I'm like you. I don't like roller coasters, for the most part, and I don't like going to theme parks with friends who do.
There are a lot of rides that aren't roller coasters. They are few and far between, though. There's some water rides, for example.
I suggest just riding some of them. Hear me out, though. I don't know about you, but I'm mainly scared of roller coasters because of huge drops [I'm afraid of heights, too]. But if there's a roller coaster with loops, I can't wait to ride it. Also roller coasters that are extremely fast [like Batman/Superman] or are in the dark are fun. So try one of those out and if you still don't like them, then just avoid all roller coasters and stick to water rides and stuff like rotating swings [funner than it sounds].

I recently bought some clothes from the Hollister at my mall. I am a 17 year old boy and think the clothes are nice.
When I got home and showed my 13 year old brother the clothes I got (a polo and a sweatshirt) he started screaming at me and said that only posers and gays were Hollister.
I know quite a few people don't like Hollister and quite a few people do.

Remember the feeling you got when you were scared of moving from elementary to middle school, only to find out that it isn't hard at all? The transition from middle to high school is exactly the same. There's not as much homework, but there's more studying and note-taking. But it's super fun. I'm sad because I'm already halfway done. I remember freshman year like it was yesterday, or even 5 minutes ago.
No one really gives you a hard time [students and teachers included]. So no worries.

There are 2 places I can come up with: IKEA and CraigsList.
IKEA is an actual store. You can buy stuff online, too. Their furniture and home decoration stuff is really inexpensive and good quality.
CraigsList is a website where people post what they want to sell, like lamps or a TV. It isn't like eBay because you don't bid on stuff, you just ask if the stuff is still available and when you can pick it up from their house. Once you go to the website, look on the right to select your city and/or state. Then type in what you want. Generally things are 40-80% cheaper than they are worth because they were slightly used. Anyways, just use CraigsList to find rugs, lamps, picture frames, whatever.

i dont know where this goes, but whatever. i have this pass to six flags that lets you go free. valid any reg. operating day through sept. 24,2006 bla. and then i have this other thing that i want to bring a friend with but it says that i must have a season pass... can i still use it? i need to know RIGHT NOW! we are going tomroow at like 7 in the morning. can i just use someone else's name. and say thats me? or what? it says "you must present this coupon with processed Season Pass for validation." I agree with what the other person said. But you don't seem to understand a few things.
One, you are going to Six Flags with your brother, and the last time the both of you went to Six Flags together, you invited a friend. And now you are planning on doing the same thing tomorrow? That seems selfish. You and your brother should be able to do things together without you having to be with a friend (like Vikki).
Two, you really don't know what you're getting yourself into with Paul. He doesn't say a word. I'm serious. You don't understand and you say "Well he talks to me." Uhm, no he doesn't. He says "yeah", "no", and "I don't know". Oh, and he always smiles. He is just weird! He tries so hard to be cool that he isn't cool. So drop Paul. It's weird that you're friends with my friend's brother, especially when the brother is Paul.
One more thing to keep in mind.
-If you end up having an arguement with your brother, don't start yelling. Causing a scene will only draw negative attention toward yourself. Also, don't run away from him in the middle of Six Flags. It won't prove anything except the fact that you're willing to put yourself [and your brother] in danger to try to prove a point. The purpose of your trip to Six Flags is not to hang out with friends. It is to have fun on the last Friday before school starts. Don't forget that.

Im going to school in aruba where one of the main languages is dutch. i have dutch relatives also, so i really need to learn the language. would you recommend buying a book&tape to learn dutch? there are no classes around here or at my current highschool so thats kind of what i have to do. do the tapes really work? thanks (link)

I also wanted to learn a language.
It all starts with the books. Buy a vocabulary book for Dutch, and a grammar book for Dutch (or just a book that teaches all there is to know about Dutch). Learn vocabulary first. For furniture, it helped me a LOT to write the Dutch word on a post-it note and post the note on furniture. I would master the following vocabulary before anything else:
-family (brother, sister, mom, dad, aunt...)
-food & drink (meat, bread, fruits, milk...)
-furniture (couch, chair, table, desk...)
-rooms (bathroom, kitchen, living room...)
-places (library, store, market, gas station...)
-colors
-numbers 1-20
-clothes (shirt, pants, shorts, socks...)
-subjects (I, you, he, she, we, they)
-expressions (Hi, Bye, Thank you, Help, Please...)
After you master all of that vocabulary (it is a lot, but if you just go through it daily, it should take no longer than two months to master), start learning the grammar. This includes learning common verbs and their conjugations, forming plural nouns, subject-verb-adjective agreement, and sentence structure. This is the understanding part. You can't just memorize this.
After all of that, you are ready to move! Will you be fluent? No. But you will be able to get around and ask for help if you need it. It will take about 6 months to fully understand Dutch in the country where it is spoken.
Don't treat the experience as a chore. I actually find it really fun to learn new languages. In the meantime, try to get some Dutch CD's and listen to their music. You will soon be able to pick up a word here and there in songs and understand them a little.
Dutch tapes don't work. They don't for Spanish, anyways.
Another thing to remember. Make sure that while you are learning Dutch vocabulary, you learn how to spell and pronounce the words. If you don't, you will have to go back and re-learn everything later.

Example:

A lot of people said that "i.e." means "for example". That is not true.
"e.g." means "for example".

hey i am on a diet and have been doing fine but im very big on dessert. i cut down my normal ice cream at night and insteas of all those calories have something lighter. but now im ready to cut down dessert altogether. any tips? its very difficult as i am used to having something sweet before bed. help if you can thank youu. I agree with what Aaron said, but I have something to add.
Eat celery. It may not taste good, but so what? It takes more calories to digest celery than celery has to begin with. So you lose calories when you eat celery. Same with asparagus. So adding lots of celery/asparagus to your diet will burn off additional calories. Imagine how many calories you'd burn if you replaced whole meals with celery and asparagus!
