advice
My sister has really strange eating habits, but it doesn't sound like an eating disorder that I have heard of. She eats less than 100 calories for breakfast. At school she eats grapes for lunch and throws away her sandwich. She tries not to let anyone see her do it, but I have seen her do it all week. At supper, she eats normally because my parents saw that she wasn't eating as much and she doesn't want them to know.
One day at lunch I saw her eating half of her sandwich. But when we got home, I heard her trying to make herself throw up in the bathroom. She didn't succeed, but maybe that's because she is afraid of throwing up.
Maybe I am making too much of things, but what does this sound like to you? Any help is appreciated. :)
This sounds like a problem. It also sounds like your parents may have noticed something, but aren't sure just how bad it is. Talk to them. They will worry, of course, but chances are they are already concerned and would be relieved to know the details so they can do something about it.
i dont know if i have a chemical imbalance in my brain.. its complicated but is there any way i can get a sample of a zoloft pill or something? to see if itll make me feel better? prob not.. bc youd have to take the pill for a long time to see results, right?
It takes around 2 weeks for most antidepressants to take effect. For some people, it could take longer. You should talk to your doctor to see if medication is right for you. If you are dealing with depression at all, see a doctor ASAP. Medication may be best, or therapy, or a combination. Depression is very serious, and very misunderstood. A lot of people will try to tell you things like "oh, you don't need medication. You just need to get out more, make some friends. You'll snap out of it in no time!" That is not how depression works. The best thing you can do is get professional help. Whatever your doctor says to do, follow the directions. If you get an antidepressant, your doctor can prescribe just a month worth to see how it works for you. But take the whole month, don't give up on it because it can take time. Also, if you are concerned about cost, many doctors can give some sort of samples or can refer you to a clinic that will work with you on cost.
Whatever you do, please see someone before depression gets really out of hand. I ended up in the hospital having my stomach pumped about 6 years ago because I didn't get help soon enough.
a friend of mine has an eating disorder. its not anorexia or bulimia or anything like that. she eats, but very little. and when she gets stressed out it makes her stomach hurt. and then she makes herself throw up. i have yelled at her about it and stuff because shes lost over 20 pounds since christmas and its totally unhealthy. she claimes she is just fine, but i know thats total bullshit. i really respect our friendship, and i dont want to ruin it by telling someone who could help her. i know it could help her and would really pay off, but i've been in her position. not with eating, but i was cutting and told my so-called friend, and she told her parents and her parents called me parents and it was a mess. and i hated her for it. but i dont want my friend to keep up this bad habbit! shes not ok! its out of control! and she wont listen to me! but if i tell someone, i might lose her! what do i do?
If you don't tell someone, you might lose her. Only, it could be a permanent loss. If you tell someone and she gets help, she will eventually forgive you. Yeah, she'll be pissed for a while, but in the long run, it is for the better. Would you rather her be angry and healthy, or your friend who is slowly killing herself?
i'm on my period as always, but the blood is intirely BLACK. is that bad???
Is it thick as well? Sometimes I get clots that seem black. It is just that the blood has dried somewhat and gotten a lot darker. It is completely normal for the blood to be dark, even almost black, if you have a slower blood flow.
However, if there is an unusual odor, or pain that you don't normally have, then it is time to see your doctor.
So i'll fill you in on what has happend..
I dont know if this has to do with my problem but about two weeks ago i had sex and the condom broke. so i got my period but it only lasted three days and wasnt heavy as usualy. well ive taken pregnancy tests and they've all come out negative so i dont think im pregnant.
but before my period and still now I have had SEVERE stomach pains. I have gone to the hospital twice and to the doctors once. the doctors did a cat scan and there was nothing wrong. They also did urine tests and still nothing wrong. when they feel around inside my stomach it doesnt hurt but when they push on it it does.. it also doesnt hurt me to pee so it cant be something with my urine. PLEASE HELP
WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH ME?
It sounds to me like you might have a bowel problem, like irritable bowel syndrome. I had the same experiences with doctors not knowing really what it was, going to quick care because of the pain, and so on. Eventually, I found a doctor who told me I had IBS. It was brought on by stress and diet. It is a condition that can come and go. So, what I think is that you were stressing too much and your body reacted by giving you bowel trouble. If you are not going to the bathroom regularly (might be constipated), get a stood softener or mild laxative. That should help. If it doesn't, talk to your doctor about medications for it. Mine put me on Zelnorm, and I was better within a couple weeks.
As for your period being different from normal, that can also be caused by stress. You still got it, so I don't think that is a problem. There are a lot of things you can do to ease stress. The trick is to find what works for you.
im 15/f and i dno how to make eyecontact with a guy since i dont have too much experiences actually :/
so there's this guy who seems to like me and i like him back but i dont wanna talk to him yet. i just wanna make eyecontact. but how do i do that without seeming desperate or weird or stupid? :P
lol cos i'm also not exactly sure if he likes me back. help please [:
This is going to sound kinda silly, but it works:
Just look at him. When he looks back at you, blink very slowly with a soft smile, then just tip your head down (like you're shy or something) and look away and look back up again for just a moment. That will get his attention. He'll know you are interested, but not desperate. You'll look a little shy, but flirty. It works very well :)
Hi guys im underweight and i need to gain a few pounds ,i have tried going to the gym and that doesn't work ,is there anything i can eat to gain weight and pls don't answer if you don't know
There are a lot of things to take into consideration when trying to gain weight. Going to the gym is actually a good start, since you want to be healthy doing this. Muscle weighs more than fat, so as you build muscle, you can gain weight, but you will likely lose some at first as your body loses water weight and fat.
A high fat and calorie diet will make you gain weight, as well as potential for heart disease and diabetes, so it is best to not just eat a lot of bad foods to gain weight.
To really know what to suggest, I'd need to know how old you are, how active you are, and what you typically eat in a day (including how often you eat).
Not knowing all that, here is what I recommend trying:
If you eat fairly healthfully, that is a good start. Eat more of it. Eat plenty of protein, as protein feeds muscles. If you eat high fat, it will build fat, and that is not what you want if you want to be healthy. If you go to a health food store, you can find protein shakes. I don't know which to recommend though, as I haven't gotten any in stores. I do like the protein shake available at Curves (a gym for women), so I know there are shakes that taste pretty good.
Keep exercising, but focus mainly on strength training and limit the aerobic exercise. This way, you will build muscle without getting in a fat burning zone (if you are lacking fat, that fat burning zone will eat the muscle instead).
Good luck, and stay healthy!
how else would my hymen break if i
DONT play sports
and ive NEVER worn a tampon.
Do you ride horses? That can do it. So can a jolting fall. The hymen is very thin and can actually break pretty easily.
Ok.
Well I Got My Period.
I Only Got It For A Day.
And It Hasnt Come Since.
Its Been At Least 2 Weeks.
This Hasnt Happened To Me Before.
I Mean I Didnt Get My Period For Four Months
But The Doctor Said It Was Normal.
Im Not Sexually Active Other Than The Fact That
I Finger My Self( Still Virgin).
So Is That Normal?
Btw I Sarted When I Was 11 And Im 14 Now.
Thanks For The Advice I Really Appreciate It!
It is normal to be very irregular at such a young age. However, it can be a sign of a problem. If this continues to happen, get your mom to take you to a gynecologist for another opinion. I am guessing you see a family practice doctor or even a pediatrician (many treat up to 21 years old), so while the doctor says it is normal, if you were regular for a couple years, then it is something you should watch. A gynecologist can give you a better opinion.
I don't say this to scare you. I say it from my own experience. I had similar problems throughout my teens. Turns out I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Had I gotten another opinion when I was younger, I would have avoided a lot of pain later on. It never hurts to see another doctor. You will either be certain there is no problem, or catch a problem early enough to make a difference. But in your case, give it another couple cycles before you worry enough to go to a doctor.
Ok
I am 14/f and I have started my period
I have had it for 3 years
IT comes every 28 days without fault!!
The only problem is, is that it only lasts about 2-3 dayss...
I think its supposed to be about 5-7 days..
And I like broken or something?
I mean I workout ALL the timee, and I drink a lot of water...
And its like not a heavy floww, so what is wrong, if anything....
Thankss
Being completely regular says to me that there is nothing wrong. You are just one of the lucky ones who gets light, quick periods. It is nothing to worry about. Just count your blessings :)
Hi ... this is probably stupid but I need to ask.
Can anyone just go into a drug store and buy the "over the counter" brands like cold/headache medicine? Or do you have to be a certain age.
Because if anyone can buy stuff just like that, wouldn't it be extremely easy for people to purchase stuff but then use it to get high?
Thanks if anyone answers. :)
Most cold and headache medicines can be acquired by anyone. However, most won't get you high. If you take too much, you will just get very sick and end up in the hospital getting your stomach pumped (not fun!). The ones used to get high can not be purchased without ID (particularly those with pseudoephedrine, as it is often used in making meth) and you have to go to the pharmacy counter to get them. There is usually a limit to how much you can get as well.
Well, I heard that soon after you have your period you are the least fertile. I was just wondering how true this statement is. If it isn't true, then when are you least fertile?
I got pregnant three days after my period.
You can get pregnant at any time in your cycle. Technically, you are most likely right in the middle of your cycle (14 days after the START of your period), but that is only if your body is 100% textbook normal. Most women are not. There is absolutely no guarantee of a time when you are least fertile. The only way to completely avoid getting pregnant (other than surgical sterilization) is to not have sex. Other than that, use protection. Get on some sort of birth control (pill, patch, shot, IUD, something along those lines) AND use condoms. With those precautions, you are pretty safe against pregnancy. Remember, also, that hormonal birth control (those I mentioned) do not protect against STDs. That is why you should always use condoms and know your partner well.
thank you for your help! he sends mixed messages, i'm not sure if it's me or if he really is interested.but he did get jealous and snappish when i mentioned to my friend i saw a picture of this swimmer(who she really likes) in a magazine. and another time i saw him in a study room and said hi, he said he had to go to class(he was late).that same night he emails apologizing for running out on me,which i don't think he did, he had class! i saw him again on friday asked if he could help me w/math b/c he's super good at it,i kept hinting i want him specifically to help, but he said there's this other guy who's better and can help me out more.there's a lot more but it'd be long and i don't want to bother you, but i don't know, maybe he just doesn't get the hints,he is a guy, and yes i agree, they sure are wierd.how do you think i should tell him, is there a different way than saying "i like you" or is that how you told them? thank you again!
He is having the same confusion. He doesn't know how to tell you. At least, that is how it sounds. So, I'd just go with the quick and blunt "hey, I like you. I know we are friends, and don't want to hurt that, but there it is." and see what he says. From the way he is acting, it will all end well.
hey,
thank you so much for your advice, that takes a lot of guts to tell your friend how you feel, but i now feel that the chances of a worst case scenario from happening isn't that bad, but i'm afraid of the awkward situation. was it awkward when you brought it up? b/c i've been hinting at him i feel the same way, he just doesn't get it, or he thinks it's an act of kindness from a friend, so now i know i have to initiate it. and i'm wondering if you were nervous or anything, because i sure am! were they nervous/uneasy when you told them?
Yeah, I was nervous. Heck, I was terrified that I could lose a friend. Has he shown an interest in you at all? That can ease the nerves because you know it will be ok.
Here is the worst thing that will happen:
You tell him how you feel. He doesn't feel the same. It is awkward for a little while, but you are close enough that I know you will get past it and remain good friends. Also, just knowing will make him look at you a bit differently. This is good. Guys are weird. Plant an idea in their heads and it sticks. He will start to fall for you, even if he wasn't before. Trust me. When I told Josh I liked him, he liked my best friend. It wasn't long before he was telling me he loved me. I still talk to him, and he still cares for me.
I've heard a lot about taking online surveys, and making money. Is this a scam? Has anyone tried this?
Mysurvey.com is a good site for getting paid for surveys. It is hardly anything. You get points that you can exchange for prizes or money.
Another good one for prizes is Harrispoll - http://www.harrispollonline.com/
I've gotten some pretty good stuff from them.
I don't know of any others, but those two are not scams.
well, i have this friend. BOB. and bob used to date my best friend. and his best friend used to be my boyfriend. then it all just crumbled when bob and my friend broke up. and they kept getting back together and stuff. and then they just realized that things would never work out again. and his best friend and i were still going out at this time. we'll call him...Bill. well, eventually bill and i broke up. and then bob and my friend...Gal...got back together and started their old rutine of breaking up and getting back together. then they broke up for the 8th and last time. then gal wanted to end our friendship for good. so we're not friends anymore. well, bob, bill, and i are all friends now. like, really good friends. i'd probably hang with them everyday if i didnt live 25 minutes away!! but yeah. i have developed feelings for bob and bill. the past two times i went to bob's house was to see bill. but then bob asked me if i liked him more than a friend. and i said no....but now im rethinking it. and i told him that i *used* to like him...that i dont now because i dont like smokers. and hes a fricken chimney. well, he apparently quit because thats what bill is saying. and im wondering if he quit because of me...? anyways, i still like bill, but i also really like bob. and when we're all together, like all three of us, i like bob a lot more because hes not flirting (i hate being flirted with) and driving me up the wall trying to caress me and stuff. but when im on the phone 1 on 1 with 1 of them, its different. i like bill a lot more on the phone. when bob and i are on the phone, we're just really close friends. valentines day is coming up. and the saurday after v-day, bob, me, my friend cory, and my other friend vicki, are all supposed to go to the movies. i'd invite bill, but vicki doesnt like him because he broke up with me. ^-^ anyways, should i tell him that i still like him on saurday or wait until he asks me out?
Just tell him. In my experience, it has never hurt to tell a guy you like him. But be sure he is the one you want. It sounds like maybe you aren't so certain.
hey, i just want to know if there's anyone who's asked their good guy friend out,or if you've had feelings for them and just straight out told them. i dunno anyone who's done that and what the best/worst is that can happen,as in how often the friendship still remains after that is said. so if you can tell me what happened after you told your best guy friend please let me know! thank you!
I've done it a few times. My best relationships started out as friendships. For the most part, I am still friends with the guys, and I've been married nearly 9 years now (oh, my husband was a dear friend in high school, then we dated, then we were apart for a while, then back together). So, I have yet to see it hurt anything. I guess it could, but if you are honest and not obsessive, I don't think it would.
Okay i caught headlice off some of my younger cousins who were jumping all over me and lying on me the other day and my dads girlfriend treated my hair this morning. (Btw, we've washed all the bed covers, pillow cases couches etc).
I've had headlice once before so i wasnt worried or anything.
Anyways i did everything the pack said, i washed my hair ONLY using shampoo no conditioner, towel dried it but left it damp, my dads girlfriend massaged it into my scalp and into my hair and then left it for 10 minutes, then i washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner and combed the lice out with the brush that came with the treatment.
i did a little brushing but then i had to leave because i had been on holidays and my dad was driving home.
I got home about an hour ago and was brushing through my hair and got afew headlice out but they werent dead, they were sort of like, alive but struggling? Like, they werent really moving, if i blew on them their little legs went for a bit then stopped.
I wanted to know if the lice are supposed to die right away or like..when?
And also, what makes your scalp itch? Is it the bites or them crawling around on your head?
Thankyou!
P.S and PLEASE only people who KNOW what they are talking about, not something someone googled 2 seconds ago searching for "head lice".
I've been in the midst of head lice outbreaks a couple times. It was years ago, but I do remember it (the first time likely saved me from severe breathing trouble 'cause I got rid of a pillow that it turns out I was allergic to). They are tough to get rid of. It sounds to me like some eggs, or nits, were left after treatment. It is near impossible to get rid of them all. The best thing to do is treat them again just a few days after the first treatment. Then, if you are still concerned, one more time won't hurt.
If you want a less chemical treatment, you can cover your head in olive oil or mayonaisse and wrap it with plastic wrap. Then wait about a half an hour to an hour. Lice can swim and escape water based stuff, but the oil traps and suffocates them. Or so I've read many times. I have not tried it though. If you do decide to try it, let me know what happens. Like other treatments, it will take repeating to get what hatches from missed nits. Oh, and the oil treatment, even if it doesn't get rid of the lice, is supposed to be very good for your hair and scalp. If you use Mayo, it is supposed to be better 'cause of the eggs in it. Just wash it out with shampoo or dishsoap (which cuts grease better) gently.
As for what makes your scalp itch, it is the bites. You will probably itch for a few days after getting rid of them. The crawling around, though, does feel weird and almost itchy.
ok i just got my report card and i got a B and usually i get all A's.
except i know why
i just had a world history test and you could have answered like 49 questions and i would have 10 extra points and i didnt do it cuz i was lazy
i got a 70 on the test and i also got all B's on my 4 benchmarks andi havent told my parents yet
but wen i showed my parents my report card i started crying becuz they got mad at me anbd i wanna tell them y but i dont want to
WOULD DO I DO??????????
They got mad for a B????
I'm sorry. I am a mom and I would never be mad about a B. You don't need to explain yourself. Just work to do better for the next report card and ask your parents, as calmly as possible, why a B, which is normally a good grade, gets them mad. Discussing it with them will help them see that it isn't such a big deal and will help you see where they are coming from. Then you can work together to make a plan to bring up the grade in the future. They will, hopefully, see that you are being responsible and that will be a good thing.
I started doing track in the end of November. Since then I have lost some weight and I feel less hungry.
However, recently I've begun not feeling so well, and I figure its because I'm not getting enough food.
On a week day my food goes as follows:
[sometimes I don't eat breakfast, just cause I'm not hungry] but most of the time I have a baggie of Corn Chex or Frosted Mini Wheats.
For Lunch I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and something little like a 90 calorie granola bar or 100 calorie pack or something.
and for dinner I have whatever meat my mom cooks, and usually rice.
And whenever I drink something, it's usually water.
I don't eat like that purposely, its just what's easiest for me.
What's a good way to incorporate more nutrients and stuff so I don't feel so crappy?
You can start with a good multivitamin. Then, add a couple of snacks to your day. Carrot sticks, cheese cubes, whole grain crackers, fruit, things like that are very good choices. Have more variety. The same thing for breakfast and lunch every day will not be good for you. You could do with a bigger lunch. And always eat breakfast. That will get your metabolism off to a good start and help you get the nutrients you need. Vary that too. Have eggs sometimes, or a bagel and cream cheese. Choose whole grains. They have more nutritional value. The first word on the ingredient list should be "whole." It looks like you are lacking in fruits and vegetables. And saying "whenever I drink something" makes me wonder if it is often enough. Drink at least 64 oz/day or, even better, 1 liter for every 50 lbs you weigh. I carry a 1.5 liter bottle with me all the time so I am sure to drink enough.
Here are some ways to make it easy:
Pack a snack/lunch bag in the evening so that you don't have to worry in the morning. Put together a nice sandwich with your favorite lunch meat, some lettuce, and some cheese. Add a baggie of baby carrots and some whole grain crackers and you will have what you need for the day.
You can also put out whatever you can for breakfast that doesn't need refrigerated. If you will want cereal, fill a bowl so it is ready in the morning and you just have to add milk. It is easy to prepare most of an omelet or scrambled eggs the night before too. Shred some cheese and cut up some ham or other meat or veggies and put them in a dish in the fridge. Have a pan ready. In the morning, you just crack a couple eggs, mix them up, pour them in the pan and add the prepared ingredients. It is almost as easy as a baggie of cereal, and more nutritious.
If your dinner is typically meat and rice, add a vegetable. Then have some fruit as a snack a little later.
