I'd love to answer anybody's questions, but I'll usually avoid the ones about friends or relationships because those tend to bore me. :) I am knowledgable in a variety of topics, specifically fashion, etiquette, and questions about spirituality
/religion. Proper grammar and spelling is * sOoOo freekin hAwTt*.
But anyhow, I will try to answer every question as best as I can. I can't promise, however, to sugar-coat things or tell you what you want to hear, or rid my answers of any sarcasm, but I'll try. :)
I am a strong Christian that likes to study other religions, so I can better see eye-to-eye with people who have different opinions than my own. I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be, so please, never take any of my answers too personally. :)
In my spare time, I love playing the piano, listening to folk/indie music, doing volunteer work, writing, studying Spanish, learning about fashion and make-up, and acting competitively.

Hey does anyone know a site where I can find the value of certain coins? I have a Liberty Nickel with the year of 1896 and a Jefferson Nickel with no year but has a buffalo on it. (link)
|
You can always look on Ebay.com and see what other similar coins are selling for. A lot of times sites will tell you what they think an item should sell for, but in reality the average person probably won't drop $100 on a coin, unless they're some like hardcore collector or something. So I'd start there, it will give you a more realistic idea.

How should I politely say bye and hang up on the phone or MSN Messenger or anywhere when people take up my time chatting. (link)
|
Well, there's always the classic "I'm on limited minutes, so I need to let you go!"
Always tell the person you've enjoyed talking to them, or something to that effect, so they don't feel bad about taking up your time. Or, if one of my friend carries on the conversation too long, I'll try to say something funny like "What are we supposed to talk about at lunch if you keep going on and on like this?" Of course, only use that tactic for your good friends. :) You can say something like "I hate to end the conversation, but ... " or "Will I see you at practice tomorrow? Let's talk again then." Or offer to meet up somewhere, like Starbucks or something, later on, if it's something important that they really need to talk about. That way, it's on your time. :) Good luck!

ive been taking a shower once a day washing my face 2wice a day and all that happens is i brake out more and im getting sick of it and i baught face wash and im starting to use proactive but ive been washing my face for a year and its still not working what should i do (link)
|
You're probably washing your face too much, if that even sounds possible! The chemicals in the soaps can actually dry out your skin if used too much, which causes your skin to produce more oil than it normally should to hydrate itself. This ends up clogging your pores, and you break out! So lay off on the face washes for a while, and just use them once a day. Look for a mild, oil-free face wash too. If you need to wash your face again during the day, just use cool water, or if it's getting oily, use oil-blotting sheets. (about $4).

What is your opinion on black hair?do you think it ia boring and ugly? (link)
|
I think black hair can be very pretty and classic, if it's with the right cut. I'm not a huge fan of the black emo spikey hair, but that's just me.
The only thing about black hair ... if you have blonde roots, you better be ready to dye those suckers every other week, maybe more. Also, oil shows up much better in black hair, for whatever reason, so if you're fond of only washing your hair twice a week, black hair may not be for you. :)
I'm not really sure what JB8954 meant by saying your popularity affects whether or not you should have black hair ... last time I checked social status didn't relate to your hair color in any way ?

I've noticed that none of my makeup has expiration dates, but I've read in magazines and other places that you're supposed to throw out mascara after about 3 months, foundation after about a year, etc. because the makeup does go bad. Well, the thing is, I got this really nice makeup kit for Christmas about 3 years ago and it contains about 50 different shades of eyeshadow. Now this makeup costed a lot of money, I still use it quite often, and I haven' even began to use it all. So, since I heard that you were supposed to throw out eyeshadow after awhile, I was wondering if I could still use this eyeshadow even though it's pretty old? Would it be harmful if I did? I use it a lot and I seem to be fine. But, will it eventually cause eye infections or something? (link)
|
Eye make-up (ESPECIALLY mascara) is one of those things you have to be careful how old it is, because your eye is the most sensitive part of your face. If the eyeshadow is cracking, discolored, or doing that weird caking thing that eyeshadow and powder do, I would throw it out. You don't want to risk getting an allergic reaction or some nasty infection on your eye.
And I don't know if this does anything or not, but if I find an old eyeshadow that I really like and can't bring myself to throw out, I'll use paper towels or sponge applicators and just rub off the top layer. Not really sure if that's good or bad or even does anything, but you can try it if you want haha. :)

I have a pair of skinny jeans that are just blue jean. I have a couple shirts I got over the weekend and i need to know which shirt looks the best with these jeans.
Shirts I have :
-Pink shirt with cupcakes cookies and lolipops on it.
-Navy blue shirt with new oreleans saints symbols on it and a humming bird or each of the top corners.
-An Alicine wonderland shirt where she is walking through the forest
-A pink and white striped shirt that has half sleeves.
Thanks for the help :] (link)
|
I think all of these would be cute with skinny jeans! (That last one sounds really cute, by the way haha.) The good thing about them is that they're super easy to dress up or down, so you pretty much can't wear the wrong thing with them. That's why all but 1 of my jeans are skinny. :)

how much is it to go to a tanning bed. not the best one or the worst one, an average place.
and i heard they are very unsafe. if i do it 3 or 4 times will i die? (link)
|
Usually they are $8 to $10 dollars per visit, if you go to a clean one. :) Tanning beds really aren't that good for you, but most of the people that have complications from it are the old ladies you see working at the mall that are constantly orange. But that doesn't mean that they're still safe. I would recommend getting a spray tan if you just want it for an event or one night or something, they're a lot better for you. Or you can be like me, and swear to yourself that you will only go to a tanning bed for prom and your wedding. :)
"You wont die..the worst that can probaley happen is skin cancer."
^ I had to laugh at this. Skin cancer is very serious, especially if it goes undetected for a while, and is the most common type of cancer in the US. It kills around 10,000 people a year. Your choice. ;)
|
hey, i went spray tanning twice before. the place told me its suppose to last up till two weeks. on me its only lasts about 4 days. how long is it suppose to last for? also with tanning beds, is it very hot in the beds? im afraid to use them because im afraid i will get stuck in them and also that they will be too hot. (link)
|
Those spray tanners are craaaap. I got mine done a couple times and they always say they'll last for a few days, unless you get in the pool and then they're gone in an hour. I've found it's better to buy some self-tanner for half the price and just put it where you need it. :) You can reapply it when you want to, and it's easier to control the color you want. (They make some really good ones now that don't make you look orange at all.)
The tanning beds aren't that hot at all, it's no different than laying out in the sun. But they do look kind of scary, especially if you're clusterphobic haha. Most of them have timers too, so you won't get stuck. :)

hey, well right now i dress sorta like everyone else in the world. hollister, ecko, abercrombie, you know those famous brands. i would like to start dressing differently. like leggings, ballet flats, chunky necklaces, and other trendy items. im afraid of the reaction my friends will have. i know i should just be myself and not care what others think. its hard tho. (link)
|
I'm all for a big change, but I can understand being nervous about your friends' reactions. I would suggest easing into a big makeover. Start by buying a few accessories, like some jewelry or hats/scarves, some inexpensive stuff. The good thing about that is that if you change your mind & decide this new look isn't for you, then you haven't dropped a whole bunch of $$ on a whole new wardrobe already. :) Then, start wearing your hair and makeup differently, then maybe buy a cute pair of flats, then some clothes... you get the idea. But instead of leaping into one big trend all at the same time (i.e. leggings and flats), try mixing what you already have and some new items. Maybe you'll start a new trend? Plus, it's easy on you and your friends, so it's not like you're a completely different person. Good luck! :)

this is really long but interesting!! okay, i'm in 9th grade and he's in 11th. i know that there isnt a chance of us getting together..not much anyways but i can still really like him =P but anyways the things he does confuses me. like he puts his arms around me-in a nice way, hugs me when i don't expect it, has a nickname for me,says i'm pretty and cute sometimes, and stayed after with me twice even though he was going to get in trouble. once was when i was really sad (long story) and at lunch he noticed and even my bff didn't notice at all. so he waited for me way after lunch just to walk with me to class and made sure that i was okay with his arms around me. the other time was when he would've gotten in a lot of trouble. he's a drum major and our school's band takes everything so seriously. i'm in strings btw. but anyways, we had a little school concert for the middle schoolers and after that, he was suppose to go to the band room right away but he walked with me to strings class anyway..well almost there becuase the other drum major appeared in the hallway and in a really strict tone told him to get in the band room right then and there. all those things he did as i've mentioned above gave me a sense that he likes me butt...when the drum major appeared, he took his arm off of me immediately as if he was embarrassed to have his arm around a 9th grader? or maybe it was because he didn't want the drum major to think he ditched band for a girl. idon't know. and right before winter break, i asked for his number (in a friendly way. not a 'omg i luv you!' way) and he wrote i don't know. but they may have been because there was the jazz band playing 2ft away from where we were at lunch.
anywhos, does anyone have a pretty good guess about as to why he wrote "i don't know" and took his arm off of me right away? do you think he likes me? (link)
|
Hmm.. my gut tells me that this guy either 1) just sees you as a "little sister" or 2) is a loser who can't get girls his own age so he flirts with girls 2 years younger than him to make himself feel better. I think both of these scenarios could fit in your story. If he only saw you as a little sister type friend, that would explain him not wanting to give you his phone number. Maybe he felt bad about leading you on and didn't want to lead you on any further by giving you his phone number? Orrrr .... on the other hand.... maybe he's embarrassed that he can't get a girl his age, and he would never be caught dead with a 9th grader in front of his friends, so he doesn't want you to have his phone number because he'd be embarrassed if somehow his friends found out. Either way you slice it, I don't think this guy is boyfriend material. He may like you, but if he does, I don't think you deserve a guy who' acts embarrassed to be seen with you by his friends.

I'm 15/f. I would really love to buy an old Chevrolet 3100 (from the early fifties) and restore it. I'm talking about buying an average condition truck (probably around $10,000, from my research) and replacing the engine, paint, and redoing the interior (seats and such). I'd also like to chrome the grill and all that good stuff. Initially, money isn't a problem for me, and this is going to be a long-term project. My problem is that I want all the decisions to be made by me, but I don't know the first thing about restoring a car! I've been looking in the classifieds, eBay motors, and various websites to get an idea of what I want, but once I do buy a truck, what happens next? I'm willing to put a lot of money into this because I want it done right. My dream truck is a cream-colored 3100 with a chrome grill, new engine, and revamped interior (not like on Pimp My Ride or anything, just new seats, new dash, etc.) If you know anything about restoring cars from this era (late 40's-early 50's) please help me out! My father is a diesel mechanic, but I want to "surprise" him with my interest in cars. Thanks :) (link)
|
I don't have too much experience with car restoration, but me and my dad are in the middle of restoring a Dodge Charger, and FYI... a lot more work than you think at first.
Depending on the condition it's in, you're probably going to have to take apart the engine, sand the rust off, clean out old oil, etc. This is by far the most difficult part because there's so many little pieces that you have to keep track of and remember where to put back. :) If there is no engine, you're probably going to be looking at around $1500 to $3000, depending on size, power, etc. If I were you, since this will be your first restoration, find a car with a decent engine. It's alright if you have to replace a few of the parts, but I would not recommend tearing apart a whole engine on your first go around. Pain in the butt. Find one that it's in good condition or needing few repairs.
Then, you have to get the seats reupholstered, which depends on the kind of stitching you want and the fabric. If you can, I try to keep the interior as original as you possibly can (by original, I mean same style / look, you don't have to keep the original fabric haha). This will make the car a lot more valuable for resale down the road. Then you have to get the interiors recarpeted if they need it, fix radio, gauges, transmission, mechanical stuff, blah blah blah. Then it's time to get the body repainted. If it's super rusty, take apart the body first, sand them down, then have it painted.
But my advice? Start small. Find something that needs minor or only aesthetic (paint, interiors, etc.) repairs, and has an engine in good condition. It's a big job, even for people who know a lot about cars. Or, you can get something that's a little bit more work, and surprise your dad by restoring it together! That might be fun for both of you, and he'll appreciate you wanting his expertise. :) Good luck!

how can i get toned fast and drop weight at the same timee. i want to be a 3 or 5 im in between a 9 and 7 now. pleassse help!!1 (link)
|
That's a pretty big goal, but you can get there! However, doing it the healthy way will take a little bit longer than if you skip eating all together, so hang in there! It will be so much better for your health in the long run and so much more rewarding knowing that you worked to be a size 5 the hard way, instead of living off celery and water for 2 weeks.
To lose weight, the experts suggest eating four to five small meals a day, at about 3 hour intervals. Make sure you're eating equal amounts of fruits/vegetables for vitamins, carbs for short-term energy, and protein for your muscles and long-term energy. Drinking water and skim milk will save you calories and not give you cravings like diet soda will.
Also, make sure you do at least 4 hours of cardio a week. (I.E. running, swimming, walking, biking, etc.) This is good for your heart and will help you lose fat all over your body. Just make sure to stay hydrated!
To get toned, you'll need to lift weights. Do 12 repetitions of one weight lifting exercise 3 times. To read up on the basics, check out http://www.4girls.gov/.
Good luck!

Ok i have naturally straight hair. So my way to scrunch it is after i take a shower i towel dry, brush it out, put mouse and gel all over my hair and put it up into 2 tight buns and sleep with them. The next morning i take it out, blow dry a bit and add more mouse and gel and hairspray.
PROBLEM: it only stays curly for like 1 or 2 hours and then it starts getting straight or slighty wavy and it loses that "wet look" .. i want my hair to last for a WHOLE DAY at school. Any advice? Thanks!! (link)
|
Instead of scrunching your hair, try playing around with curling irons and hot rollers of different sizes and textures that work for your hair to get curly hair that looks a little more natural. If you have naturally straight hair, it's not going to hold its curl for very long unless you use some serious heat and hairspray, or if you get it permed. Plus, piling all that gel, mousse, and scrunching product on your hair everyday can seriously dry out your scalp and your hair, and lead to dandruff. Ick.

(my chest)
im super flat, its not even funny. how do you get bigger boobs, without getting plastic surgery and such. is there anything natural you can do?
and please don't say i should just accept myself, and live with it. (link)
|
There's no "natural" way to fix something that is already natural to begin with! Try wearing solid colored tops instead of ones with busy patterns, and details such as ballet style tops or wrap tops that can create an illusion of a bigger chest.

im in 8th grade.
everybody has a fav. teacher in every grade. but the teacher i think is my fav. i thik i might be a lill obsessed over. i see her as a friend but still as a teacher i tell her almost everything, and sometimes she interested and nice to me and some other days she wont listen to me and tell me im annoying. and once she told me that if she looked at me for too long she would throw up. and im not ugly and she said it in front of the whole class.
i totally see her more as a friend or like an aunt or sumthing.
since she told me i was annoying and insulted should i just leave her alone and treat her like anyother teacher?? it will be like losing a friend thow. (link)
|
This doesn't sound like a healthy relationship to me. While it's important to trust your teachers and be able to communicate openly with them, they're there to insruct and educate you, not be your best friend. If your teacher feels "friendly" enough with you to call you annoying and ugly in front of the whole class, there's a problem. My advice is to let this "friendship" go, as hard as it may be at first. If she continues to talk badly about about you, talk to your parents or principle about the problem. In the end, this will make it much easier for you to learn in her class and make it easier for her to be a professional and teach. Good luck!

Ok..I'm a redhead 15/F and i really like this guy. Well he seemed to be diggen me or whatever soo one night i texted to see if he wanted to do something tom. He texted me back and said he is not attracted to redheads and that if i like him more than that than its not gonna work because he doesnt like me. I was heart broken. I mean red hair is kind of rare and i mean im not ugly at all..and i dont have the pale skin like one either. I look a little different but still i have red hair. My question is..in your opinion is red hair ugly and why dont guys like red hair? (link)
|
There's nothing wrong with redheads! This guy obviously hasn't seen Lindsey Lohan, Marcia Cross, or Nicole Kidman. My advice is forget this guy! If he's too shallow to look past your hair color, then he doesn't deserve you.
|
where can i find straight legs or skinny jeans or whatever they're called?
the only places i know to find them are pac-sun and gap, and they're hella expenseive.
does anybody know of any place cheaper??? (link)
|
I have two pairs of skinny jeans, one from the Hollister Outlet that I bought for $30, and one pair from Old Navy. I would suggest checking out oldnavy.com first, they have a few different styles for under $30 to choose from, and some skinny cords that are really cute too.

I became a Christian two years ago, but I was baptized Catholic as an infant. I really get into the Christian faith more than the Catholic faith.
However I also heard that Catholic is very similar to Christian, except that Christian is more of a general faith than Catholic? I really don't know.. I mean I would hate to leave the Catholic faith. I am asking what is the difference between being Catholic and Christian? Would it matter if I was baptized Catholic and being more Christian? What am I supposed to do??
Thanks (link)
|
Well, this is my opinion, and some people may or may not agree with me. I'm not Catholic, I attend an Episcopalian, kind of a "cross" between Catholic and Protestant". But I attend youth group at a non-denominational "contemporary" church, so I've been exposed to both ends of the spectrum. But anyhow, here's what I think. :)
Romans 12:5 says "so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." I am a strong believer that all the denominations (branches of Christianity, including Catholicism -- not its own religion!)need to unify for their common purpose of glorifying God and preaching his word, rather than get all hung up on how we do it. Catholics are steeped in tradition, clinging to historical practices of the Church. Baptists, and other Protestants, however, sometimes choose to turn from the traditional style of worship and be a little more on the contemporary side. I figure it's a matter of preferance, and you should choose a church and style of worship that you're most comfortable with, as long as God always remains in the center.
Now, there's the issue of who believes what. Catholics, as well as Protestants, have the roots of their faith in the Bible, as all Christians should. The Bible clearly says in Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." What I don't understand is why that's so unclear to people in the Church. People of all denominations get hung up on "I'm right, you're wrong" that they lose focus of the ONLY perfect one -- God. While Catholics may place more value on good works, or study the saints, and while Protestants may focus more on tithing and one-on-one time with God (those are just examples, by the way, I have no idea if those are accurate or not), as long as you truely accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, there's no room for confusion.
Sooo, in a nutshell, I'd say focus less on "What denomination am I?" or "Does it matter what I was baptized as?" because in God's eyes, none of those things matter, as long as you love Him! Just focus on being the Body of Christ, like they talk about in Romans 12. God doesn't love Protestants more than Catholics, or vice versa. If you decide you'd like to look at other types of Churches besides the Catholic church you attend, I'd suggest a non-denominational one, because then there's no bias. :)
Sorry if that wasn't the black and white answer you were looking for ... please let me know if I can clarify anything!

I posted another question a few days ago about my Dad. But, for I think four or five years, I've been praying that my Dad would stop yelling. My mom has been praying since the day I was born that he would stop. He cusses, screams, you name it at me and my family. I can't take it. I'm crying typing this. I thought God answered all prayers. Why can't he answer this one? (link)
|
Wow! Hearing your dad yell and curse at your family has got to be difficult for you, and I applaud you for turning to God for His help!
First of all, God WILL answer your prayers, but it will be on His time. This can be difficult, since we tend to want things on our time, but in the end, we may realize that God's timing was that way for a reason! So don't give up! 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says "Pray without ceasing." God will answer your prayers at the best time for you.
Also, keep your heart open for His answer! God can reveal things to us in so many different ways, and it may or may not be a clear as daylight answer, or result in your dad's immediate change. Have daily quiet time with God, read through the Scriptures, and talk with a Christian friend or church leader, so you can allow God to speak to you in as many ways possible.
But most importantly, trust God! He won't let you down, he loves you too much. Even though this trial in your life may seem like too much for you and your family to deal with right now, God will never give you more than you can handle. You may find down the road that this strengthened your faith in ways you never could have guessed! So keep an open mind, and trust God. If you need some inspiration, read 1 Chronicles, chapter 5.
