advice

I'm a senior in high school and I'm having trouble figuring out my schedule.

I've always been an overachiever, and filled my schedule, to the point of not having lunch. But now that I'm a senior, I want to relax and dedicate my time to a few hard classes. My schedule currently has:

Photo, Italian, English, AP Eco, Acting/Script Writing, Chorale, AP French and AP Calc BC

Which ones should I drop?

well, of course it is your decision ultimately, but if i were in your position, i would definitely keep your AP classes. also, since you already have a foreign language (french), you could think about dropping italian because that would probably be difficult, doing two languages. which do you love more: photo, acting/script writing, or chorale? if there's one of those that you might do as a career, definitely keep it! but the ones that you could care less about, you might want to drop. but here's a warning: colleges discourage the "easy" senior year... yours doesn't seem easy by any means with those AP classes, but don't drop too many classes.

all right, so I was looking into the university of massachusetts amherst the other day, and I couldn't find much about the financial payments, and things like that. I was specifically looking for whether or not a meal plan is included, housing, and all of that stuff, if its included with the tuiton. could someone please tell me? it'd be greatly appreciated.

go to collegeboard.com, they have tons of information on different colleges. also, generally meal plans and housing are not included with tuition because some students don't need the meal plan/housing.

What exactly is the significance of owning something from Tiffany&Co.?

most people only have money to spend on stuff like food, but if you own something from tiffany's, it means that you have money to spend on other things. tiffany's is a very expensive, high quality jewelry store. we're talking about multiple thousands of dollars spent on one piece of jewelry. it's very high class. it's not overpriced either, as the columnist below me said... diamonds, especially good, clear cut diamonds, are extremely rare. a diamond is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it based on its color and clarity, and obviously people are willing to buy tiffany's diamonds because they are still in business.

ok so i play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, and i sing, so now im bored and wanna learn drums (this way i can record my own shit doing everything by myself) sooo i wanna know some good not "beginner" sets but nothing over 700 bucks. so yeah if anybody has some recommendations that would be mad appreciated.

peace.

look in the classifieds in your newspaper and see if any used drums are for sale (they might even throw in the cymbals too). go to a music store where you live and talk to them about it, or go to guitarcenter.com or musiciansfriend.com to get an idea of what you want. if you buy drums from a store, most likely cymbals are not included so keep that in mind. also, cymbals are more expensive than you would think! zildjian is probably the best cymbal but sabian is good to start with too. i have a pearl drumset. i doubt anything on guitarcenter.com is going to be under 700 bucks, which is why it would be really good to find somebody willing to sell near where you live. pearl is a really good brand, and if you can snag a set for your price, that would be awesome. but there are other, cheaper brands too. i just started playing drums for kicks (i play other instruments, like you do) and i can tell you that it's really easy to learn if you know how to play other instruments. it only took me a few hours to learn how to keep a beat. of course, lessons are probably good too, but it is definitely possible to teach yourself. if you read music, it's really helpful to look up drum tabs online (like you would guitar tabs) and that way you can learn how to play different songs and styles and stuff. good luck.

The notes are D#, A, B, and F. On the guitar the fingerings are

e-----2-----------
B-----0-----------
G-----2-----------
D-----1-----------
A-----x-----------
E-----x-----------

Plz helpppp!

wow, that's definitely not a chord you see every day

here's what i'm coming up with:
Bm5 7 (not sure how to write that, but it's Bm5 and B7 like put together?)
i just played that on my guitar, and it sounds like a 7 chord more than anything else, like you would hear in a jazz or blues song. i played that chord and it fell nicely into a 12 bar blues pattern in E. hmm, i'll have to use that chord again! haha :)

why does it keep raining? has anyone noticed that it rains like every other day? does this have to do with global warming?

no, but lately weather patterns have been totally weird. have you ever heard of el nino? i'm not sure if that's the cause of it, but look that up on wikipedia.org and it will give you more information about weather patterns and stuff. global warming is definitely happening, but it's not anything that progressive at this point.

I was just wondering, I just got my haircut and highlighted and I straighten my hair after I blow dry it. I noticed that my ends get split when I do that. Is straightening bad for my hair??

yes, if you apply heat directly to your hair it's kind of like softcore frying it. it's okay if you don't straighten it every day though.

I was wondering about CCM in Cincinatti. I've been to their homepage, but I would like to know how it's viewed in the musical world. See, I"m thinking about going there to get a music major, and it sounds good, but I need some advice from a few more sources. How is the music program? Is it a reputable school? What's the campus like? How close are the students? Do you have to live in a dorm your first year? Any help at all would be appreciated.

my old band director actually is at that school right now getting her master's degree. it's an incredibly prestigious school, and it's a great honor to get accepted into it. it has an awesome music program. my band director is actually doing this program where she teaches music part time there as well as part of her degree. as for the other questions you have, i'm not sure i can answer them. i can imagine that the campus would be really nice because it is such a nice school. i would also imagine that the students are close because everybody shares a common bond- music. i'm not sure if you've been to this website yet, but you could also check collegeboard.com and search for the cincinatti conservatory to get more info.

If you bought a CD on iTunes, could you burn them onto a CD? Or is that illegal. Plus how come say a cd has like 12 songs on it, you'd have to pay 99 cents for each song, but if you just bought the CD on itunes, its like 9.99?

1.) yes, that's totally legal. it's okay if you buy them on itunes for yourself, and then you burn a cd to like listen to in your car, or in your stereo or something. it's supposed to be illegal to buy them for yourself and then burn cd's and give them to all your friends, but everybody does that.
2.) that's to get people to buy the whole cd at a discounted price. trust me, it's a better deal. the songs themselves are worth .99, so if you bought every single song on the cd, it would be close to 12 bucks. this way, you save two dollars. it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in profit for itunes or the artist. but more people are likely to buy the whole album, and itunes is more likely to get more business, if the whole album is discounted. it's better than buying it at best buy for 14 bucks!

is a 14 yr. old to younng 2 date a 16

i'm 16. it depends on the people, honestly. so that's your decision to make. if i were 14, i wouldn't date a 16 year old. and i'm 16 now, and i wouldn't date a 14 year old if you paid me. it depends on the maturity level. if you've got an immature 16 year old with a mature 14 year old then maybe, but i like to think that i'm more mature than a 14 year old so it wouldn't work out anyway. it's your decision, that was just my little scenario.

I am looking for a peice of jewelry for my mom with and emerald in it. I have tried looking online but i just get confused, and where i live doesn't sell emeralds. My budget is 200 dollars.
Thanks a bunch.

okay, so i just looked at kay.com (kay jewelry, they have commercials on tv) and they have four pairs of earrings, a ton of pendants, and two rings that are in your price range. they are all pretty too. if you have siblings, you could ask them to chip in so you can maybe buy her a pendant and earring set or something. that would be really nice. when you go to their website, click on "diamond and gemstone jewelry" and then click on "emerald". that is where i am looking. i bet your mom will love it! but if you get her a ring, make sure you find out her ring size. if you know your own ring size, then try on a ring of hers and see how it compares (my mom did this to me and i didn't even realize what she was doing).

1. If a customer orders, but then demands a refund while the food is almost finished cooking, because they thought it was too expensive, is the money returned?
2. If a customer eats the food they ordered, then say they did not like it, is the money returned?

Thanks. My parents have a restaurant, so I was curious.

1. if a customer pays before, they would have to be a total moron to realize five minutes later that they don't want to pay that much. if they ask for the money to be returned, somebody needs to beat the crap out of them. in that case, no refund.
2. if they didn't like it, big whoop. no refund. if they get food poisoning, then they get a refund. but if they just didn't think it was very good, then they still have to pay for it. unless it is not sanitary.

Okay, is wearing a cut-out swimsuit as a top with jeans completely tacky and unacceptable haha?

I like the look of it but I know it looks a bit slutty but I'm not sure if it's TOO slutty haha, I wouldn't be wearing it to a club or anywhere, just to be around.

i have actually never seen anybody do that, unless they were actually going swimming. i think it would look a little bit weird. i mean, if people do it where you live, it wouldn't be weird, but people where i live don't do that. you can buy like tank tops though and it would be almost the same thing, and probably more widely accepted. it's not completely tacky, and it's perfectly acceptable... if you're going swimming that day. otherwise, stick to a tank top.

if im a men's 7 shoe what am i in womens?

i believe you are supposed to add 1.5 size to the men's size to get the women's size, which would be an 8.5, but most of the time for me i have to add 2. so i am a men's 7 shoe size too, and i wear a 9 in women's.

I got my new pair of Converse Chucks shoes yesterday, but on the box it says size 4 mens, and size 6 womens. But on the receipt it says MENS! Is this a good/bad thing for a *girl* to have MENS shoes? Are Converse Chucks men's and women's shoes kinda made/are the same way? I don't know if it's me, but they really DO look like men's shoes and it's kinda embarrassing if anyone knew! On the website converse.com, if you look at a shoe and roll over sizes in US womens then size 6, it would say "your converse size is 4" So I was wondering if I could still buy them online. (I don't think size 4 men's//6 women's and size 4 women's//6 women's are the same so I'm really worried I can't buy them online.)

i was confused the first time i bought cons too! well, basically, cons are not in mens or womens specifically. it's not a man shoe, and it's not a girl shoe. it's unisex, if you will. so don't be embarrassed about wearing man shoes... converse shoes are made for girls and boys. and of course you know about how women's sizes are different from men's sizes, so that's why they print both on the box. because men and women buy the shoes. i didn't figure this out for a really long time. you can buy them online, but they aren't going to be any different from the shoes you're wearing. the thing online is just letting you know what size you are, in relation to what size the box says. i actually have two pairs of cons. but you have to get used to the way they look... when you first get them, you put them on and look down and you're like, "gee, that's weird looking." but my favorite pair, i've had for three years, and my other i've had for only a few months so i'm just now getting used to the newest pair. don't worry at all! they're not really men's shoes per se.

So, I'm a lucky duck because I get to go to Vegas for 5 days on August 18th. Well, I'm very excited and I'd love to go, but there are few problems.

1. I recently [About a month ago] got a red slider turtle. He's still a baby and we can't take him with us. We've got a dog kennel for our dog, but we never thought about my turtle. So what should I do? Is it okay for me to pile a punch of turtle food on a dry spot? If not, what else? Should I keep the lights on or off? Do I just keep one light on? If so, which one [The regular light/UVA light..UVB?] We don't have anyone that can take care of the turtle for us.

2. I majorly HATE...DESPISE getting tanned. I mean I seriously HATE it. The worst part is that I tan REALLY easily. It's gonna be sunny in Vegas and I really don't want to get tanned. I used 55 SPF Neutrogena sunblock. Erm, when and how often should I apply it? Would it help me from getting tanned? What can I do to prevent getting tanned?

3. I forget lots of stuff, especially the important miscellaneous ones. No need to remind me about clothes and toiletry and the "duh" stuff. Important things that I would need to take that many people forget/would not know about?

4. Anything at all? Haha. Thanks very much =)

I'm 15/f by the way. If that helps at all?

1.) the best bet is getting somebody to take care of it for you, but since you said you can't get anybody to do that... do you not have any friends that would do it? i mean, neighbors, friends, family, whatever. surely you can find somebody. you can go to petco or something and ask if they can take care of it.

2.) when you're in vegas, you really aren't in the sun very much. i would know because i've been there a bunch. if you use a high spf sunblock, there is basically no chance of you tanning. it depends on how much you're in the sun though. so use it in the morning and then use your own judgment after that.

3.) sunglasses. definitely. i always forget socks. also, face wash. i always forget that too.

I'm learning how to play Georgiana from Pride and Prejudice, and there is a symbol on top of the 4th note. I found out that it is called a turn, and I know you play notes around it really fast. but which notes?

in a turn, you play the note it says, then the note above it, then the original note again, then the note below the original note. i'm not sure if it's a half step or a whole step either direction... i think it's a half step going up, and then a whole step going down. try it out and see how it sounds. hope i helped :)

k, i tan outside rather than at a salon
so since its the summer, how do i get the perfect tan? what oil or lotion do i use, which do you prefer and how long should i stay out there?
also, how long do i do my back and front for?

banana boat makes an awesome tanning lotion. it's in a dark brown bottle, and comes in spf 15, 8, and 4. i usually stay out there for an hour total, and spend thirty minutes on each side.
