I'm an ordinary person who likes the following things: writing, helping people, movies, reading, jogging, animals and teaching.
I don't like: stress, confusion, people who do not drag their weight and laziness.
My good qualities (I think) are patience, open-mindedness and the ability to write and speak in public with ease.
My weaknesses (I'm always working on these!) are the tendency to take on too much, from time to time; the tendency to not get enough sleep and my eating habits could be a lot better than they are now.
I will try to answer questions in an honest, open way, involving what I think is common sense. If I don't think I can answer a question well, I will skip over it.
Go ahead....try me! Ask me a question!

I was looking at jobs. For some jobs i see you need a min. years experience. Actually this is for most of them. How do you get like 10 years experience in the job selected if you need to be in it 10 years before you start? help im confused
(link)
|
Unfortunately, you are right. Many positions are those that require a minimum of so many years experience. One thing that many people do is start out with a company in an entry-level position. That means a position that is below what you really want to do and doesn't pay what you really are probably worth, but you accept it just to get into the company and prove your worth. I am sure you have heard how many people start in the mail room and then work their way up, slowly....applying for a little better position and then a little better position than that. At the same time you are working your b*** off in these positions which are below what you really want to do....going above and beyond what is expected; going in early...staying late; working when others do not want to work. You get the idea. This is one way to work your way up in a company. Thought I would just throw it out there for your consideration. Good luck.

I've been trying to be healthy so I switched to whole grain. I got brownberry bread and it is the health nut kind. I looked and saw it has 120 calories in 1 slice. In the white valutime bread there is 80 why so much less?
(link)
|
When you buy whole wheat bread (that's the most common kind) you have to look for the words
"100 % whole wheat" on the front of the package. If your bread doesn't say 100%, you probably are getting "not as healthy" white bread that has been colored the color of wheat by the company adding caramel color (and a bunch of other stuff that they think helps it sell as "healthy," but it is not.)
The 100% whole wheat that I have in my kitchen has exactly 80 calories per slice. And you don't have to buy an expensive brand, either. The one I buy is by the store....it has the grocery store name on it. It is the cheapest of all of the "100 % kind" and is just as healthy.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

I've been applying everywhere and yet i have no luck. Not even one phone call. I've been job searching online and yet there are limited or nonlegit results. I could work online from home if any websites are interested in an 18 year old working for them whom is still in highschool and whom has no work experience. I'm willing to do an honest day's work and I'm very competent of doing anything I have knowledge of how to do. I even made my own resume. I need money really badly, and if anyone does hire me, I'd be more than happy to work. (link)

Don't know how far you live from an office of your state Employment Agency (sometimes they are called just that _____ State Employment Agency or sometimes Workforce Commission) but they can really help because they keep lists of jobs that are legit and sometimes even have counselors that you can talk with to help you find the job that's right for you. Good luck.

About two or three days ago my left armpit started itching really bad in this one spot. Two days later and there's a lump thing there. I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone know what it might be? Has this ever happened to you? (link)
|
We all have lymph nodes under our armpits. If this doesn't go away in a day or two, you really need to go to a doctor. It could be an infection and you may need antibiotics. It isn't something you would just want to ignore for a long time.

a little background : my cats 13 1/2 years old , persian, indoor.
my vet said to give my cat metamucil because her colon is kinda stopped up. but, my cat will not eat wet food, so how do i give it to her ? i put a little on her dry food yesterday but that hasnt done much. can i put it in her water ?
thanks ! (link)
|
If your vet really did tell you to give her metamucil, he/she should have told you an exact dose to give it and given you a dropper (like an eye dropper) which you fill with meds and squeeze into the side of the cat's mouth. But be SURE of what to give the cat and be sure to get the exact amount so that you don't do harm to your kitty. The dropper from the vet's office has little lines on the side so you can give the exact cc's that the vet tells you.

i was just wondering, can autistic people become psychologists? because you know, with autism you kind of aren't so good with reading people's faces and things, so is it possible to be autistic and become a psychologist?
thanks! (link)
|
I think autistic people can become anything they want to be, included perhaps a psychologist, provided they can get into a university (make good grades and study well in high school). There are many ways that autistic people learn how to compensate for being autistic. Dr. Temple Grandin is a very famous person who has autism. She is a successful animal behaviorist and is a professor at a university. She lends good insights into what it is like to be autistic. Her website is www.grandin.com, if you are interested in learning more.

how much does therapy usually cost? i have bluecrossblueshild, what will i pay out of pocket with them? (link)
|
I'm not sure, but BCBS is usually pretty good. You can get their 800 phone number online...give them a call. They will ask for your Group # and ID # and then ask them what % they will pay of your bill.
Then randomly call a couple of psychologists in your area and tell them you would like to know their rate and then ...well....you do the math! Good luck.

For the past 2 years or so i have been having breast pains and pains in my armpit and neck/under my jaw area. They are random pains and not easy to ignore. I have the pain daily not always at once but today i have been feeling it going all through that area all on my right side too. Everytime i breath all of those spots hurt especially my breast & armpit. I have no idea what the pain is from and have been to a doctor and they didn't even attempt to figure out what it was. Any ideas on what it could be? (link)
|
I really couldn't guess what it could be, but if you are having continuing pains like that, you really need to get a second opinion from another doctor. And be assertive. Tell him/her you do not want to continue with this pain without knowing what it is and get to the bottom of things. Good luck.

|
so me and this guy have been talking for a few months now and he says that i never show that i like him. how can i show him that i like him? (link)
|
If you like someone, then you probably would be talking to him, going places with him, inviting him to your home to meet your family, doing fun things together, talking and texting to him when he calls, smiling at him, listening to him, and enjoying just being with him.
I would think all of these ways are very personal ways of showing a guy that you like him. That's my opinion, anyway. Good luck.

so basically, my best friend's little sister's best friend i HEAR is abused by her older step brother. i used to know him 3 years ago, and i never thought he was like that but i just saw him a year ago and he tried gettin with me and said things to me i didnt like.
the girl is 13 and he is 16-17. i really think hes capable of this, but im not for sure that my source was reliable and i cant really get the real information because the person that told me isnt supposed to know.
so basically, how can i tell someone anonymously if i really dont know all the information ? because shes a sweet girl and doesnt deserve this.
thanks ! (link)
|
I don't know where you live, but in the states, if you have knowledge (even second hand) about abuse that might be taking place and you don't call the authorities about it, you are committing a crime. If you are in the states, every state has a Child Protective Services agency that takes calls on things like this. You don't have to worry because they NEVER tell the person who made the reporting call. NEVER. Your call is totally kept secret from the family you are reporting.
Then it is up to that agency to go to that house and investigate and make a report. At least you would know that you are doing your part to stop possible abuse of a little girl who should not have to go through that kind of thing. You can find the CPS Agency number under state government pages in the phone book. Good luck.

my father moved in 5 months ago, it was only supposed to be for 2 months...and I convinced my husband to let him stay here for the 2 months. Now he is watching my husbands tv eating our food and being way to comfortable in our house! and I feel bad because my husband wants to watch tv but wont change the channel if my dad is already watching it because he doesn't want to be rude. It is really starting to bug him...I can tell. my brother asked by dad to move in with him to help him out but by dad ignored the whole conversation, it seems like he doesn't want to leave!!! I want my normal life back but don't know how to tell him!!! (link)
|
Unfortunately, there isn't a really easy way to do what you have to do, which is to have a heart to heart with your father and tell him it is time to go to your brother's house. Tell him he needs to move out and to your brother's by the first of the month (and then stick to it). Call your brother and tell him your father will be moving in at the first of the month. Toward the end of this month, start packing your father's things up and then arrange for your brother to come over on the first day of the month and move him out...your brother would drive him to his house. Be matter of fact about it. Try not to get into specifics other than say, it's time for you to live with him. Try not to get into lengthy conversations as to why, etc. That really won't help. Good luck.

Hey, im a 14/f.
I live in salt lake city, Utah. (Murray)
I need a job and fast!!
Any idea's??
Thanks in advance (link)
|
I don't know what the laws are in your state for what age you can be to work in fast food places, etc. But if it is 15, there are still lots of things you can do in your neighborhood to earn money. Put flyers on your neighbors doors and/or call your parents'friends and relatives and let them know you are available for: babysitting, dogsitting, dog walking, watering plants and picking up newspapers of those who are on vacation, doing odd jobs for them, like helping clean out the garage, mowing lawns, etc. You might call yourself "Jill of all trades" to let them know you can do a variety of things. Good luck.

15/f. I'm sorry if this is all over the place and choppy, I'm just going to type things as they come into my head, which is really unorganized. Firstly, I know it's just a normal teenage thing, but I've been feeling the weirdest things lately. Like this morning, I was in a bad mood when I woke up, really happy when I got to school, and then went back into a terrible mood once second block rolled along. I haven't really been happy lately.
I've never exactly been skinny... about a year and a half ago, I started not eating much. I never went more than a day without eating, and it only lasted about a week, but in that week I lost sixteen pounds, and ten more in the next month or so. It made me feel accomplished that I had that kind of power over my body. I told my friend Corey first, who I now have a huge crush on... we aren't even really that close, and I don't know why I told him, I just did. I could tell he felt uncomfortable when I told him, which I think partially ruined my chances with him now. And I still think about starving myself.... Sometimes I'll go for a few days without eating a lot. I get upset and mad at myself if I look at the scale and it says I'm over 130.
Awkward jump in subject, my mom has a boyfriend. My parents split up when I was 7, so I only have a few memories of my dad living here. I feel really selfish, but I just don't like having another man here when I can barely even remember my own father in this house. Plus, I've heard him and my mom before... If you all get what I mean. Personally, I think that is extremely inconsiderate... not to mention gross. He sleeps over every weekend.
Another jump... I have mutilated myself before... as in cut myself. Not badly, and I've only bled once, but I have done it. I don't know how I feel about that. I have light scars on my arm, and I don't mind that they're there... I wasn't even really depressed when I did it. I mostly only did it when my mom and sisters would fight.... They'd be downstairs screaming and swearing at each other and it would just make me so mad. It still does. I just hate listening to them. I don't cut myself any more, but I do think about it. Sometimes when I get really upset and don't know what to do with the crazy feelings in my head, I'll bite myself... I know, that's really weird. I've never told anybody before... It just feels good to get my energy out like that. I'll usually bite my arms, and it doesn't leave a permanent mark. I only bite hard enough that I feel some pain and that's it. I've never bled because of it, and it's always gone the next day.
I'm sorry again to anyone who has read this because I understand if it's a waste of time. I just had to get some of that out, and I figured this would be a good way to do it. Sort of like an online diary. And I'm hoping that someone can relate to me.. I really feel like I don't fit in sometimes. I just hate it. I feel so stupid and insignificant sometimes, and like I'll be alone for my whole life. Haha, that's pathetic. Sorry again for anyone reading this. But thank you to anyone who's still with me and has read the whole thing. Does anyone know how I feel? Or have any ideas of how I can be a little happier, or just less insecure? I know I'm sort of unclear about my problems.
Thank you so much to anyone who can help me understand all of the things I'm going through and feeling :) (link)
|
First of all, I am so sorry you are having these problems. But have you thought that all of these things could very well be related? I think you mean well when you try to control your weight...but what you have done could cause damage to your heart. I think your self-mutilation also might be from your trying to exert some control over your life, while your life is feeling like it is spinning out of control. You poor thing. Please don't think that you can handle these things by yourself. You can't. You have to get professional help. If you don't feel like you can tell your mother right now to make an appointment at the family doctor for you (to start), then you must start with the counselor at your school.
All of what you wrote above is related. You need to get help to resolve some of these issues. Your happiness and success in life could depend upon it.Good luck.

Hello im 18/f and im usually a very happy person and see the positives in everything. The past couple weeks i've noticed im getting very frustrated with everything and anything. (my mom and my stepdad recently just got divorced) maybe that plays a role in this? If things dont go my way or anything is out of place i freak out and get really mad. My boyfriend and I were on the phone last night and there was like 20 seconds of neither of us talking and i freaked out on him. Why is this happening to me all of a sudden? I try to calm myself down but i just cant. Thanks! (link)
|
Stress and anxiety can definitely cause what you are explaining. Any kind of a life change (divorce in the family, death in the family, moving, changing schools, etc.) can definitely cause stress.
Make an appointment with your family doctor and tell him about the change in your life situation and explain to him how you have been feeling (angry, frustrated, etc.). Ask him if there is something he could prescribe to get you through this rough patch in your life right now. Good luck.

Okay, so my Dad currently has a new home where he'd be staying there alone. In his apartment, he lived with his room mates. And 1 or 2 years ago, he had a stroke. Now, he's no longer going to be living with them, but alone. I think I should go live with him starting next semester of school, but my Mom is being you know.. motherly about it. She says to go live with him next year, but I'm pretty sure she'll change her mind about it.
I feel it's important for me to stay with me, even if I'm anxious and nervous since I'd have to totally move, and not live with my Mom anymore. I feel that it's really important for me to do so. If anything does happen to my Dad again and if he's alone -- then there will be no one to help him.
What can I do? (link)
|
First off, I am sorry about your father's stroke and his living situation. I know you must be really, really worried about him and very nervous about what to do. I wonder, have you gone to visit him when he is living alone? You don't say in your story how disabled the stroke left him. Some strokes are much worse than others. Some strokes do not disable the person so much that they cannot live alone, so I wonder about the extent of his disability. So I think that might be the first thing: visit....see how he is doing....try to figure out if he can make it alone. Secondly, is there anyone on your Dad's side of the family who can look after him where he is? Are you the only person who can live with him and be at the ready should he have another stroke??? And lastly, how does your father feel about this? Have you talked to him about your worries and fears about his safety? I think you have alot more to find out before making a decision to move in with him. Get more information first. Then, if you would, post here again. Good luck.

In my psychology class we trade tests, and someone random grades it. I was going over my test to see what I got wrong for my final thats coming up, and realized a bonus question was counted wrong. The answer I wrote on the bonus question was identical to what we'd written in our notes/the correct answer. My grader counted it wrong, and that question is worth 5 points.
I got an 89 on this test, and if i'd gotten a 90, i'd be able to exempt the final. well, if my answer had been counted right, i would have a 94, therefore being able to exempt the final. the thing is, we took this exam on sept 23, and i only noticed now when reviewing for my final.
do you think its worth showing my teacher, and trying to get the extra points? thank you! (link)
|
Absolutely. Not only should you consider it, but it is something you need to do for yourself. It is called self-advocating. No one should accept something that is less than what they have earned. I am sure you will self-advocate in a positive way to your professor and get the grade that you should have. This is good practice for what you need to do for your whole life. Good luck.

i am a single dad of 4 children 3 girls age 9 , 13, 16, and a boy age 8 my sister has been questing my children about me seeing them naked.
i bath my 8, and 9 year old and wash my 13 year old hair the only reason i help my 16 year old is bescause she has 2 broken arms and a broken leg who eles can hekp me (link)
|
Okay...I am going to try to answer this question delicately, because I think this is a "delicate" situation. First of all, I am not saying that you mean anything but the best for your children. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you taking care of four children all alone. You seem to be doing the best you can. But I think it might be time to step back and think about the "delicate" stuff. Yes, you want to take care of them and help them get washed properly, but there is also that "delicate" stuff that needs to come into play, especially at the ages that your girls are now. I might be wrong, but I would think that the 9 year old should be able to begin washing herself, with supervision. She should be holding the wash cloth and doing the washing and you should just be helping out with her hair, maybe. But at the same time, you should be teaching her how to wash her own hair and get the shampoo out when rinsing, etc. For the girl who is 13, there is absolutely no reason why she shouldn't be washing her own hair and rinsing it properly, as well. Could you start instructing her to do it herself with the idea that you can start backing off, just as you are with the 9 year old taking her own bath?
As far as the 16 year old, you seem to be doing the best you can, considering all of her problems. It certainly looks like you could use some help with her. Is there someone you could hire to come in and give her a bath a couple of times a week? Like a home health worker? They do not get paid all that much, but that might be something to look into, considering all of her broken bones. And she may feel less embarrassed about her father having to bathe her, as well.
Please don't take these suggestions as anything but trying to help out with the "delicate" situation of a Dad trying to do his best, but having girls to help. Good luck.

When i'm at school, in lunch at the same time everyday I get really blotchy on my chest, the side of my face, sometimes my upper arms, and the back of my neck. I dont know whats causing this but its happened before in other situations like when i went in for my job interview. Im really pale so the blotchy patches are much more noticable. I dont know what to do, but it's so embarassing! It usually happens when i'm nervous, or I feel out of place. My chest gets really hot, and so does my face and then in no time I turn all red and blotchy! PLEASE HELP!!!!!! (link)
|
Well, you don't say if you are eating something at lunch time when this happens. If you are, it sounds like you might be having an allergic reaction to something you ate. If you are not eating or have just eaten when this happens, it still could be an allergic reaction to something around when you are in lunch.
I definitely would say something to your parent and get to a doctor. This isn't normal and you definitely have to find out what is causing this to happen. You don't want to ignore something like this. Good luck.
