Hi, this is Kate. I'm 17. My life motto is 'Live Laugh Love', I really think those are great words to live by and I'm planning to have it made into a tattoo. I'm not religious but I love learning about different religions. I write stories based on things that have happened to me because sometimes I have days where I just think 'wow that sounds like something out of a book'. I've finished 3 stories and I'm about to start my first horror story..very exciting. I believe in fairy tale love...the kissing in the rain, staring at the stars on the rooftop kind of love..Why? Because I'm in that kind of love and its been the greatest time of my life. And it didn't come easy.
I'd love to help you with whatever issues come your way. I've been in relationships where the guy was too old for me, the guy was my best friend, the guy just wanted to get some. I've been the other woman but I'm not proud of it. I've been the girl who waits years to be with the guy she wanted.
I come from the type of home where everyone seems okay and then when everyone leaves its chaos. My parents should have been divorced years ago and I can't stand to be around either of them so for now I'm going day by day, only coming home to sleep and counting down the days until I go to college in August.

i start college in a few days, and i'm (finally) starting to freak out.
what should i bring? do i pack all my clothes? or just some of them, so that i don't have to pack again when i'm going back home?
should i bring school supplies, or buy them after i figure out what my classes require? i have pens and pencils and a backpack, obviously.
my parents honestly believe that college students come home every weekend. how do i let them know otherwise, without killing them? i wouldn't mind coming home every once in awhile, but i am not taking a two-hour ride back once a week.
there's so much more but i can't think of it right now. expect a couple edits. (link)

I brought all my clothes and it wasn't necessary. Just a few pairs of shorts but mostly pants because it's starting to get chilly. Basically bring your fall clothes plus a few favorites from your summer collection.
School supplies, they don't really tell you what you need. I suggest a notebook and folder for each class. I get handouts everyday. I have time in between classes so that I can go back and forth to my dorm and don't have to carry all my books all day so my tote bag/purse from Abercrombie is the perfect size for a notebook. I don't really need a backpack, but thats just me.
My parents are the opposite about the being home on weekends part. Just tell them you have work to do and think you'll get it done easier if you're at school.
Any more questions that get specific can go in my inbox.

This was my answer to another question. But I would have said the same thing. It really works for me and I don't really ever diet. Just eat 3 meals a day and stop snacking.

I am a person who believes in god but I do not believe that god is a person.
I believe in god but I also do not really believe in religion...
I googled it, They said you call that type of person atheist or theist but here is my question I believe in reincarnation and spirits the paranormal etc. I am so confused, What is this labeled as? Theist, Atheist? Do Atheist believe in reincarnation and happenings? Ugh.. I'm lost
*Puzzled..* (link)

You deffinately sound pagan. Its a really flexible religion with a wide variety of beliefs such as reincarnation, one or many gods, and spirits. Their definition of god is also flexible. Some believe that god is a person, others believe that it is what most call mother nature and some believe that its this sort of unexplained spirit that surrounds the earth. I suggest googling the religion and do some research. I think you'll find that you have a lot of their beliefs.

well my boyfriend asked me to move in with him and our relationship has been real short not much only 2mths.but i do want to move in with him but he asks me so many questions and idk what to tell him.the only problem thts holding ud back ae my parents cause im 17 yr. old female and he's 22 my parents know him and like him but im to young. (link)

I think we all fantasize about living with our boyfriends, myself included but I don't think after 2 months you really know all the little things about each other. After 6 months I'm still learning about the little quirks of my boyfriends daily habits. I'm glad you see the realistic point of view in your question that you are only 17 and living with your 22 year old boyfriend after only 2 months sounds a bit obsurd. At least wait until you're 18..and I don't mean the day you turn 18. I don't think people should live together until they've been dating for at least 8 months. If your parents allow it or if you can just get out without them knowing, try and stay at his place for a night or two..maybe 3. Just to get a preview of what its like to live with him. But yeah if you're asking for a straight up opinion..2 months is WAY too early to live together.

i am lifeguarding this summer and this guy jake who is 18 and my manager keeps teasing me. i always thought he kind of liked me because my first day of working he would do almost ANYTHING to get my attention. he started teasing me about little things (ewww gross what is that you are eating?) but now it's gotten a lot worse (i heard you gave tim a blow job!) he also orders me to do stuff and clean things and says i'm "whipped" aka his bitch. He also asks me if i'm a virgin (which i told him i am) and if i think he's hot and asks things like, "would you rather have sex with matt or me?" now other guys who i work with start teasing me, nothing as intense as that but still bad like, "i heard you had sex with josh!" or other things. this girl i work with says for me to not listen to him or other guys and that they just want to get reactions out of me. i'm not fat and i'm definitely not ugly so i don't see why they are doing this! jake doesn't act like this with any other girls (even girls he likes) so WHY is he doing this to me?
also on rare occasions he actually talks to me and tells me personal stuff (haha like how many kids he wants...what he is doing the next day...how it bothers him when he hangs out with some girls they don't put forth an effort to look good and don't wear makeup because they see him as a friend and only that) and is nice to me but what is up with the random mood swings??
another thing that has happened is i asked to take off of work and he demanded why and then i told him i was going on a date with this guy and he kept asking who and i finally told him. the date wasn't for a few days but he kept asking "how was your date?" everytime i walked in.
p.s. he left for college today and i was like "bye, jake have fun in college!" and gave him a hug and he didn't hug back he just left his arms open and was like "AHHHH!" (like in disgust) and then as i was walking up to the stand he said, "BYE KELLY!"
he came in later that day and saw me sitting on this guy's lap who was really into me and he was yelled at me "you whore!" (the whole time i was mouthing "help" because i really was not interested in the guy at all and wanted to get away from him) i explained this to him later and another guard was listening and said, "she's your girl why don't you do something about it?" this same guard earlier today told me "i bet in college he is going to find someone just like you to yell at and mess with!" i am sooo confused with what he thinks about me, and why he and other guys mess with me! advice please?

He probably thinks of you as a little sister type of relationship. The teasing but then protectiveness. I've dealt with so many guys like this, you have to just take it lightly because he probably doesn't mean to upset you.

i have been smoking a lot of weed and i recently have gotten migraines from it. is that possiable? because research shows that marijuuana relieves migraines.
(link)
| |
Marijuana is unpredictable, it affects everyone differently. I know people who throw up when they smoke it and for others it can relieve nausea. It's very possible that smoking could give you a migraine and the more you smoke the more your body becomes tolerant of it so you have to smoke more and more to feel the effects and smoking too much in one day can have some serious effects.

So, I'm going into my senior year in less than two weeks. All summer, I thought, it's senior year, I don't give a crap about my classes and who I'm friends with and hang out with. But now, since it's starting soon and schedules just came, I'm getting a little anxious about that stuff and I'm actually caring. Also, I feel like if I don't have classes with some of friends I'm gonna grow apart from them. Uggh, I always feel like that little bit of time right before school starts is kind of stressful, why is that? Anyone else feel this way? Senior year is supposed to be somewhat carefree (link)
| |
I was a straight A student through most of high school so I had the same thought that you had. Senior classes will be easy and I just don't care. I drank a lot and started smoking and I procrastinated with everything except art. I did drift from my friends but they were the friends that always started drama and had problems and I stayed friends with the people who matter. It's so hard to stay focused when you have college and the rest of your life to worry about but try to take it day by day and really push yourself to do your best because it really matters. I didn't get into my first choice school and right now I'm miserable at my 2nd choice school. Please don't screw up. If you push yourself before you get the grade warnings then you'll be much happier than hearing week after week that your grades are low. It will be stressful but I can't even tell you how much I would trade a week here for a chance to go back to my senior year for a week. Don't waste your time with the people you know. You'll regret it so much.

I am 28 years old and feel spiritually devastated.
I was raised by a catholic mom and an agnostic dad (my mom is in denial). I have 6 siblings who are also either very religious or also agnostic/ undecided. All of my immediate spiritual role-models seem dysfunctional... and I probably am too.
I was confirmed at 16 as a Catholic but have never felt moved by the religion or any of its doctrines. I avoid spiritual conversations with my family at all costs, as it usually leads to confrontation (especially with my mom).
I don't believe homosexuality is wrong.
I don't believe sex before marriage is a sin.
I personally can't fathom an abortion, but feel others should have a choice.
I don't know that I believe in a biblical Hell or Heaven.
I don't know that Jesus was anymore the son of God than you or I...but I believe he was a wonderful and true person.
Other than that - I'm at a loss. I believe I am a moral person. I feel very strongly about the things I believe to be right and wrong - but as far as I can tell, I don't fit ANYWHERE in mainstream spirituality.
However, I need to believe in something and feel it is right. I definitely feel like a spiritual person, just not a religious person....
Should I be concerned for my soul?
Should I confront my family about my spirituality and risk being disowned?
Lost,

I have all the same beliefs as you or at least all the same as the ones you listed. My mom wasn't as religious as yours but I have probably only been to church 5 times in my life. My family wasn't really dedicated to a religion and for a while I liked that but as I got older I wanted something that I could be a part of. I found paganism..its not exactly a mainstream religion and no, my parents don't know but they don't know a lot of things about me. Not going to lie when I first thought paganism I was thinking 'ok great I have the same ideas as tree huggers and hippies and those gothic kids' but I started learing more about it and found more people who didn't fit the stereotype and I'm at the point where if someone asks me what religion I am I would think pagan and say agnostic. I'm not trying to preach because you have to make your own decisions otherwise you're going to be unhappy if you suddenly realize its not what you want. Do the research to find what's right for you but just remember that religion has nothing to do with morals because no matter what you believe spiritually you can still have the same morals.

im 5'2 and 100 lbs, and i started my period last month, and i thought you were supposed to start developing them before your period. not only that, but im 15. ive never met a girl who still doesnt have them my age and im starting to worry if i will ever get them. all the other signs of puberty are there, but i dont have any boobs at all- and by that i dont mean they're small- i mean theres actually nothing there, i might as well be a ten year old boy. i just want to know if anyone is in the same position as me or was but eventually got them, but any answers at all will really help. My best friend is your size, maybe a few inches taller and the exact same way but she's 17. I think she has a 32A now and she's still bigger than her step mom. She gained 10lbs this summer which helped. I was pretty much flat chested when I was 14 and now I'm almost 18 and a 34C and I swear they're still getting bigger. I know you want them but its just one of those annoying things that takes its sweet ol' time.
|
|
i used to be a 34B but now all of my bras are too small for me...i like push ups so would i be a 34C? or a 32C? like is the number a smaller c? cause i tried on a 34C and the cup was a little too big, i like my bras tight so i'd want just one step above a 34B...can someone help me out? (link)
| |
I didn't have a problem going from a 34B to a 34C but everyone's different. Try either a 36B or a 32C. The 32 might be a little small though. I've found that I can be different sizes at different stores so if a 34C doesn't work for you in one store then try another.

i had to get a new one cause my other one fell in a lake. so it came in the mail then i went to sprint to get it activated. but when i got it back, i realized it doesn't have all of the apps it did before.like, i can't set up my email or go on the internet. theres no way to get on there.
helppp (link)

Call sprint or go into a store and make sure that your blackberry plan is still set up. Something went wrong with my blackberry pearl and I had to have the blackberry plan reactivated (with AT&T) otherwise it was basically just a phone..how boring..lol. They sent me a text which allowed me to get it set up on my phone(I didn't have the internet icons either). Just call sprint!

I recently had to give up my dream of being a horse jockey because I failed the hearing part of the vision and hearing test. So I moved on to plan B which is Aerospace engineering, and for that I only want to attend Caltech. I can definitely handle that type of school, but since I only need to graduate to be a jockey I slacked off in school. This is my senior year and I have to take the SAT and make a score better than a 2100. I DON'T want to do anything else in life. Can anyone tell the best or most helpful SAT study guides or practices? (link)
|
Everyone in my school did bad on the reading because you have a lot to read in not a lot of time and then answer the questions. You have to learn to skim through the reading read the questions then go back and find them. Most schools around here had SAT prep classes at night. I took a math prep and an English prep. The math really helped because I was in pre-calculus at the time and a lot of the questions were algebra and geometry so it got me familiar with those types of questions again. I highly recommend getting a book of SAT vocab and learning all of them. You can also take them a couple times and improve on what you got wrong each time. I know someone who went from a 1200 to an 1800 because she kept retaking them. I also know someone who got a 2190 so it's.deffinately possible.
Good luck!

Where can I sign up to be a penpal? I want a penpal from a different country (English speaking though) so we can talk about how the countries and customs are different. I am in the United States. Is there a website for this sort of thing? I don't have access to a bank account or anything either so it would have to be free... (link)
|
Google does wonders so you can always look there but the site I found most successful was Interpals.net
I think I've been talking to some people for at least a year on there. I met someone who lived an hour away from me and I keep in contact with a guy from South Africa and another from Australia.
I did find another email pen pal on a site that I don't remember the name of and he was from the UK. But I found the site on google. And all of these were free

The only thing that I can think of would be to work out but only exercise one peck muscle? lol. If you lay on your back and lay out your arm like an eagle i guess (the side with the smaller boob) and then lift a 5lb weight straight up and do about 20 of those a day until your boobs are even. This is the only thing I can think of..unfortunately theres no miracle pills that only enhance one boob.

This is a little long but its very important to me, soplease take the time to read;
So, background info,I am 19 years old, I am someone who gives alot of advice, in fact I have had a column on this site for sometime, so believe me I have thought this through in my head times, in most of the ways I would recommend to others. Secondly, when about 2-3 years ago, I went through a reasonably long period of on again off again depression, never saw a doctor or anything but did get some councilling and they said it was most likely mild bipolar depression. Anyway you don't really need to know much about that to answer the question.
The problem is I can feel myself going into some kind of rut, similar to the way i would feel two years ago and I want to try and stop it before it gets to me. The cause of the ruts is usually that there is nothing to challenge me, at present. I don't return to college for another month and although I have good friends and I'm going out with them quite alot and I have some friendships growing, I'm getting sick of them all, which sounds really mean and I know these feelings are only temporary but still what I need is some kind of inspiration or something and I have no idea where it can come from,I need some kind of motivation to get me out of this rut before I get into it. I just feel mentally...heavy I guess is the only word i can think of, like really lazy and tired, when I shouldn't be since I've been exercising etc.
I understand this is a difficult question, but like I say I just need some type of motivation or something, any ideas?
Thank you for anyone who even took the time to read this!

Coming from someone who is becoming bored of their friends and the world around them. A few years ago I was so bored with life, I felt like it was the same shit everyday and it never got any better and having these thoughts in my head just pissed me off more. One day on a whim I started painting. There was a week that I just sat in the basement and paited all day, everyday. It got me out of my rut. I had isolated myself so much that by the end of the week I actually wanted to hang out with my friends and didn't feel obligated to. This was about 3 years ago. I still paint but its gone from stress relief to bring an actual enjoyable hobby. I'm starting to feel the rut coming back though..the same feeling of everyday is the same as the last...even if they're good days, the lack of change is boring. So I've decided that at least twice a week I'm forcing myself to do something out of the ordinary of my usual routine. For example, my summer routine has been wake up at noon, take a shower and drive to my boyfriends house, stay there until 2am, go to bed around 3:30 and do it all again the next day. So now that I have this mission to change my plans, this week I had him come here and we painted together(something I've always kept to myself). Then one day we built a birdhouse, and tomorrow we're going to a drive in movie.something I haven't done since I was 6. Last week we drove out of state to go fishing even though there's tons of perfectly good fishing spots near where we live..it was just nice to get out of the area. You don't sound depressed, you sound bored with life. Get out and do something out of the ordinary. Spice it up a little! And find something that you love to do for yourself.

My kitchen and my living room are in the same room. The kitchen is about 13 feet, and the living room is right next to it and is about the same measurement. We are redoing our kitchen so its a lot nicer looking. The dilemma i am having is decorating. Since there is no wall separating the kitchen and the living room, i have to do the same color theme for each room. We are putting wood floorig through out the entire house too. I want to give the area a really fresh, and polished look.
So if anyone has any ideas on how to decorate my kitchen/living room (color themes, furniture, etc) please help me out!!! Thank You! (link)
|
Your sense of style would be helpful but I'm going to do my best without it. Maybe a beach theme without it being literal. Like a blue/gray on the walls, furniture could be dark woods or white and you can even mix them. Same goes for the cabinets although my personal favorite is white cabinets with some sort of brushed nickel or black hardware. Your color palate would be blues, white, neutrals, grays and silver.
Next option is a lot of earthy tones. Maybe a taupe/beige on all the walls and then a coffee or chocolate brown on the wall where you have your tv or a main focus wall. Do a stone backsplash, tile would look odd amongst all the natural elements.
Pale yellow is really light and fresh as long as it doesn't end up being off-white. It could work with your couch as long as you get another piece of furniture thats brownish. Most of your accessories would be citrus colors, pale orange, greens, white. I'm acutally looking at some Dove deoderant right now thats Energizing Citrus and thats where I got all those colors from and they work really nicely and its very light and airy and fresh.
Neutrals and earth tones are warm colors.
Reds/oranges are energizing.
Blues are cool and calming.
Yellows, greens and lighter shades of orange are relaxing happy colors.

I'm 18/f and have wanted a tattoo for quite some time.
I've always wanted a short quote along the side of my foot, and there are only 2 things stopping me.
I'm not very pain-tolerant, and I know the foot is one of the most painful places to get a tattoo, and the easiest to get an infection. I've done my research. Also, the quote I used to want is much too long to get on my foot.
So here are my questions:
Does anyone know and good, short-esque quotes you could get tattooed along the side of your foot? [If you've seen a tattoo you think is awesome (small tattoo!) and it's not a quote, feel free to share that too]
And, just in case I decide that I'm much too pain intolerant to get it on the side of my foot, what are some other, less painful places to get a quote tattoo? Make sure it's a place that can be easily covered when I enter my career (I'm in college to become a teacher).
I'm not going to get one unless I'm positive, but there's nothing wrong with getting suggestions.
Thanks!

When I turn 18 I will be getting a tattoo on my wrist that says "Live.Laugh.Love" in an arc form. It's the quote I live by so it means a lot to me. I know a girl who has about 6 tattoos all over her body. She said the ones on her wrists didn't hurt, the one on her foot hurt the most, the one on her hand (the squishy part between your thumb and the rest of your hand) it just felt weird but didn't really hurt and the one on her lower side, the biggest tatt she has, didn't hurt until they got to the hip/pelvis area.
I think a song quote would be neat, not everyone would know of it. If you're religious then maybe something related to that. There's a design for The Tree of Life, that I might also get. You can always make up your own quote. Just make sure its perfect. I took at least a month designing my tattoo. Then I drew it on with a pen to get used to the idea of having something permanant on me.
I hear you on the issue of needing it to be coverable. If you have long hair then a tattoo on your upper back can be hidable. I have a neighbor and for at least 6 months I never knew she had a tattoo because she has hair halfway down her back but then one day she wore it up with an open back shirt and she had a HUGE tattoo all across her back. There were a lot of teachers in my school who had ankle tattoos and you didn't see them until the summer when they started wearing skirts.

20/f So...I am absolutely crazy about my best friend.
we have been best friends for about 6 years and i have had feelings for him off and on throughout that entire time. But right now he has a gf. she is super controlling and hates me cuz we are so close (like, we finish each others sentences and it drives her nuts). he says he wants to dump her, but then chickens out.
I am so crazy about this guy...and even though he has a gf, i think he cares about me too. I want to be with him....what do i do? (link)
|
Your question perfectly described my life a year ago. I told him in June that I liked him and he liked me too so we hung out all summer without his crazy girlfriend knowing. They broke up in October and we started this relationship which I thought was perfect and so did he for a while but once it came down to getting intimate he thought it was getting akward despite admitting to fantisising about it. So we decided to call it quits. I'm rambling, but that's my story of falling in love with my best friend.I'm not saying your situation will be the same. My advice would be to tell him. If he's on the edge of breaking up with her then he obviously knows the relationship isn't right. Maybe he doesn't know what he could have(you) which is why I deffinately think you should tell him. Its a risk but it could be a great reward. Although I'm in a new relationship now that's picture perfect the time that I was with my best friend were some of the best times of my life and we're still great friends.
Go for it!

Hello everyone. This question is more for guys, or for females who have faced similar circumstances. I'm open to any answers, but I really need a "personal experience" perspective, not an opinion, from a girl ;]
My boyfriend wears AWFUL jeans. Now, I'm not complaining, 'waaah I wanna change my man and he wears loose jeans'. No. He's worn the same jeans for five years. Literally. These jeans have missing pockets, are ripped beyond recognition, and have paint splatters from his job (which is putting it nicely. There's more paint than jean in some cases)
I don't have issues in that he still wears them. It's the fact that he wears these jeans when he go out on dates that bothers me. Would it be out of line to buy him new jeans? I know his size, and what brands he likes. And I wouldn't be forcing him to throw out jeans he loves- I know that men refuse to throw anything out that they think is comfortable (my dad's the same way, as is every other male I know). I just want my boyfriend to look nice when we're out!
So, guys, would you be mad if your girlfriend bought you a new pair of jeans and asked you to wear them when you were on a date?
We've been dating for almost a year, he's 19, I'm 17. Thank you!
♥ (link)

My boyfriend is the same way. Baggy jeans that are so old they rip a little more everytime he bends his knees and he wears them out! I think I've gotten 4 new pairs of jeans and he hasn't gotten any in the time we've been together. I'd go ahead and get him some new jeans. I always tell my bf he needs new jeans and he agrees so he's not offended or anything. Maybe you can get them as an anniversary or birthday gift or tell him you went to the mall and they were on sale really cheap so it doesn't sound like you went out of your way..it was just something you thought of as you walked by. They're not going to be old and comfy so just put them in the dryer to get the new jean feel out of them.

how many people love their life no matter what happen or happened in your life??i do even through my ups & down im happy to still be living =) (link)

I was a bit of a pessimist but then my best friend in the whole entire world got me a necklace for my 16th birthday with the quote "Live Laugh Love" on it. Something about the necklace changed my view on things, I live by that phrase and it keeps me going. Eventually I want it made into a tattoo. To me it means, don't waste your days here, find humor in your mistakes and have passion for something in your life.
