i'm kathryn, but i prefer to be called kay. i am 17 and i am a senior. i don't have the most exciting life, but i still have fun. my favorite colors are blue and pink. i am christian and I LOVE GOD. my boyfriends name is kyle. we've been dating for 10 months, almost 3 years on-and-off. i love photography. i want to go to college at Texas State with my best friend. i'm obsessed with stars and music. giving advice is something i enjoy doing because it makes me feel like i'm doing something... alot of people have come to me so i feel as if i should be doing something else about it and thats partly why i have this advice column...

Hey there! Im 13 and i kno i have a HUGE weight problem and i admit it!!! I live in such a small town with nothing to do!!! I skate to skool and bak (And becuz my house is out of my skool boundarie it is pretty far, i skate pretty far) but im still over weight and i try to watch what i eat and only drink diet soda and water but i sit on the computer alot and i need help!!!

well my friend to,d me the other day that she tried cutting and she showed me the scar. i told her it was bad and everything..i was like yelling at her not to do it again and what it could do to a person. she told me she would never do it again and so far she hasnt i made her let me see her wrists..and i know there are other places that she could cut too like her stomach and stuff..but im not going ot do a full body search on her everyday and im really worried about her. she made me promise not to tell anyone else..but i told my other really good friend i know she won't tell because i know she would be worried about her too. i really dont want to do and i dont know if shes lying and is still cutting..and i don't want to tell anyone because it was just one time and if she really stopped i would feel bad she would be really mad if i told on her. she would never tell me anything else again and im scared i will loose her friendship. im really worried about her please help me i rate high**

i'm kind of like your friend. i tried cutting once and it wasnt good. i regreted the whole thing and i promised to myself that i wouldnt do it again and i havent. maybe your friend is the same way. she probably wishes she didnt do it becuase it wasnt worth it. just ask her and tell her to be honest. look her in the eyes when you talk to her though... most people can't look at people in the eyes when they are trying to tell a lie. p.s.... if you want to try and get a peak at her ankles or inner thighs... thats where alot of people cut. ask her to go swimming somewere!! then you will have a really big chance to see.

if its a girl... talk to her about it... sometimes friends use you, but they get over it. it has happened to me twice. however, i talked to them about it and we worked it out together. tell her that if she DOES like him, she needs to go over to HIS house. and i would advise you to talk to Carlos about it as well. he might need to know so he can help you out.
if i was in your position, i would tell Chrissy the truth. trust me, if you can't tell your friend the truth the friendship wont last long! i've learned THAT from experience!!!

ok...what is wrong with me? i sound like a baby! my voice is really quiet and i seriously sound like a 4 year old, just with normal pronounceations :/ but yeah...really i do. i really hate it and i guess its always been like this. of course your ears hear different then what your voice actually sounds like..so to me i actually think i sound like im 15. but, at school we did this thing and recorded ourselves and i noticed how much of a baby i sounded like. i also left a message on r answering machine thingy and ohh my! i sound like im 4! im 13 years old and nobody, i mean nobody but 1 person sounds like a baby other than me. all my friends sound their age and some sound older. and all the guys voices have changed and r lower now. i know your probably going to say im just a person who isnt at the same rate as everybody..but i mean this is my voice. i think atleast your voice could have changed already. ugh! will this ever go away? its really embaressing for me now, and i dont talk much because of it. ive totally lost self conciousness or wutever you call it, and even more because i think im a little overweight, so im just OUT of self conciousness. will this dumb baby voice ever go away? err and im short. my mom is short too, and is only about 4 inches taller than me. but, once again all my friends are taller than me. and my friend amber is always bugging me about how short i am. i really havent grown since 5th grade. (im now in the end of 7th) trust me..ive measured, so i havent grown. and i remember in 5th grade when my friend mel and i measured ourselves, and im still the same size. i have grown (as in chubbier) and i have boobs. my sister isnt short though, shes about 5'7 and is 17, but she has been tall since my age and im only between 5 and 5'1. when will i grow?!?!? and what about my voice?! jake was imitating me today..and he was talking in a baby voice. he wasnt really making fun of it, but he was just repeating what i said and talked like me, so it was in a baby voice. i dont care too much about the being short thing, but this voice has got to go! :p thank you! :o)
Learn to LOVE your voice, and speak out against people who make fun of you. If you have a high self esteem people wont make fun of you, but if you talk about how you hate your voice people will make fun of you. Try to walk tall and be loud! usually the pitch of your voice depends on your height, and you have a long life to live to be able to grow!! hoped i helped!

I’m a (female) high school senior, and I'm "one of the guys.” For a while now, I've had a big crush on Alan, my best friend at my school, the quarterback. He’s a jerk and a player, but a great friend.
For about a year he dated a popular younger girl, Bella. Recently, he asked our mutual friend Naomi to Prom, and Bella dumped him. He and Naomi immediately hooked up. However, he began leading me on big time, and I kissed him. It was a dumb move, but it doesn't seem to have damaged my friendship with anyone, not even him.
Now, though, he's dumping Naomi to go back to Bella, and I’m going nuts. It's not that I want to be with him--I know it'd never work out, and I'd rather stay his friend… but he’s hurting. He's been miserable for two weeks: pale, sickly, and sad. Naomi's nearly lost her head, when normally she's so cool and calm. I’m not close to Bella, but she’s hurt and that hurts me too. Everyone is miserable and it's killing me. I love Naomi and Alan as friends, and I can't bear to see them suffer.
Further, Naomi's friends Jennie and Jackie are making life a living purgatory for all of us. Jennie and Jackie are just plain malicious toward Alan (and I can't blame them). Jackie, in addition to using this to get back at her hated rival Alan, is using the opportunity to move in on me. She seems to have a huge crush on me, but can only express it in “Helga” fashion by bullying me. The girls’ meddling boils my blood, and watching them manipulate both Naomi and Alan behind their backs makes me suffer almost as much as the bad blood between the two star-crossed lovers.
All I really want is to come out of this with Alan’s friendship, and to restore the happiness of Al, Naomi, and possibly Jennie. I can no longer bear to watch them suffer; it’s killing me, I hate to see my friends so sad. There must be something I can do; some way to make things right, but I can’t find it. What can I do to help them?
It sucks seeing your friends in such a bad position... just be there for them... that's usually all friends want is to have someone to be there for them... And for the Alan situation, tell him how you feel. You need to be able to be honest with him... If you dont want to come right out with it give him really big signals, just not around Bella. It might take him a while to break up with Bella, but i bet if/when they DO break up he'll come after you if he really does like you!!!

my freind has 2 holes in each ear, and she wanted another one. has been buggin her mom for like half a year. a few days ago, she peirced it. she told me that it hurt...so she only stuck the needle halfway through. now there is a reddish purple bump over where the hole should be. it is soo noticable is it infected or something?

even though you play hard to get, you can still hug them and flirt with them. hug them and smile alot. you can still play hard to get by turning your head if they try to kiss you, but remember to smile!!! guys LOVE it when girls laugh and smile alot. play hard to get like you want to, but just remember to not be TO hard on them or they'll think that they will NEVER get you and you are just messing with their heads... they HATE that!

OMGOSH!!!! online relationships are REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY bad(most times)... unless you have seen a picture, have a friend who knows him, talked to him on the phone, etc the relationship won't last long. PLUS it SUCKS not being able to see him and spend time with him!!!
but if you REALLY like him... tell your friends... you will find out if they really are your friends are not... if they think its stupid and call you shit then you know that they aren't too great of friends... if they are concerned or if they are there for you then they ARE friends...

OMG i feel the exact same thing(haha)... but since i dont know how old you are i'll try and make this as general as possible...
DON'T buy trojan... they SUCK... dont have sex while you are on your period... there is a MUCH bigger chance of getting pregnant! and if you DO get pregnant... there ARE things called abortions... it probably wouldnt be too great it you have sex while you are still in grades from 8th to 9th or maybe ven 10th grade... word gets around and you'll be labled as a "slut" or a "whore"... trust me... guys have sex and are considered as "tight" while we are known as "sluts"... try and find someone who has either had sex only a few times or not even at all... (WAY less chance of him having stds or aids or something)... do it with someone you REALLLLLLLLY care about... you will regret it ALOT if you do it with someone that you only "like"...

love is something you feel towards a person that you have never felt before. love is when you care about someone so much that you forget about everyone else in the owlrd and just focus on them. love is when you dont need to look at any other person and think about what it might be like with them. love is when you'd rather be with that person rather than with some other guy/girl. love is when you miss then as soon as they leave you for that night. love is when you sit by the phone and wait for them to call. love is when you never want to leave them. love is when you could never get mad at them. love is when you can't stand it when they are upset with you. love is when you regret having to turn down a day to see them and you promise to make it up to them. love is when a guy will go to a chick flick movie just so they can see you and be with you. love is when they say "i love you" out of the blue. love can be painful but great.
