my freind has 2 holes in each ear, and she wanted another one. has been buggin her mom for like half a year. a few days ago, she peirced it. she told me that it hurt...so she only stuck the needle halfway through. now there is a reddish purple bump over where the hole should be. it is soo noticable is it infected or something?
Additional info, added Wednesday May 18 2005, 7:48 pm: ...the needle wasn't sterilized or anything, and she doesn't want to go to place, because her mom eill find out and shell be in trouble.... Put rubbing alcohol on it. It will burn, bug it is killing the bacteria. Continue to put rubbing alcohol on it three or more times a day. If you can put some neosporine on it and leave it there, inbetween swabing it with alcohol that is good. If the alcohol doesn't burn when you put it on , that means that the hole has sealed shut and the infection is inside. Bad News. She may have to get a needle of anti-biotics in there to keep it from getting worse. Large doses of vitamin C will help. taken orally, I mean.

Karen answered Wednesday May 18 2005, 7:45 pm: Yes, it's infected. Did you friend sterilize the needle that she pierced her ear with? If she didn't, then this probably caused the piercing to get infected. Just tell her to keep cleaning it and to go to a place where someone will pierce it that knows how.
