hi everyone!
i curl my hair with a curling iron every weekend (somtimes i just flat iron it) but the rest of the week i leave my hair pretty much nautral (no heat styling).
how do i keep it healthy? im going for a haircut to getrid of the spllit ends but i want to keep them away!
also, i feel like the bottom layer of my hair is extra tangly and dried out.
if it helps, my hair is fine until the day after i iron it, and then it gets split endy. so i cut off the ends. but they come back the next weekend!
i dont use a heat protector when i curl it because it gives my hair a wierdtexture, and its so much softer if i dont.
also, whats your favorite hairstyle for everyday?
(please especally answer ifyou have wavyish straightdark brown hair that goes halfway to your elbow)
and what conditioner do you use to keep your hair healthy?
thank you so much! (link)
|
In order to keep your hair healthy, use a deep conditioner once a week. Neutrogena Triple Moisture daily deep conditioner works wonders. It looks like this:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3174YPRKJ3L._AA280_PIbundle-3,TopRight,0,0_AA280_SH20_.jpg
Also, you really should use a heat protector. Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray works WONDERS.
http://www.cambert.com.my/articlephoto/Product/2.jpeg
I think the particular spray you use is probably bad, or you're using it wrong. You have to spray it on your ends after you get out of the shower and your hair is still wet. Once it's dry, or after you've blow-dried it, then you curl it. It should be fine. The Tresemme works amazing, it makes my hair even softer and leaves no residue.

and what description should i tell my hairstylist about this haircut? (link)

The best thing to do is print out the picture and show it to your stylist!!!!

Ok, so you know those pictures of people with flawless skin? Well, some people in my school are actually like that. Like, they have really flawless, soft skin. Even if they wear makeup. When I wear my makep, and it doesn't clog pores, it looks fake. It's my skin tone and all but it looks dirty or something. Can I fix this? (link)
|
People blessed with flawless skin owe it to their genes. Sucks but it's true. If they haven't gone through puberty yet, they'll get acne soon.
If your makeup looks fake, you are probably wearing too much, it's a cheap brand, or the color you wear does not properly match your skin tone.
You might not like this, but it's best to invest in professional cosmetics. The best thing to do is to visit a MAC at the mall or a salon where they have makeup professions, where they choose the right foundation/concealer for you. It's like $15 or something, but it is WELL worth it. Watch closely, or ask them to teach you how to properly apply it.
And remember, the only way you get good at makeup is by PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
Good luck honey, and remember, we all don't have perfect skin, but at least with makeup we can fake it lol.

How long would it take to gain about 30-45 ponds? I eat fruits and fatty foods but weigh about 110 or something close? Don't tell me "oh you don't need to gain weight" I just need a straight forward answer. (link)
|
Do NOT listen to the retards who told you to eat junk foods!!! It may help you gain weight, but it will also lead you to high cholesterol and blood pressure, and maybe even a heart attack.
Stick to carbs and protein and make sure you weight train, which will build muscle. The key to gaining weight is eating more calories than you burn, but make sure they are HEALTHY calories. You'll gain that weight in no time.
|
how can you figure out what percentage of your body is fat? (link)
|
The most accurate methods of calculating body fat are with caliper measurements or the water-displacement method. However, you have to have these done by a personal trainer or at a health clinic or gym.
You can use the BMI method, however, this is not a trustworthy method since it does not take in consideration how much muscle you have. Like one of the previous replies says, it does not work for athletic people.
|
whats the most success youve had in trying to lose like 10 pounds?? what did you do? i need some help..thanks! (link)
|
Wow... okay first of all, don't listen to that girl talking about the Dancer's Tea. What she didn't tell you is that those teas have laxatives in them, which make you shit all the time. So they only reason you lose weight is because you're always on the toilet. If that's what you want to do, then go ahead..
The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. So, workout more and eat smaller portions. Also, you can't eat junk food or soda. You have to eat healthy and drink plenty of water.

After training for soccer (yesterday, for 1 and 1/2 hours), i had a muscle spasm in my left calf muscle and it was sore from the on (its still sore now), and now my other calf muscle is sore (but didn't have a spasm). It's not going away from stretching.
And yes i did stretch before training.
Is there other ways to get rid of the pain (no drugs, medications etc.)???
And how long will the pain last?
Thanks so much in advance!!

The people who help on this site are great, however, the only person who can properly answer this is a trainer. I would seriously recommend talking to your trainer if you haven't done so already. You don't want to do the wrong thing as this may cause serious damage.

this girl who ive never met before just started a bunch of crap with me and a few people. its getting to the point where its going to have to be handled in person.
i'm into kickboxing classes, so i know how to punch pretty hard.
bottom line is, if it gets down to the point where needed, i will punch this girl in the face.
please dont preach how violence isnt the answer
but just a few questions
1. how much trouble can i get in?
2. i dont want to like hurt her permanently, but like a nice bruise or something would be good, so how would i go about doing that?

You can get charged with assault and battery. If you're young, you'll probably be put in a diversion program, meaning you have to do community service and write an essay, but don't forget that you still go to court. Court costs are pretty expensive, believe me, you'll regret it and your parents will hate you.
Plus, you'll be in deeper shit if you hit her and she doesn't fight back.
Anyways, kickboxing may teach you how to kick an punch hard or correctly, but it is not the same thing as fighting.
Don't let anger control you. You have to think about the consequences. Is it really worth it? just because some girl is talking shit about you? Things could be worse; God forbid, but if someone murdered your brother/sister, THEN you'd have something to be more upset about..
Like I said, just think about the consequences. You probably won't even remember this chick's name five year from now.

15/f
for the next two weeks i am goin on a diet which basically will have me running on as much fruits, vegetables, fish and water as i want. along with that i will do a 2hour a day excersize routine and i was wondering about how much weight i will loose in two weeks if i stick to the diet. (link)
|
Please do NOT go on a crash diet!
It doesn't matter how many pounds you lose. Once you get off the diet, you will end up gaining back all the pounds you lost and MORE!
Diets slow down your metabolism. When you go back to eating regularly, your body doesn't have enough time to adjust and that's why you gain back all the weight.
Just workout regularly and eat healthy. It will jumpstart your metabolism and your body will be burning calories even when you aren't working out.
Anyways, you are only fifteen. You aren't going to have the same body you have now in five years from now, so just stay active and eat healthy for now.
|
when i work my calves over a long period of time, like i have been doing, they tend to get more muscle mass rather than lose fat. what kind of excersizes would i have to do to tone down my calf muscles and burn fat but not bbuild more muscles?
thnkyou (link)
|
Try not to work them out as much.
If you still plan on exercising them, work on toning down the resistance because resistance will BUILD the muscle, which is not what you want. Do high reps, low intensity.
Also, cut down on your protein intake, since protein feeds the muscle. Eat more carbs instead.
You should also try long distance running. If you look at the body of a marathon runner, they have almost no body fat and small calve muscles.
Good luck!!!

Ok.
Well I Got My Period.
I Only Got It For A Day.
And It Hasnt Come Since.
Its Been At Least 2 Weeks.
This Hasnt Happened To Me Before.
I Mean I Didnt Get My Period For Four Months
But The Doctor Said It Was Normal.
Im Not Sexually Active Other Than The Fact That
I Finger My Self( Still Virgin).
So Is That Normal?
Btw I Sarted When I Was 11 And Im 14 Now.
Thanks For The Advice I Really Appreciate It! (link)
|
Since you are going through puberty, it's okay that you don't get a regular period yet. Even after puberty, some women still have irregular periods.
Eating habits, stress, and exercise also plays a role in how often/how heavy your period is.
But I highly agree with blwinteler. If you are extremely worried, you should see a gynecologist. It is nothing to be ashamed of and it may seem scary, but it well worth the visit in case something is wrong. As with any sickness, the longer you wait to treat it, the worse it becomes. You have to take care of your body.
Good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine!

16/f im 130 lbs. & 5'7-8". now i know im not fat, & im not saying i am. but within the past month or so, my upper thighs have begun touching when i stand straight up. Walking Lunge
Stand with your feet together. Keep your chest out and your midsection firm, do not arch your back. Place your hands on your hips or by your sides. Step forward with a large step. Bend both your knees. Your front shin should remain in a straight line with your ankle. Your back knee should be nearly touching the floor. As you are pushing up, and at the top of your lunge movement, lunge forward with the other leg repeating the same movement. Continue with this sequence, alternating from one leg to the other until you have finished the required amount of reps.
Plie Squat
Stand with your legs wide apart - (wider than shoulder width apart). Have your toes pointed outwards. Keep your chest out, your midsection firm and head facing frontwards. Hold a dumbbell at arms length in front of you (dumbbell should be in front of your pelvis, if you don't have a dumbbell, you can use a water or canned foods) the other end of the dumbbell should be facing the floor. Ensure
your back is straight and don't lean too far forward. (Keep the weights light to start with) Now bending your knees squat leaning into your heels then push yourself back up again squeezing your butt and inner thighs. Make sure you don't lift your toes up off the floor.
You can also do wall-sits or climb stairs. fitnessmagazine.com has lots of workout videos too.
Good luck!

Ok, I am overweight and have been for a few years. I desperately want to change that, but the first thing I need to know is how to plan a good workout. I have 2 workout DVDs that I plan to use. One is a dance video, and one is Fat Blasting Yoga. I also want to be able to run the mile in less than 20 minutes, but right now it takes me five minutes just to run 1/4 of a mile, and after that, i get tired. (These are all important factors for me...please think about these when you answer this question.) Thank you so much! (link)
|
First of all, I want to congratulate you on your approach to not being overweight anymore. I'm very proud of you as it's a hard thing to do!! You are a step ahead of many people.
The DVDs sound good. fitnessmagazine.com has videos that I find good.
The key to burning fat is doing cardio. Those DVDs are considered cardio. I personally like to attend aerobics classes, kickboxing being my favorite. Doing cardio at least 30 min, 3-5 times per week, and weight training or pilates 2-3 times a week is great. Don't forget to eat healthy, cut out all junk foods, and drink plenty of water!
By the way, I highly advise against traditional crunches and sit-ups. Many people do it incorrectly and end up straining their neck and backs. Try to do crunchless abs. Here are some of my favorite ab workouts:
http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-263-266-4849-0,00.html
In order to improve your mile time, you have to keep running. You should first try running in intervals. Run a lap, walk a lap, run a lap, walk a lap. If this is too much, try running 1/2 of a lap, walking 1/2 of a lap, and so on.
It may be easier if you go with the aerobics workouts first, and then try running. Your heart will be in better shape.
Also, you may want to consult a physician. If you are overweight, you don't want to overexert yourself as that could be very dangerous.
Good luck!!!

I'm not fet but I'm not skinny I want to get abs but how do I? (link)
|
OKAY.. you can do as many sit-ups as you want, but that won't get your abs to show. Ab workouts will build the muscle underneath, but you have to get rid of the flab on top in order for them to show. To lost fat, you have to do lots of cardio. Minimum of 30 min, 3-5 times per week of cardio will help, but make sure you are at at least 60% of your target heart rate. If you search online, there are sites where you put your info in and it calculates your target heart rate.
Also, you have to eat healthy. No junk food, soda, fried foods, or desserts. Drink plenty of water, eat veggies and fruits.
Good luck!!!
****You don't have to listen to me if you don't to; that's your personal choice, but please take into consideration that I am currently studying to get my Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate. Thank You****

Okay, I'm not fat, I know I'm not, I may have a little more meat on my bones than the typical person but I'm NOT fat.
The thing is, I have stretch marks between my legs, a LOT of them, my mom says its from where I was a cheerleader, I think otherwise, they go down my legs about 4 inches. & swimsuit seasons coming up, ofcourse, like everyother girl I LOVE bikinis, but this year im not getting on. I'd much rather have a camo one, but I dont want the bottom, I just want a pair of camo swimming trunks, what should I do.
I feel so stupid wanting trunks, but I am so self concious, is there any way to make the stretch marks go away? fade? i really need help.
plz> (link)
|
Stretch marks are from your skin stretching.. Either you gained mass or loss mass. I used to run sprints in track, which made me gain a LOT of butt and thigh muscle. It gave me horrible stretch marks. After I stopped running, my butt and thighs shrank, which gave me even more stretch marks. So now do you see where they come from?
Cocoa butter works okay, but the best thing you could ever get for stretch marks is Bio Oil. It's a bit pricey, but it works WONDERS. You can get it from Meijer or probably at GNC.

16/f
ok so i have a relatively thin build, I really don't have much fat at all execpt for my stomach. And I'm not like one of those skinny girls that complain that their fat. My stomach is really gross, I always have fat hanging over my pants, I also have alot of fat in my oblique area which is kinda gross too. The worse part is that because of my petit build, my fat stomach is even more obvious and unporportional.
If anyone as any ideas of how I can get abs quickly, or any good websites I would really appreciate it
What kind of food should eat?
Or what kind of diet should I be on?
ALSO: alot of times when I do cruches and stuff, my back hurts me too much and I have to stop before I can really work my ab muscles.
I am relatively active I play 2 sports and exercise daily.
Sorry it was long, Thanks in advance!!!! (link)

You can do as many crunches as you want, which will build the muscles underneath, but you need to do cardio to burn the fat. Do any type of cardio (running, swimming, dancing, elliptical trainer, aerobics) at least 30 min, 3-5 times per week, and weight training 2-3 times a week if you can. This will burn the fat. Everyone's got a six pack somewhere under there!
Personally, I highly advise AGAINST sit-ups and crunches. These put too much strain on the neck and back because so many people do it wrong. It's not their fault, but it's very difficult if you have weak abs to begin with.
Here is a site with my favorite crunchless ab workouts that have done me justice:
http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-263-266-4849-0,00.html
Like the person who replied before me, cut out the junk foods and choose healthy foods. Also, drink plenty of water. Good luck!!!

In order to get rid of flab, you have to burn the fat with cardio. Do cardio (anything that will get your heart rate up, like running, swimming, dancing, elliptical trainer, aerobics) at least 30 mins at 3-5 times per week, and weight training 2-3 times a week.
Doing sit-ups and ab work will build the muscles underneath, but you have to burn the fat on top in order for them to show, which can be burned through cardio. Everyone has as six pack somewhere under there!

hey, i am 100 lbs and 14/f
i want to lose around 5-10 lbs.
any suggestions? (link)
|
Because you are only 14, your body is still developing. You aren't going to look like this in five years when you're 19. Your body will completely change.
Anyways, it's not about what you weigh. I look like I'm 100 lbs but I'm actually 115 because I'm very fit and toned. So if it's looks you are trying to change, do 30 mins of cardio 3-5 times per week, and do weight training 2-3 times per week. Cardio will burn the fat and weights will get you toned (not bulky like a man, but nice a toned). Good luck!!

16-f
my boyfriends birthday is comming up in about 2 weeks he's gonna be 17. We've been dating for 7 months and i dont have like any money so my moms gonna have to buy it and she doesnt have much either....he like gummy worms so i was thinking of getting him a big bag or sour gummy worms & maybe 2 shirts that i think he would like...does this sound like an ok gift??
any more ideas?? (link)
|
That sounds good. You should also try to make him something, like a card. Things you made by yourself are always meaningful and I'm sure he'll appreciate the thought you put into it. If you have pictures together, make and decorate a little scrapbook. Good luck!
|
i feel like im super skinny.well i dont think so but everybody else does. i want to gain like 10 pounds. How do i gain weight so i will look better? (link)
|
I agree with the other replies. Carbs and fruits are great, just don't eat junk food! As that WILL make you gain weight, it's not necessarily HEALTHY!
I'd also like to add that you should incorporate weight training. It will help you build muscle. But don't worry, weight training does NOT make women get bulky like men. It will just get you toned.
