about

My name is Elly and I am 18 years old. I live in Michigan and I graduated High School in '07. I'm currently attending a great college, but I'm home for the summer. It's too nice outside to sit on the computer all day, so I might not be as active on here as I would like.

I guess a good way to describe me is experienced. I've discovered a lot about life and I can't wait to discover more... while having fun at the same time of course! ...BUT, like everyone, I have experienced things in life that I rather wish I hadn't. And I also feel that those bad experiences qualify me to help others with this column.

I have been in a serious relationship for over two and a half years now. I personally know that love is a difficult thing to nurture. It takes a lot of work. Life is NOT a fairytale where two people can simply love each other and everything will just fall into place. It doesn't work like that in the real world.

People on Advicenators are starting to disappoint me. Everyone says "ooh I want to help! I've experienced EVERYTHING!" Yet, I can't tell you how many questions I see with answers like "you could have googled that" or "we're not going to do your homework" or "I'm so sick of 'wow does he like me?!' questions." I used to sort of be like that, but now I realize how hypocritical that is. If I know the answer to a question, I will answer to the best of my ability without making you feel stupid for asking it in the first place. Advicenators is going to turn into a pretty nasty place if people just keep brushing off questions like that.

Rate or don't rate. I really don't care. But don't give me a 1 just because I tell you something you don't want to hear. Go to your mom for advice if you want sugarcoated answers.

I can give excellent advice on:
relationships/sex
friendship
family issues
anything about animals (i worked at a vet for several years)
college

I'd like to pick up a craft, but I don't know which one to start with. If you craft, which one did you like better?

I have a little experience with knitting (from when I was a kid), but that probably won't matter much.

I want to pick up a craft as a creative outlet, not necessarily to make practical or wearable things only.

Classes or mentoring isn't an option. I'll be starting out with learning from books only.

With those points in mind, any suggestions? Well-considered responses will be greatly appreciated. =)

Knitting is my favorite stress reliever. I was able to learn solely from web sites. Here are a few you might be interested in:

They have pictures and everything, so it should be helpful.

I don't know too much about crocheting, but here are some websites I found:

Does anyone know a advice site for kids? My sister needs alot of advice that i cant answer, she is 10 so she cant come on Advicenators! Anyone that knows a site thank you so so much.

Perhaps she could ask questions on your account then? I don't see anything wrong with that.

If not, here's a good site.

Okay. I really like this guy I'm going out with. I've gone out with him twice Friday and today(being Sunday). I really want to kiss him and today we were at his house and he asked me if his dad was upstairs and he was. It was obvious that he wanted to kiss me. He had eye contact with me and everything and he looked like he was going to go for it and I looked away. I dont understand why. Its not like it would be my first kiss it would be my second but still. I'm so nervous but I dont understand why. I've known him since 5th grade. So why can't I do it?

Perhaps things are going to fast and you don't quite realize it yet. I mean, it's only been two dates. For some people, that's way too soon for a first move. I'm sure that once you get to know him a little more intimately, you'll be ready for that kiss. And hey, you really like this kid, so you probably want your first kiss to be special. Don't rush things and it will work out better in the end. :)

when im wearing boxers and i sit down my thing like comes out of one of the leg holes and like everyone can see it.how do i make sure it doesnt fal out my boxer leg or come out of my leg hole.and why does it do that.whats the problem

remember that was 2 questions

You need to wear longer boxer shorts, or at least ones that are more form fitting so it will keep your penis in place.

It's not really a problem, it just does that. It happens to lots of guys.

I know tanning at a salon is bad for your skin, but I was thinking about doing it just for formal. I don't tan easily and I mainly freckle in the sun, does that mean I'll have the same results in a tanning bed? Am I going to get more freckles?

I suggest getting a spray-on tan. It's better for your skin and that way you KNOW you won't freckle. I don't tan, but a close friend of mine does and she always recommends it to first-timers.

Hiya.

Is there a cheat for when your sims get sick you use the cheat and they get better?

If not, what's the easiest way for them to get better? It's really annoying, because the whole family is sick so when one gets better they get sick again because of the family.

The easiest way for them to get better is for them to stay in bed all the time. What I do, so they can stay in bed and not have to get up and pee or what not, is use the "maxmotives" cheat so all of their needs are taken care of and they don't have to get out of bed.

is it weird for a 10 year old girl to be so interested in biolagy and health because my sister is 10 and she is a huge tomboy and all she does on the computer is look up stuff about brain surgery and other stuff that has long names and is hard to pronounce is that weird should i be worried for any reason i mean she is always talking like a retierd doctor all sientificly or whatever is that weird for a girl her age thanks in advance to whoever takes there time to read this PPPPEEEAACCEEE

I think it's wonderful your sister has such a great interest in biology. Let her satisfy her curiosity. It's better that she's interested in science than drugs or sex (drastic, but think about it).

It may be a little unusual since she is so young, but there's nothing unhealthy about it. It's good that she likes to learn so she can do well in school.

If you're worried your sister spends TOO much time on looking at biology stuff on the computer, invite her to do something fun with you so she can at least have a break. As long as she takes time to do other things that ten-year-olds do (like play and what not) then I wouldn't worry about it.

My dog is very old, around 17, and I recently noticed that the white of his eyes has red veins (beyond the norm), it seems pretty red.

He has cataracts (sp?), but otherwise is in good health and has a good appetite. His muscles are weak, he's deteriorating (we're thinking of when to put him to sleep :( :(

But I was wondering if the red eyes/veiny eyes is a real cause of concern, or just a sign of old age?

My dog had them too. I am uncertain as to whether or not it is a sign of old age, but I can tell you it is nothing to be worried about.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're thinking of putting him down. I just went through that a year ago and it still pains me to think about it. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here.

i want to sing her a song
any songs that are good
to make people happy
or make people happy after having someone they love cheat on them?

"Should've Said No" - Taylor Swift
"The More Boys I Meet" - Carrie Underwood
"Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood
"Not Ready to Make Nice" - The Dixie Chicks
"In Terms of Love" - SheDaisy
"Why Don't You Stay" - Heartland

Hopefully your friend likes country music. Those are some really good ones.

The best way to cheer her up would be to spend lots of time with her and make sure she knows that she has a true friend that loves her. Maybe listen to songs that have NOTHING to do with relationships, so it's off her mind.

what should i do about my family, alwalys talking, and gassip all the time. and i visit them 4 times a year. that includes my mother to.

If what they talk about bothers you, leave the room or go talk with someone else. There's no reason why you should have to sit there and listen to them if it annoys you.

15/f
me and my boyfriend have been going out for about 11 months (excluding the break)
when we hang out we make out like pretty intensely and hes felt me up before, but he doesnt always do that
idk i wanna take it farther somehow but how can i give him the hint without coming right out and saying it?

Sometimes it's important to talk about it first before you initiate something you could regret later. Have a private talk with him the next time you two are alone. BOTH of you should discuss how far the two of you would like to go. Therefore, both of you know exactly where each moment is going, both of you will get satisfaction, and there won't be any "accidents." I understand you can feel silly when talking about that stuff, but you two have been together for a long time. I'm sure both of you are mature enough to discuss these things. After all, if you are too uncomfortable to talk about these things out loud, how can you know you won't be uncomfortable doing them?

Trust me, just talk with him. You'll feel better if you do.

how do i get over a boy?

Keep yourself busy so you aren't always forced to think about him. Go out and do the things you love. Surround yourself with your family and friends. Throw yourself into your schoolwork. Join a club or sport. Just try to fill your life with as many activities as possible. You'll be moving so far forward, you won't have time to be worrying about a boy.

im not sure if youll answer this but i seriosuly need help.
okay when i masterbate like to use a mechanical toothbrush. i put a plastic bag over it. will it hurt my vagina if i stick it up my vagina and turn it on? wont it just be like a vibrator?

I see nothing wrong with it as long as you use a clean bag everytime. If you feel any pain whatsoever from doing it, stop.

[view]

is it bad to masterbate when your on your period?

Not at all. Just make sure to clean up real good afterward.

I am a terrible horrible waste of space. I have never had a speeding ticket, I am 30 years old by the way.. and i was sitting in a jail cell for 5 hrs. last night. Worst ever. I rang up returns on gift cards, used one for $33.00 and threw the other one away. The store was able to delete the one that was not spent. I am bipolar,I am not using that as a copout ,and I have no idea why I did it and it was wrong. I threw away the 2nd one because i grew a conscience. I am facing misdemeanor petty theft charges and did nothing in my life before this. Never did drugs ever.. dont drink alcohol. I cant eat, I feel awful. I have no job and fear I might go to jail. Can anyone tell me if the judge is going to be harsh on me? Any similar situations? Thanks.

Since you have a clean past record, it's quite possible that the judge will go easy on you and most likely put you on probation and make you pay a fine. I honestly can't see you going to jail for something like this, especially since it was your first offense. This is only my opinion and I encourage you to take full responsibility for your actions. It would look very nice on your part if you wrote your former employer an apology letter and it wouldn't hurt to write one to the judge as well. It shows maturity and that you are taking full blame in hopes to change yourself for the better.

As for getting another job, try and get something that has little or nothing to do with money. Apply at an animal shelter or apply for a secretary position at an office. As long as you are honest about your mistakes and are firm with your apologies, you'll get back on track again.

Everyone makes mistakes. Just make sure to learn from this one and you'll be able to bounce back.

if you are masturbating with your shower head (not like sticking it in there but like using the water and having high pressure) , can that be bad for you?

Actually, yes it could. It is possible to give yourself a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) if you masturbate with a shower head. The water could spread bacteria to your vagina and cause an infection. I wouldn't recommend doing so. You'd think that since it's only water it couldn't harm you, but the exact opposite is true.

so i babysit this six year old 3 times a week.
he lies to me all the time about what he can and can't do.
one day he told me something he could do and his mother got mad at me.
i can tell she really doesn't like me now, but she has no one else to babysit for her.
her and her husband both smoke a lot.
when i come home from her house i REEK of ciggarette smoke.
it's disgusting.
i have to scrub myself in the shower to make the smell go away.
but it's still stuck in my jacket, so i smell it everyday.
one day i had my boyfriend pick me up and he was gagging on the smell.
the mother and her husband are both getting new jobs and i'm also afraid i'm going to have later hours, which just can't happen.
it's already effecting my grades because i'm always so tired after.
i just don't know what to do.
i'm one of those people that feel guilty about everything too.
i need a lot of help, please.

I agree with the others: quitting would be a great idea. Your schoolwork should come first before anything else. Not to mention secondhand smoke is the WORST for your health.

Plus, if the mother is too stupid to make a list of things her son can and can't do, she's hardly worth working for anyway.

There are plenty of other babysitting jobs available anyway. There is no reason to feel guilty about quitting. It's just not working out. Plain and simple. If you're nervous about quitting face-to-face, call them on the phone a week before you plan to quit, just so they can have a heads-up.

does anyone have any tps on how to get the perfect legs i.e. tanninng celulite removing ideas and toning excercises?

Stair climbing, lunges, and jogging for sure. If you really want to tan, get a spray tan. It's much safer and easier on your skin. Put moisturizing lotion on your legs after every shower to keep them nice and smoother.

Here's a good web site I found:

i dont understand. it sounds contradictory to me. why do you feel more energized after exercise? do you mean in the long run? bc i always feel tired and like crap and the next day theres no difference really. why is exercise really necessary? it sounds like we are tiring out our muscles. its not as if we dont use them at all on a daily basis. what is exercise really for? how does it make us healthy?

Exercise is good for sooo many things: burning extra calories, keeping your muscles and bones strong, keeping your heart active and healthy, maintaining a healthy weight, etc. You are right that we use most of our muscles on a daily basis, but daily activities usually aren't enough to get our muscles healthy.

Sometimes the extra energy people feel after exercising is mental. They feel good about themselves, so they have a small rush of energy. For some people who do small, regular work outs, they can feel energized afterward. Obviously, you probably shouldn't expect a big rush of energy after a long, straining workout. It really depends on your own body's needs.

I've been straightening my hair almost everyday since school started (horrible, I know..) and since it's winter and extra dry, my hair's been dry too. I have always had long, thick hair and now I just noticed yesterday how THIN it's getting!! Last week I started noticing I was getting those little pieces of hair that stick out all over on the top of my head. When I brush my hair, pieces of hair fall off and break off my head and seriously my sink and floor have hair all over them. I use this --> http://shop.ryf.de/images/smooth-serum1.jpg

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. I am trying to only limit my hair straightening to one or two times a week. What should I do about the damage already!! I've always had long thick beautiful hair and parts are already looking gross and fried. UGH PLEASE HELP.

Biosilk is most definitely wonderful for your hair. They have a whole line of products ranging from shampoo to straightening serum. Although, they can be a little on the expensive side. It really depends on your budget.

I highly recommend that you start using shampoo and conditioner with lots of moisturizer in it. Try Herbal Essences moisturizing products. You should also consider hair products that specifically say they protect your hair from heat damage. Thermasilk works good for that purpose.

You can still use that straightening serum if you like it, but remember to put another product on your hair of something that will protect your hair. Use that Biosilk or go look around CVS. Hair products with aloe are really good for your hair too.
