What is this secret. Ever since I've read this question, I've wanted to know.

That's the first 20 minutes of it. You don't really need to watch the whole thing to get the concept.

Basically, it explains how you control your entire life by your thoughts. If you constantly think something is going to happen, it will. If your thoughts are positive, what actually happens in you life is positive, and the same with negative. This phenomenon is known as The Laws of Attraction.

Umm..?
Cux wrote Friday August 31 2007, 10:13 am:
Sorry- but I think this is rubbish. Sure- you can do anything you set your mind to- but just because I think that a package of Starburst is going to appear in front of my face- doesn't mean it's going to.
Cux wrote Friday August 31 2007, 10:15 am:
I just sat here for a minute- and it didn't happen. Dang- I really wanted those Starburst..
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Friday August 31 2007, 11:36 am:
Eh, it's not exactly like that. It's more like if you think positive thoughts, positives things are more likely to happen. Also, it tricks the mind somewhat. You start believing you will get what you want, and you are more prompt to go out and do it.

Besides, you have to think within reason. Unfortunately, it's not possible for a Starburst to appear in front of you face. XD

Wait, what?
LOL_x0x wrote Friday August 31 2007, 7:09 pm:
Does anyone else find this remotely creepy?
Cux wrote Friday August 31 2007, 8:07 pm:
I think its a load of crap. Sorry, Erinn, but I don't believe in stuff like this.
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Saturday September 1 2007, 8:37 am:
Jack, it's fine. Everyone has their own opinon. I don't believe in it 100%, but I figure I might as well think positive in case it does work.
LOL_x0x wrote Saturday September 1 2007, 10:47 am:
Well, I don't know about it.

I mean, sure, I'm all for positive thinking and whatnot, but I don't neccessarily (sp?) believe that it will bring about positive things.

Besides, I'm all for the saying, cliche but I like it, "Everything happens for a reason" and I think bad things need to happen along with the good. If that makes sense?
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Saturday September 1 2007, 11:09 am:
I don't know about positive thinking always having positive things, but I do believe negative thinking attracts negative things. Like if you wake up in the morning like "Today is going to suck" it generally does =].

I don't think everything happens for a reason because I know people who have experienced tragedies that really didn't need to happen. However, bad things do need to happen because you learn from the bad.

I do agree with you on that!

I disagree. I think that everything does happen for a reason. So what if its bad? If bad things never happened to good people- where would we be today. People wouldn't have motivation to do great things. If everything was handed to us on a silver platter- what motivation would we have to go out and do something if we know that our lives are just going to be easy without it. Trust me, people would chose the easy route- and we probably would have never gone to the moon, invented airplanes, or a number of other things. Bad things just have to happen. They are a part of God's plan.
Matt wrote Saturday September 1 2007, 8:38 pm:
You can argue that all things happen for a reason for every single event that has ever happened in the history of forever.
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Saturday September 1 2007, 10:38 pm:
I don't know. There are still some circumstnaces in which I can never believe there was a reason behind.

And my CCD book claims that people do have free will (if they didn't, there would be no sins), therefore, not every unfortunate event is part of God's plan.

Anyway, we really won't know how the world exactly works until we pass. I always thought that we would learn all the secrets once we were beyond the grave.

Well sin was created in Eden when Eve took a bite of the apple [correct me if I'm wrong]. But if there wasn't sin- what reason would we have to believe in God? Honestly- I've found that in a day that I don't sin as much- I have less to pray to God for, while in a day where I sin more- I find that I feel like I connect with God more and that I have a reason to worship him. So therefore, if sin didn't exist- people wouldn't have reason to praise God. So I think he did create sin- and sin is what causes a lot of bad events. I think that God plans everything out- good and bad. Not everything can be good.
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Sunday September 2 2007, 8:39 am:
I do agree with most of what you are saying, Jack. However, there are just some sins which I cannot believe that God would plan out- mortal sins.

I would rather not get into this, but there are people who I have known that had their lives taken from them in the most brutal ways imaginable. God may have intended for them to die, but I could never imagine Him inflicting it upon them as it was.

At that note, it's time for a new topic in my forum.

Sin would be for teaching us lessons. Name any event and I can argue that it happened for a reason, although I don't necessarily believe in that.
ASAPcamille wrote Sunday September 2 2007, 5:21 pm:
ow my head hurts from all this thinking.
Cux wrote Sunday September 2 2007, 7:03 pm:
Haha- sorry Erinn. At least we haven't started yelling at each other =D.
Erinn_the_bamf wrote Sunday September 2 2007, 9:59 pm:
Haha, I wanted to stop it before we got to that.

And, Jack, don't apologize! You are entitled to your own opinon =D.
Cux wrote Sunday September 2 2007, 10:23 pm:
As are you.
