there's this guy that i've been good friends with since the 2nd grade. but this year we've gotten closer (prob. cause he was dating my best friend for a while) now i seem to be feeling stronger feelings for him. more then friendship. it was a month after i started feeling this way when i told him how i felt. he gave me the "i'd like us to be friends" line. of course, i broke out in tears. and for about two weeks, i cried myself to sleep every night. we still talk normally but idk, i guess i really thought he might actually feel the same. i'm 14/f and i'd like to know what i should do. should i get over him? should i try some things to attract him? -- if so, what? idk...please help me.

It can be quite easy to convince yourself that they're attracted to you, and it can take a long time to recover when you find out they're not. This is why it might be difficult for you to accept that if he doesn't feel this way now, you can't force him to. But what you can do is attempt to save your friendship and try to move on. I know its a cliche but there are plenty of fish in the sea, and wasting your time on someone who's not interested will destroy you. I should know, because I spent 2 years obsessing over a guy who didn't love me. Anyway, my point is, keep this guy as a friend and wait for the one who does feel the same way. You can't change his mind for him. [ jessica997's advice column | Ask jessica997 A Question ]
