i want to surprise my boyfriend's mum!

Question Posted Tuesday July 18 2017, 3:20 am

My boyfriends mom recently lost a close relative and i know she is very upset about it and my boyfriend is out of state at the moment. ive met her a few times and ive talked to her a handful of times, me and her son are new in a relationship. ive texted her every other day for the last few weeks just to talk and see how she is doing and stuff. well i found out yesterday that she lost someone and that its been rough. i was thinking about showing up to surprise her at her house with a movie and snacks, since she loves watching movies to see if she wants some company. a friend mentioned i should take sympathy flowers and the movie and snacks and just say that i was stopping by to give her the flowers and i had a movie and snacks if she wanted some company. i want to show an effort in trying to get to know her or hangout with her cause i know if i had a son id want his girfriend and i to get along, i know my boyfriend would be super happy if i got along with his mom, and i know i would be happy if someone did that for me. my question is should i do the flowers movie and snacks? just the movie and snacks? just the flowers? or should i do something just a little different. im open to suggestions and ideas. thankyou so much in advance!

IF you can afford the movie, snack and flowers then do all three. Getting to know his mum is one thing. Being there for her while her son isn't is another. If her son is going to be away for any time longer you might invite her to do other things with you. Such as going shopping together or having lunch or dinner together.

Do you cook? If you do maybe you could bring the ingredients for a meal and cook it at her house. I know when I'm out of town my wife will subsist on soup because she won't cook for herself. If you cook a meal for her at her home cook something large enough that there are left overs she can eat later.

These are some of the things you can do to get to know her and to let her know you care for her and her son.
