Why do multiracial people of partial African descent insist on...

Question Posted Friday June 26 2015, 6:48 pm

... calling themselves black? It's offensive to the millions of people in the world who are truly 100% African. Yes, some of their ancestors didn't choose to come to the diaspora during the slave trade, but some of their ancestors did, and were European, Native American, Asian, etc. the average African American is roughly 20% white and yet they are the ones harping the most about being black. Most real Africans unite under their specific cultures before the generic racial label created by Europeans to justify the slave trade, "black". The one drop rule is nonsense. By that logic, everyone is black, as down the line, everyone descends from people from somewhere in south east Africa. Just because multiracial people are also discriminated doesn't mean that somehow erases their parts of their ancestry they don't find redeemable. Yes, some slaves were raped unfortunately, but rape is not a new human phenomenon. That ancestry isn't void just because it came about through rape. The whole thing is annoying cause it's all about convenience. Even president Obama says he's black, while at the same time, talking about his mixed race upbringing. Mixed race people act like its so hard to appreciate and represent more than one culture, and I don't understand it. Who is telling them they have to pick one, and they can't just identify as being mixed? In this increasingly global world, cultures are influenced by other cultures a lot more, not to mention the more genetic mixing that goes on. I think it's wrong for multiracial people to act as if they can uniformly speak of a "black" struggle without perspective from the many fully African Africans. I'm not against mixed race people FYI, I'm no bigot or racist. If anything, it seems bigoted to deny a part of your ancestry. People are great whatever they are, there's no need to obscure genetics, it only does more harm than good.

If the cops kill you in a chokehold, you think they care that genetically you are 20% white? Black is as black is *treated*.
