What is a good activity for a female who wants to increase body awareness and have better fluidity, particularly in the hips and buttocks? Maybe a form of movement like, tai chi or some kind of dance? Yoga seems to work, but is there a specific type that facilitates having more rounded, feminine movement?

I would suggest you try a vinyasa yoga, or flow class. In these classes, we flow from one posture to another, while holding poses for a various amount of time. This increases body awareness, connects breath to body, and also increases your mobility of joints.
