Visiting an Old Friend

Question Posted Friday May 16 2014, 1:49 pm

I have a childhood friend. We used to live close to each other, but I moved away when I was seven years old. We were close to each other when we were children, but our relationship became more estranged after I moved away. I would occasionally see her at parties and my mother is very close to my friend's mother. However, my friend moved away when she attends college and the last time I saw her was in 2012.

I am going to be near my friend's parent's house during Christmastime this year and my friend usually stays at her parent's house during that time. I would like to visit my friend while I am in the area, but my parents do not want to. My father has never given me a specific answer, but my mother does not want to because she sees my friend's mother all the time. However, the purpose of this visit would be to visit my friend; not my mother's friend.

I would like to see my friend again, but my parents do not want to, which is frustrating me. What do you think I should do? Please let me know soon.

I don't know your age but if your friend is attending college then I have to assume you are at least a teenager. Perhaps you could contact your friend and arrange to have a visit at her parents house, maybe your parents will agree to drop you off there and go do some shopping or sightseeing while the two of you catch up! It wouldn't hurt to ask. If they say no then try to contact your friend through Facebook or other social media until you can actually make the trip on your own.
