help with dance

Question Posted Saturday January 11 2014, 2:02 pm

I'm in 8th grade and I take dance. My dance is like a mix of hip hop and modern/contemporary. Anyways.. I have a lot of trouble picking up fast choreography and everyone else in my class is able to do it better.. what can I do to improve? I even wear my glasses to dance and they do help but what are some other tricks? And I do practice at home but my question is how to pick up fast choreography when I'm learning a new move IN class? Thanks.

I danced with older teenagers when I was in hip hop, too. Obviously, practice makes perfect but in class, pay close attention to those around you. Idk if you're a visual learner but I found it easier to pay attention to the others and mimic them. And if possible, ask the teacher to show you something you didn't understand. It's like a classroom; don't be afraid to ask a question. If it embarrasses you, ask when the class is over. I hope I helped :)
