Cheap lunches for my daughter for school

Question Posted Wednesday January 8 2014, 11:32 pm

My daughter gets lunch from the school and she always complains about how disgusting the food is. She asked me to pack but I just dont have the money to spend. I was wondering if there was any ideas of super cheap lunch ideas or something like that. Thank you!

Peanut butter and jelly is about the least expensive lunch to pack. With it you can pack some carrots or celery and a cookie along with a juice box. You should be able to pack the whole lunch for under a dollar a day.

A friend of mine packs her daughters lunch in partitioned containers. The lunches she packs her daughter can be leftovers from dinner the night before along with a piece of fruit and a homemade treat. Other times she may make her a salad along with slices of cheese. She also makes her own granola bars so they will pop up in her daughters lunch.

School lunches tend to be bland and tasteless as they have to cook for a variety of tastes and food allergies. Children who may be use to highly spiced food at home will definitely not like the school lunches as they are very bland.

With a little creativity I'm sure you can put together a very inexpensive lunch for your daughter. If the meal requires refrigeration try freezing the juice box. By the time lunch time comes around the juice should have thawed and while doing so will have kept the lunch cool.
