cramp remedys?

Question Posted Thursday September 19 2013, 9:04 am

I can't take acetaminophen and when I get my period I get severe cramps to the point I feel I'm going to be sick and or pass out. Because of my allergy I can't take midol or any of that. I take ibprofen but it doesn't help. Are there any other remedys that could help me?

Well here are some ways to ease period cramps:

~Apply heat - use a hot water bottle or heat pad and place it on your lower abdomen (You could make a rice sock if you don't have one). A warm bath or shower might also help.

~Exercise - when you are doing exercise, your body is pumping more blood; this helps to release endorphins to counteract the prostaglandins and reduce your cramps. You could try going for a walk, light jogging or yoga.

~Hot drinks such as Chamomile tea is good for period cramps. Active ingredients in this gentle herb help ease the spasms in your uterus that cause that crampy feeling.

I've heard that eating bananas help. Also drinking caffeine like soda or something. Midol has caffeine in it, which is why soda helps.
I also use a heating pad. That helps so much. Or take a hot bath with epsom salt.
It also helps if someone massages you.

If you talk to your doctor I'm sure they can help you out more if these things don't help much.
