Holidays in Britain Hi
Been looking at holidaying in Britain for say 5 days. Really fancy a caravan, mobile home type holiday. However, i dont drive so is there anywhere for relatively cheap accommodation like this where its easy to get too if you done drive.
I dont have kids ill be on my own, just want a few days away maybe do a bit of sightseeing shopping etc and somewhere where i can just chill in the evenings with a book.
Any ideas?

I've been to Britain and Scotland and found I did not need to rent a car. The transportation system there and in most of Europe is much better than here in the States. My wife and I were able to get to all the tourists spots by using either the Tube, their subway, while in London or the Rail system for the rest of the trip. You can purchase tube and rail passes good for unlimited travel prior to leaving.
This leaves only finding accommodations. Like here you will find the accommodations there to run from high to low. One good value is British Airways tour packages which includes a nice hotel in London or just outside of London for the low cost hotels and motels.
I would suggest you seek help from a good travel agent. They are paid by the hotels and the airlines so they cost you nothing. We used an American Express travel agent and had a wonderful Holiday well within our travel budget. The agent also suggested some things to do in the evening that we had not known about which became the highlight of our trip.
My advice: Set your budget figure for travel and accommodations, then go see a good travel agent and let them book and prepay you reservations. Buy rail and tube passes for travel within London and Great Britain. If you travel up to Scotland you need not travel back to London to return home. You can leave from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Given that you are looking at a 5 day stay this saves you a day of travel and the Edinburgh Castle is worth seeing if you can make the time. ]
I live in Britain.
If you want shopping & sightseeing then the best bet is London-liverpool/manchester are good but there's not as much sightseeing there.
There's a Travel lodge by Euston station-this may be an option because its close to transport links and the tube, to get you to the shops, the shows and the sights.
Its soo expensive to stay in the city centre, as you've probobly gathered.

I only suggested London because for a 5 day visit you'll pack the most in there.
However, you could also go to popular places like Cornwall & the Eden Project, Bath, Yorkshire etc. "Britain" also includes ireland, so it could be nice to look at Giants Causeway etc too.
Shopping wise and sightseeing wise, london is the best though. Check this out aswell:
