chances of getting pregnant?

I am a 24 yr old women from India, two weeks back i had intercourse with my boyfriend and i'v not used any protection or contraceptive measures but on that same day i got my periods, are there any chances of me getting pregnant?

You can still get pregnant. Don't have sex untill you are clued up on it though. Its not fair on you or society.

The chance of getting pregnant on the day of your period are fairly slim though not unheard of. Your period is the cleansing of your womb so your womb is not really ready for an egg to be implanted. Also you must be ovulating at the time of or with a few days of intercourse.

Most women ovulate some time during the middle 14 days of their cycle. Studies show that 80% of women do so during this time. The other 20% ovulate at other times including during their periods.

If you happen to be one of the 20% who ovulate at other times of their cycle then there is a slight chance you could become pregnant if you had sex on that same day.

I'm not sure if this kit is available in India but you should check with your pharmacist, if not it is available on line. Ask if they have ovulation kits. These kits are designed to tell you when you ovulate and is good to know if you are going to use the rhythm method of birth control.

Before using the kit you should take a home pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant.
