For some reason, I'm scared of my sister. Whenever we're home alone, I get really scared and always have a phone next to me. Whenever she's the only one awake, I'm TERRIFIED that she'll do something to me in my sleep or steal something of mine...
She's about 2 years older than me. We were close when we were young and I always try to act casual around her... But on the inside, I'm scared to death.
The thing is, I don't get scared that easily. I think I do have a paranoia disorder. I definately have anxiety, though I wasn't diagnosed. Any advice on how to deal with this without medication? Or why I'm so scared of my sister?

I used to work with a friend who had fears that people were always going to jump out at her to spook her so she was very jumpy and it affected her job and life. So she saw a hypnotist and that took care of her fears. Hypnosis is not an ongoing treatment like counseling, the one time should do it if you are the kind of person who is easy to work on. These fears come from your subconscious mind so in Hypnosis, suggestions are made to your subconscious mind to behave differently. Good luck dear. kittenlover2000 answered Monday July 1 2013, 12:05 pm: I have an anxiety disorder, diagnosed. And it aint fun. What you seem to have is the 'phobia' aspect-an irrational fear. It doesn't sound like generalized anxiety so treatment without medication is always best.
Also, I'm guessing you're young if you live with her? In this case, a doctor would not let you take medication unless it was the last resort.
Unless she hurts you and you have a reason to be scared, it sounds like an irrational fear. Type in CBT self help into Google. You'll get loads of help, on how to challenge this fear you have.
You may also need to learn how to relax in stressful situations, so this disorder does not manifest into something much worse. Try 'mindfulness'-a Buddhist philosophy that works wonders for me.
If you are as I suspect below 20 , then you can't have schizophrenia, the Paranoid type because its been proven the age of onset is early twenties.
The thing is, all what I suggest will help you if you are persistant enough to help yourself. Anxiety is something you have to learn to cope with, there is no cure. Remember a little is great because it keeps us alert and safe. Too much can lead to minor/serious illness. This is why its best to hit the nail on the head now, because trust me it can manifest itself, to a point where you can't control it.
