Hi I am 13 years old and Im positively not sexually active . I masturbate everyday though . This month I missed my period Im guessing it usually comes at the very beginning of the month but hasn't happened . Is this bad ? Should I be worried ?
adviceman49 answered Monday June 17 2013, 10:18 am: It is not unusual to occasionally miss a period. One of the main reasons for missing a period are stress and changes in life style.
Given the time of the year it is, with end of year finals and all. It would be understandable that you would be under a lot of stress studying and finishing up class assignments. This also means that your normal life style is somewhat disrupted.
One other thing you should know. Moms are generally well aware of their daughters menstrual cycle and look for evidence that they have gotten their period each month. If mom was concerned that you missed you period she would have said something to you by now. Most likely she is waiting for next month to see if your period returns. If so no strike no foul most likely cause of the missed period was a stressful time something that happens to all women.
Now if your period does not return and you have been having regular periods for sometime then it may be reason to be concerned. There are many other reasons for missed periods that have nothing to do with being pregnant and are of no problem. These would include changes in diet, over exercising, taking of antibiotic medications and being under weight. The last one of all the others I mentioned is the only one that is of medical concern as that is not good. There could be other medical concerns which need be checked out as well.
So if your period does not return next month you need to tell mom so she can arrange a visit to your GYN which is medically needed to make sure there is not a medical reason. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]

If you have just started your period then it might not be very regular and it may take quite a long time for your cycle to stabilise (this may take a couple of years) so the number of days between each period and how long you will get your period for will vary. When you are older your periods should start to become more regular.
Masturbation doesn't effect periods and some other reasons for a late/missed periods include: stress, excessive exercise, being underweight/overweight, eating disorders and change in diet or routine. [ Tigz285's advice column | Ask Tigz285 A Question ]
rjhxx answered Sunday June 16 2013, 6:39 pm: alot of girls miss their period if they have been under alot of stress or have been taking part in alot of excersize/heavy training. it even could be if you havent been eating properly. because your young your body is still developing so your periods are probably just becoming irregular, im sure its nothing to worry about, im 16 and i skip mine sometimes. if you are very worried why dont you tell your mum, you have nothing to hide because you havent had sex and im sure she has been through the same as most girls/woman have, hope this helped:) [ rjhxx's advice column | Ask rjhxx A Question ]
