does a parent still have the right to tell their kid what to do even though they went to jail? Since my daughter is thinking that.

Yes, of course. Especialy if the jail time wasn't for long and didn't add up to the crime committed. At no point should a child be abe to do s they please for any reason. Whoever is his or her guardian is, is in charge of them until they are old enough and mature enughto make deciions on their own.
