How do you study actually ? :)

Question Posted Sunday March 3 2013, 10:29 am

Hello :) First of all, i'm so sorry if my question bothers you though. You see, i was viewing your advice column and i read the sentence saying you're hoping to get into a PhD programme in Biology, so i'm guesiing you're an excellent student in Science subjects.
I'm a secondary school student with the age of 17 and my career goal is to become a Cardiologist, and truthfully i'm not getting expected grades in my yearly examinations and this year'll be my final and only year to succeed. So, i do need a little help with my studies. In my opinion, it would be very helpful if you could share with me some tips or methods when studying the tough subjects.
I would be very delighted with your help Miss Annie, thank you and have a good day :)

Urg, I'm so awful at studying. I'm serious. I'm not very good at it and I have gotten horrible grades before. But, basically I've learned a few things going through college. One is making a plan. When I have an exam coming up I plan out what i'll study each day to finish in time. It helps me because I'm less prone to the freak out knowing I have 6 more chapters to study the night before. Another is noting all my due dates. I like using the tasks on gmail. I use gmail a lot and before the start of a term I write down everything I have due for a class. This way even if I happen to forget, I'll be reminded on the to do list. The main thing is not to be surprised with an assignment. You don't want to lose points on anything you could've done. Also it's good to ask for help when you really need it. There are some subjects you can figure out given time but other times it might just be faster asking for help.

I hope that helps :)
