As for having the same last name. Here two as long as you two are not direct blood relatives I see nothing wrong here. With as many common names as Smith, Murphy, Cooper and others it is not all that unlikely you could meet and fall in love with someone with your same last name. It does save money on any monogrammed towels you might have. Also if it was your intention to take his last name upon marrying you already have it so you save the trouble of changing all of your identification and passport.
I say go for it and try to get to know this guy. Guys have all sorts of lines to pick up girls. A new approach might be is to say you know with us having the same last name we should get married and save all the trouble of having to change all my identification. If nothing else its an ice breaker and hopefully he will get a good laugh from it. It will also tell him a little about what a fun loving girl you might be and peak his interest in dating you.
If or when the age issue comes up. Age is just a number if you two are compatible in every other way it should not stand in the way of you two having a life long relationship.
