Why is my hair & scalp always dry, itchy & sore when I take care of it?
Question Posted Saturday December 1 2012, 10:25 pm
I wash, condition and oil my hair. But everyday my hair is dry and my scalp is sore and has dandruff. I use tea tree oil, carrot oil, morrocan oil, I don't think I use to much, I don't know why my scalp is like this. I'm african american and I'm transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. My hair is currently in braids. Should I put oil in my hair everyday or something?

If you wash your hair everyday, you also wash out the natural oils that make your hair and scalp soft. Hair oil products are very good, especially hot oil products (they're really just warm).
Because of this, it may be something like an internal chemical or hormonal thing. I had bad dandruff for a while and went to see a doctor. He prescribed me this oil based thick cream. It smelt and looked disgusting. I tried it though, and it worked. I was also given a prescription shampoo, which also helped.
A friend had *terrible* dandruff, and went to see a doctor. He was told he had too much testosterone, and this was the reason for his problem. Again, he was given a shampoo and it worked.
