The book starts off with A distant relative of Lygaya telling his story. Then the book takes you way back to the 1800's when, Lygaya is in Africa with his family. After Lygaya and his mother Sanala get taken by the Maures. They are put onto a boat. They had to use vinager to clean themselves, because the white people thought they were too dirty. Lygaya was on the boat for 10 days. Then a bunch of slaves get scorbut and they had to be separated from the rest of the slaves. Then they are bought by a man who bought the 3 of them. Sanala, Lygaya and their friend Anama. He brings them to the forest where they now live. Each morning they must put lemons in their mouths and wash their body's with oil. They were givin uniforms but they did not want to use them because they were afraid they would get a rash. There was no point in running away because they were on an island and had guard dogs. The Lygaya makes a friend with Pierre. And Pierre gives him a mirror. Lygayas work was to play with the farmers son (Pierre) Sanalas job was to cook and clean. Pierre is jealous of Lygaya because of lygayas loving mother, Pierre only has a father. Then the commander gets mad at Lygaya because he thinks he stole the mirror rather then it be given to him by Pierre. Then Pierre's cousin Sophie comes in. She blames the slaves on things she. Does. The conducteur is taking things from Pierre's dad and is blaming e slaves. Then Pierre, Lygaya and Juliette saw the commander trade all the things he has stolen for 5 slaves. Then Lygaya sees his father among the slaves. The commander was going to ship them to Guatamaloo. They didn't know what to do so they went and asked ideas from Simbo. Then they follow the 5 slaves with the commander and Lygaya unites them. Juliette goes and gets Pierre's dad and tells him to come. Then the commander comes and harasses Pierre with a gun. Then Pierre's father comes. And pinto gets to stay with Lygaya

I doubt anyone will. I have googled it, and it is a French book. I don't know of any French users on this site. Maybe someone who has studied French may have read it.

But seriously, this may be what you need to teach you a lesson. It sounds harsh, but you have to learn that there is a point of homework. It is to expand your mind beyond school. So if you were told to read it, you should have. Failing the test may just give you the motivation to do what is asked of you in school. If you are struggling however, it is best to speak to your teacher.

Good luck.
