Nervous while talking with supervisor, professor....
Question Posted Monday July 30 2012, 6:59 pm
when I talk to my supervisor at work and when he tells me something i don't seem to retain details.. also i go to see professor at his office and when he explains me, i look very slow to understand.. mostly at the office setting.... but at classroom, i am much much quicker. this is frustrating to me. I try looking at other person's eyes mostly when i talk, just my habit.. not to show them that i am not scared or anything.. i nod my head when they talk as if i have understood everything but in fact those voices don't even register in my brain.. my guess is i try to concentrate too much and lots of thoughts run at back of my head when other are speaking ...sometime i don't have confident but most of the time i feel like i am over confident.. i am great talker with friends and family though.. its just that at school and work i feel dumb.. anybody has similar issues or some advices for me... it would be great help to reduce my frustation... thank yalll for taking time to read this. :)

If your professor or supervisor is trying to talk to you don't wander off somewhere else thinking that your going to remember or even know what they said. Just relax when they talk to you write the tips down that they give to you. Also don't just nod your head if you don't understand and walk away clueless. Put your pride away and open your mouth & ask questions you won't get in trouble if you do. It's always important to remember to not over think what's going to happen just live in the moment and try to stay focus on the task at hand. Don't be scared get out of your comfort zone which involves friends and family only and learn to not just physically be some where but emotionally too. Learn to believe that you are smart outside of your comfort zone and show your supervisor and professor that you can do any task they give you. :)
