How many tampons should I use a day? I heard you're supposed to take it out after two hours instead of what it says on the pack, but it hurts every time I take one out. I also wanted to know, will it ever stop hurting? I mean, a tampon usually feels ok going in, and I didn't even feel it when I used it, but when I took it out, it really hurt! I'd use pads all the time if I could, but since it's summer (and my family goes to the beach a lot) if I don't go in the water, it'll be really embarassing having to tell everyone I'm on my period. I hope you can help!

Okay, most likely if it hurts taking it out, it is too try or you didn't put it in correctly. It probs was too dry and you may be using too heavy of a tampon. Also, you can keep it in to what it says on the box - that's why they have that on there! [ ohmylanta's advice column | Ask ohmylanta A Question ]

You may not have a heavy flow, so replacing it every 2 hours might be a bit too soon. Is it usually mostly white when you take it out? You may also be using the wrong type of tampon. If you have a light flow, only use light flow tampons, medium flow, use medium flow tampons and so on. Your method of removing it might also be the cause. You have to remove it on the same angle you put it in.
