i am 24 male from south asia few of my reletives and friend went euorpe in last few years now they are facing so many difficulties there why not people try to work and earn in their homeland and why they try shortcuts.
There are a variety of push and pull factors that may attract people to other countries. Probably the most important reason, is that we live in an increasingly Globalized economy. The notion of working and living in the place you were born does not make sense anymore.
There may be a lack of jobs in a certain country, or a lack of freedoms. I am from the United Kingdom of Great Britain. I love my country. In a patriotic, rather than a nationalist way. We have excellent state structures such as the NHS, we have an excellent education system, and we enjoy freedoms and opportunities that many cannot even dream of.
Of course, immigration has a strain of these things. Many are against immigration, others are for limiting it. In the European Union, people can move freely, work freely, and live freely within member countries. This has it's benefits of course, but also drawback.
But in short, travelling for work and other difficulties is not a short cut, but something a last resort, or a means for survival, or a better life. It would be great if we could live with our friends and family, and every country was equal in its rights, but it's not realistic. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
Teen2TeenHelp answered Sunday May 20 2012, 1:23 am: I'm assuming you're probably from India. I have close friends who are from India, and as far as I know, the economy of India is very bad. There is also more freedom of education in Europe and the Americas. It's not a matter of shortcuts that people are taking by living. Just because you are born in one country does not mean you have to live there for the rest of your life. If South Asia is not the place that gives you the most opportunity to better yourself, then why live there? It is not easy to transition to a new country. My aunt is facing the same situation, coming from her homeland to live in the US. She does not have a stable job, and does not have a car, etc. But she is trying to make a living for her children, so they can grow up in America to have a better opportunity in life, than she did.
