Any branch of the Military has reserve units that meet once a month and two weeks a year. Then their is the National Guard which is the States Military unit The National Guard is under the direction of the Governor of your state and meets in the same manner as a reserve unit.
The National Guard is generally an Army Unit that receives basic training in the Army then returned to the National Guard for a six year commitment. The President of the United States can at his discretion order any Guard unit federalized and brought in to augment the regular army. For the last ten years many of the Guard units have been federalized as need to support the wars in the middle east.
