Teenage boys need very little if any visual stimulation to get an erection. You don't have to be talking about sex, sitting in a provocative manner or even dressed in sexy clothing for him to become erect. It can happen just holding hands. He is having an involuntary reaction to the hormones now float around in him since he entered puberty. As he gets older and his body adjusts to these hormones he will have less involuntary erections.
