When I was little, I never had to work hard in school. I've always been smart, and so I could easily do better than the other kids without trying. Once I started middle school, things started getting a little harder, and I generally made do, but once I got into high school, I started falling behind. Now I'm in college, with about a 2.9 and falling, and still no work ethic. I'm not waking up in time for classes, I'm not turning in assignments, and I've developed some serious school-related anxiety (which is contributing to the above). I don't want to have to continue to watch myself slide down this slippery slope, but I don't know how to fix this and make changes that will help me succeed in the long run. What sorts of things can I do to get my life in order?

Aymy answered Thursday March 29 2012, 5:00 pm: School is commitment.Maybe too much commitment for some people. Its natural to feel lost sometimes, the important part is overcoming all of the challenges you're facing and getting back on track. In order to help yourself get back on track, you can write a scheduale, where you specify and write down what you're ganna do during the day and in order.commit to that scheduale.Time management is the ket to succes. You have to split your free fun time and your serious studying time. When you study or do school work you have to be focused and really want that A+.So work hard and don't give up,trust me it will be worth it in the end. :)

Pin a large calendar on your bed/workroom wall that has enough space to note down assignments and due dates, also mark in when to start working on them. Keep checking this calendar to keep up to date. Tutors may also help with assignment writing skills if you find that as hard as I did.
Work out how many hours sleep you need every night to be at your best and keep to it. Weekends might allow a late night or morning after lie-in, but not too many.
Get together with friends after receiving assignments to bounce ideas around about what the assignment needs, make notes about these conversations to remind you of those excellent inspiring ideas your friends had that you never thought of!
These are all things I wish I'd done last year when I had a third in History and English.
Hope this helps, let me know how you get on?
Best wishes X. [ Carriebeca's advice column | Ask Carriebeca A Question ]

Studying with my friends helped me because they kept me on track and even asking my parents to quiz me over subjects helped as well. I began to force myself to keep a daily schedule and write down all of my assignments so I know exactly what is due and when it is due. Other than the preceding options, I just remind myself how unhappy I was when I wasn't making an effort to do better. That motivates me to continue trying my best. I hope this helps you!
